I feel the str/int split could allow much more interesting and fun builds. It'd be amazing if every god would have unique benefits for building into str vs building into int.
As someone who has seen this in LoL for years let me tell u - we gonna have sooo many funny meme builds. Full Magic Chaac Super Regenerator, 100% Crit Ymir, Poly-Nuke Cherunnos - depending on how big the Scalings are there are tons of options.
so im confused whats the point of switching from phys and magic dmg to this new system? if they basically act the same is every god gonna have scaling for both now? and that then gives tons of options and hybrid options? cuz if not and say chaac abilites only scale from str then youd only grab an int item for maybe a passive but get 0 power
@@BayBlends Smite is still a lot different from League in many ways. Its jsut takes a better system from a competetor. Good Game Studios copy great systems from similar games - thats what Titan Forge is doing.
@@bulmascoffee Well there will probably still be a lot of Gods that just have one scaling typ, the point is that varaity now exists. Also the idea of those meme builds is to put all eggs in one basket and overcommit into one thing. Example: In league there is a Champ called Nasus that is generally more a Bruiser. He has a Strong AA Cancel on his 1, a Slow on his 2 and his 3 is a AoE Magic Damage Field that shreds Armor to make his AA and 1 more damaging. But his 3 has a 65% Magic Scaling on the initial hit and a 13% Scaling on all 5 DoT Ticks. So if u hit all of it this comes up to a 130% scaling. This is some insane AoE Damage if u build him full Magic. So u change ur play style from dangerous Frontline Bruiser to a Glasscanon that just makes a certain area a Deathzone for the enemy team. Are those Builds good? Not really most of the time. But they are fun and ridicoulus if u just see someone exlpode from an ability that normaly doesnt do that much damage.
The first item you showed was a hybrid item, Frostbound Hammer with 20 strength and 50 magical defense. So notwithstanding any changes, there will be hybrid items. Really excited to see how the new str/int split plays out, the shake up is much needed after 10 years of the same general way to build.
What I'd personally find cool, for both Smite games: Critical Hits only deal x1.5 damage, not x1.75 or x2 damage, but have a different self-Buff or other effect based on whatever Class the critical striker is. Makes it less of a "haha funny RNG raw damage" mechanic and more interactive with your God pick. Maybe Warriors/Guardians or their Smite 2 equivalent have really weird/interesting and potentially powerful Crit Effects so that building Crit on them isn't completely a troll pick? It'd also give classes a way to have an identity that isn't just arbitrary sorting between "Deals Physical damage" + "Deals Magical damage" or getting a bunch of passive stats arbitrarily foisted onto them like Power or CDR or Pen or whatever.
God, the newly formatted item descriptions are so much more concise and understandable than the ones we currently have. I'm happy that the devs seem to be listening to community feedback about things like that.
One of the things I noticed was that there is going to be hybrid items, by the looks of it Minoan Labrys had strength and prots on it. Though it looks like one of the axes, currently animosity axe, is actually selected
Tiamat will be weird.. I could see flight form being all intelligent.. but ground form being "physical" even though in smite 1, it goes off magical power. Could be overthinking it, but it could mean you can main one form more than another, like how flight form is your main form 90% of the time
Tbh I don't expect tiamat to be one of the first gods ported over. Save her for later for both balance and the amount of time it would take to model and animate everything
@inrisd3704 I know she's not going to be one of the first but does change if her ground form might use strength.. unless hirez pulls a hirez and she's just all intelligence
Cant wait for this. Not a big fan of league but one of the things i find moat interesting about that game is that some characters are viable whether they build AD or AP, just in different ways - gonna be so fun to have that flexibiliry in smite
Minoan looks like BKB in DOTA, and that's hype Pretty much every game multiple carries have BKB's, but, the balance is that not great stats - and some Ults/spells go through BKB for example I like that they're doing more active items
9:25 I think hunters will have much lower base damage and have much higher pen to shred tanks but won’t be good duelists against other damage classes. mages and assassins will lose a lot of their penetration but have higher base damage and survivabilty making them better at bursting squishier targets but not melting tanks
I assume the item tree is like league now like it's not in tiers exactly anymore you have to build one item to complete the higher "tier" item. That spear is its own item but you'll combine that to get the divine ruin
Im pretty happy with the damage split just so I can use items like Spear of the Magus on someone like Serquet. Though im worried the devs are gonna fold and nerf all the fun stuff
With the Minoan Labrys, it just says you become CC immune, not that it cleanses all CCs, so there’s a chance you have to use it like a pre-beads to avoid telegraphed CCs instead of like normal beads
8:55 - When it comes to some T2 items loosing their passives, it's the same idea that other component based mobas like league or predecessor have already, where that T2 is suppoused to be a "bridge-point" item, something that you back for from lane first, buy it, and then possibly only upgrade into an item later, pretty much an early powerspike that makes laning as a scaling character more bearable but kinda falls off with effectiveness during late game so instead of having to sell a full item with passive that became semi-useless to replace it with a better one you can just upgrade it to something else
I really hope they keep the tree system from 1. It looks like they might go for a Dota 2 item system and it just sucks. I never know if I'm getting the final item or there is a more powerful option.
My guess is there’s a lot of filler items without passives or actives because they want to play test crit builds or other hunter builds without finishing all the items first
With split stats i think healing tied to power could make a return in a balanced way Forcing stronger healer builds to sacrifice on their damage AND tankynes by forcing them to build a stat they have no other use for
I don't think tier 3s losing the passive of a tier 2 is bad design. It adds decisions because it gives you the option to upgrade a t2 and lose a passive you might want in the early game or to start another t3 and retain the passive you want longer. Oracle Staff is a perfect example because mana sustain is more important in the early game. It also adds depth to fights. Perhaps you might play aggressively against a Nox because she finished Divine, is out of mana and you would trade, but if she still has Oracle Staff and you get killed before she dies, she would regain mana allowing her enough to ult your backline and secure a 2 for 1. You would play differently depending on what item passives she has accumulated AND what passives she's lost. It would be worse for beginners and people who don't think about builds, but I see the potential for innovative strategy for higher levels. I could also be completely wrong and a system like this could suck, but I wanted to point out its potential.
Hard agree Also league of legends does exactly that The tier 2 passives we've seen so far in smite 2 are also almost and/or exactly the same as in league They work perfectly in league so I don't see why they wouldn't in smite 2

@@aceroy9195 I agree that Smite losing part of what makes it distinct from other MOBAs is a bad thing, but the item system needs an entire rework. Mast, last year's creator of the year, stopped making Smite content because he got sick of the item system after years of complaining it was often bland. I agree with Mast. The way the item shop in Smite is designed makes it lack depth and decision making. Take a look at ADC builds over the past few months. Almost every ADC builds the same 6-7 items because they are the best items, and the hunters that don't build them are lower tier because they don't use the meta items effectively. We need more t2 passives. We need more itemization that can be customized mid-game instead of locking in a t3 item when you have 700 spare gold to buy the t1 (getting 3-4 options from a t1 is often not enough wiggle room if you decide you need to counterbuild). I'm not sure homogenizing Smite's item system with other MOBAs is the correct solution, but they want Smite 2 to succeed and multiple MOBAs have proved that the League item system is successful.
I'm gonna guess that the "8.8 Meter" thing is because the game is originally using Imperial but the video had someone using the Metric conversions. Though direct conversion makes that 28ish feet, maybe it's supposed to be 30ft and it rounded down to 8.8 Meters
Imagine... now Carries don't have to that Divine Ruin and The Executioner. Put BOTH on your Warrior or Support, and have them 'Mark' your targets, then take your big Stat Sticks from Carry and feast. Because now One guy can equip BOTH of these Items... and we don't care that The Execution has 'bad Base Stats', because it's the Support, he's not there for Big DPS (and Divine DOES have Big Damage). So one guy, likely the Warrior, stacks up on the "Prots give Power" Item, and the other, likely the Support, grabs the Nerfs Enemy Team Items.
I wonder since all gods have the same type of damage, will tanks have an easier job now? Since they don't have to build two types of defense they have a slot for a power item without having to sacrifice defense.
It can be that the god can do as physical as also magical damage. If we look on Death Prophet from Dota 2 her damage is mainly magical except of ultimate. Ultimate does physical damage.
@@DiveBombRebel There is Strength (Physical) and Intelligence (Magical), and you have Physical Defense and Magical Defense for Items. Your Mages are STILL going to be largely Intelligence (Magical) Damage... but their Basic Attacks and maybe A Skill will Scale with Strength, or a Strength/Intelligence Split on Scaling. Take Odin, who they went over a bit. His Basic and 3 of his Skills are Physical, scaling off Strength. But his Pulse is Magical... if Odin wants to melt with the Pulse, he needs Intelligence. So if you are say in Lane with Odin... what do you build? Is he REALLY going to ALL In on Intelligence to melt with JUST his 3 and force you to either (1) Suffer or (2) Buy Magical Prots early (where the Jungle can be Strength and Gank you in Solo now?)? Maybe, he might. But if not, he's building Tank and Strength... and you don't worry about the 3 Pulse Damage because he's not amping it with Stats. But as the game goes on, his Weak Non-Amped 3 will hurt MORE, because you are not Protecting against it... and his Scaled Damage from Physical you're Protecting against. So 3 won't destroy you, but NOW since you aren't Prot'd for it, it might start to hurt just off Base.

2 questions, how am I gonna know what abilities are strength and what are inteligence, is tht gonna be written in ability description, 2nd can a wish-granting pearl be good with gods who go transendance if there is trans yet? If not than maybe any other item that gives power(strength) for amount of % mana
The str/int could be an amazing change that makes building way more interesting or a shit change that just ruins the balance of many gods... we'll see ig
I'm wondering which gods will make the cut for the starting roster. I know most of the OG's will return, though I wonder if they'll do more earlier concepts or include the newer gods.
so if im playing cern, i have to sacrifice basic damage, (a major part of cerns damage) if i want my ult to be more then just the polymorph? seems kinda meh. hope they do it in a way that doesnt make half of your abilities feel useless
I'm concerned about how the active items are going to be implemented on controller. Not sure how they're going to make it practical to use up 6 additional buttons for 6 different items that will be used mid-combat. Also think they should allow you to have something other than only beads. Especially since it's already on an item. All I want is blink 😅
At 8:50, In league some teir 2 items have passives that are really nice to have early game and give you a small power spike to win lane, but that passive isn’t followed up on the 3rd tier. I think High Rez is looking to replicate this because I like league itemization more than smite by a lot
@@aceroy9195 smite itemization is so lame. It’s one path, no actual items it’s just tiers of one item. In league and new smite system is crafting using the items and they combine stats into the tier 2’s. It’s way better and allows for far more small power spikes when you can farm and it allows easier come back opportunity by building ever chance you can get to stay not so behind
@speedysloth203 lol itemization is absolutely braindead idk what you are talking about I win most games u play by building random recommended items and just rebuilding till it works. Smite might have only t3s as compete builds but that's not a bad thing about it. There are major trade offs to all the items in a tree. For example when building crit you may go for demon blade if you're falling behind. But if you're ahead of the enemy you may build rage. In league go to different items can often mean selling items you do have. And the path being from the bottom up means that the item tree is very complex without making build variety complex. Power spikes might be more often and more impactful, but that's not necessarily a good or bad thing. It's just different.
@@aceroy9195 me and you play different league of legends games. You build based around your kit and the enemy. If the enemy is building early game life steal then you build grievous wounds to counter the healing early. You build armor if your tankier and going against an attack character or build MR if they have ability power. You build based on situation, if your winning games simply by recommend items that feel inherently random then you are just good at MOBA’s and you know how to play. I don’t build in smite based in my game knowledge, yet I’m winning most of my games because Ik how to farm and trade well.
What I don't get is, is there going to be any case of abilities that deal magical damage scaled on Strength? Or physical damage scaled on Intelligence? Because if not, it just seems overcomplicated to call it Strength and then all it does is scale physical damage like it did in Smite 1. If it's going to be physical/magical damage, and physical/magical protections, why not just keep calling it Physical/Magical Power? They can still keep the fact that all gods can build both (although I'm not 100% a fan of that yet) but just change the names xd Also, not really a fan of these new item names lol, they are so generic, everything has "blade" now or something. I prefer the mythological feel of Qin's Sais instead of Qin's Blades, Bloodforge instead of Blood-forged blade, and why change Jotunn's Wrath to Revenge when the passive has noting to do with revenge ahah, it just seems so random to change item names that everyone is used to. Not trying to be super critical of the game of course, looks amazing, just thinking some stuff out loud :)
I REALLY dislike the new way they split magical and physical into what is supposed to be now. EDIT: as well as active effects on items. It just feels like SMITE is trying to homogenize itself to be even more similar to other mobas
@@arigoldring227 that's the problem I'll have when making my builds cause I'll be thinking about the smite 1 system but it seems most of the items are different so it'll be a difficult transfer from the game.

@@arigoldring227 No I dislike it because I have experienced it before in other MOBAs and am not a fan of it. One of the reasons why I play smite is because the physical/magical mix in every other moba feels like shit. You're gonna get characters who have essentially a nuke button, while their other abilities feel mediocre in comparison. You're gonna be getting characters where part of their kit is going to feel lacklustre because it was made to scale with a different stat than the majority of their other scaling. It doesn't feel good. Learning a new system is a complete non-factor. That'll take barely any matches and isn't difficult whatsoever. I don't care about learning a new system, I care about how well that system feels. And so far, I haven't seen a dev tackle this problem particularly well. I don't expect titan forge to be the pioneers in this field.
It kinda looks like they are just resetting the game itself to exactly how it was in the earlier seasons lol. Like there are fewer items and gods, the maps look semi similar.
I kinda hope that the relics you get are role dependant, and then you can choose from like 5 for your second. For example, give junglers blink, sunder, ward, beads, aegis, and then have them choose from that roster for the game. On the other hand, give mages beads, aegis, med (for healers), Frenzy, and sprint. These are just some examples to illustrate the concept.

Im am so ready for this
With the second game coming up, what are the odds we get another adventures game mode?
I'm wondering which gods will make the cut for the starting roster. I know most of the OG's will return, though I wonder if they'll do more earlier concepts or include the newer gods.
Is Pen gone as a stat? Did not see a single item with flat or % pen
There were more items shown from different sources. There is an item called serpent spear that has something like 70 or 90 strength and 20% pen
so if im playing cern, i have to sacrifice basic damage, (a major part of cerns damage) if i want my ult to be more then just the polymorph? seems kinda meh. hope they do it in a way that doesnt make half of your abilities feel useless
a 800 damage aa dealing character should not having high damaging abilities as well lmao
How are xctive items gonna work on console??
Clio with jotunns revenge >:)
That's notactually a second beads you can't use it while cced.
Do we know if we keep our mastery on all the gods?
No they are giving badges instead on the profile
Who tf cares. We get a new game
@@joshgusterson-weeks7693 oh for each god that is cool
@@Beefmaster95 it isnt a hard thing to do, I have all god at x and would like to keep it in the 2
@@Beefmaster95honestly, guys let it go, it's imaginary meaningless stars and outfits on video games characters.
At 8:50, In league some teir 2 items have passives that are really nice to have early game and give you a small power spike to win lane, but that passive isn’t followed up on the 3rd tier. I think High Rez is looking to replicate this because I like league itemization more than smite by a lot
That's just you man, I hate league itemization. I much prefer smite items system by a country mile
I don’t build in smite based in my game knowledge, yet I’m winning most of my games because Ik how to farm and trade well.
for all of you who dont really understand the shop hi rez just made leagues item shop but with smite. thats literally it
So no teleport for solo hmm sustainability is going to be even more important
I hate the removing relics and forcing us to carry around wards
That new exe will destroy fg and gf 😂
What I don't get is, is there going to be any case of abilities that deal magical damage scaled on Strength? Or physical damage scaled on Intelligence? Because if not, it just seems overcomplicated to call it Strength and then all it does is scale physical damage like it did in Smite 1. If it's going to be physical/magical damage, and physical/magical protections, why not just keep calling it Physical/Magical Power? They can still keep the fact that all gods can build both (although I'm not 100% a fan of that yet) but just change the names xd
Also, not really a fan of these new item names lol, they are so generic, everything has "blade" now or something.
Do you really dislike it or is it just unfamiliar and you don’t like having to relearn a bunch of unfamiliar items and stats and metas
@@arigoldring227 that's the problem I'll have when making my builds cause I'll be thinking about the smite 1 system but it seems most of the items are different so it'll be a difficult transfer from the game.
@@SummonersoftheRealmthat’s fair, but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing, it’ll take some time to get used to for sure, but it’s really just a major patch change when you need to learn new items and builds anyway, I’m sure content creators are going to post hella videos on builds and stuff and metas will be established fairly quickly and everyone will know what to buy
Active items are a good thing
Anyone else notice there's no green camp on the map?
I don't like the idea of every one gets beads then you buy a second 1.
It kinda looks like they are just resetting the game itself to exactly how it was in the earlier seasons lol. Like there are fewer items and gods, the maps look semi similar.
Idk how i feel about the item system being more like LoL
Frostborn will be meta again lol.
HI INTER ITS ME I WAS HERE FIRST YIPPEE
this is so sad for ps4 players since we have to get a ps5 to play smite 2
Can they take out crit at least 😂
I gotta say, the new item store UI is just terrible. Really hoping they rework it.
you missed quite a few items actually
No. This was one of the many things Smite didn't copy from League. Dumb magical scalings ruined so many otherwise balanced/interesting kits
Smite 2 more like fucking League 2 bro
I feel like its gonna be a shit show of a balance...
Calling it smite 2 when its nit even the same game is wild 😂 its just using the resources
Nobody cares about smite 2
Except plenty of people do. I advise you grow up real quick.
I hate is item change, if its not broke dont fix it
