If you've found this sneaky comment then, congratulations, you've found a sneaky preview link to the first 10 pages of the book www.hachette.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Gadgets-Gizmos-GimmicksBOOK_1-10.pdf
Just ordered both your books as Christmas gifts for my 9 year old who loves retro tech including my Commodore 64C, VIC 20 & two Amigas. I will be reading them as well.
Ha I would have laughed at you with my palm pilot, hang on a sec while I remember an entire form of short hand in order to do so on a tiny monochromatic screen, once I get the stupid notepad open, but I need to be in the right light... wait never mind, the battery is dead.
@2:29 you gave me goosebumps! My first ever tape player was a Walkman and my first tape was a Maxwell copy of a Dire Straits album, with Sultans of Swing, Money for Nothing and others..

1:35 No wonder why it seems like the UK gets things at the different time than Americans. Their actual dates translate to something different in American English.
Except Northern Ireland? People in NI riot bc they can't enjoy the promotion. NI breaks up and joins Ireland proper. How does it feel being responsible for the breakup of the UK? :3 :) :D
what is retro tech? is my 1897 columbia graphophone model C cylinder phonograph/dictaphone retro tech? like the first home pc's of the mid 1980s it was too expensive for low income buyers eh, it was too expensive for most middle income buyers. is retro tech some tech in living memory? that would phase the phonograph out but does that mean that great grans rca radiogram is retro tech? i'm sure some of you have a 100+ year old great grand parent. or is retro tech realy nostalgia tech for the generations born from 1960 to 1980? probably its the last but with a twist its realy nostalgia tech things that makes us think of the days that we had to work to get things to do what we wanted them to do not one lazy swipe and click on a screen no work at it! strangely the human race is even nostalgic for times that they didn't live in indeed most milenials never had to bare the loading time of a cassette tape game they weren't born yet but they collect them and have the nostalgic emotions with such a device so, that does place my phonograph in the retro tech spectrum retro stands for return to a past time retro tech is doing the same but having the experience of working with a device that is outdated when i recorded the raven by edgar alan poe on my extra long wax cylinder at 80 rpm on my columbia graphophone model c cylinder phonograph i did just that i did what they used to do with this machine and i felt nostalgic feelings doing it even though the item is 77 years older than me. so again i ask what is retro tech? am i right? or wrong?
Curious note, here in Mexico we are also acquiring the term "mobile" for cell phones. Seems saying cell phone is mostly used now for older non-smart phones now, at least here.
I asked on Facebook but got no response. I'm curious what specifically about Northern Ireland law prevents this competition from being valid there? I know in Canada we have to answer a skill-testing question. If you want to include Quebec you have to register your contest with a competition bureau and it's so complicated that many completions say (excludes Quebec).
I'm from Northern Ireland. The gambling laws are different here than in the rest of the UK. A competition like this can be considered as a 'game of chance' i.e.you have to buy something (the book) in order to enter. Once money changes hands it's technically gambling therefore different laws apply here NI. Madness? Yes but just the way it is in the wonderful 'United' Kingdom.
I do have a soft spot for portable stuff... its probably where I do the most gaming. Hell, I had a palm pilot at one point and it was mostly used for playing Wonderswan games. :P (and yes, LCD games count!)
@@jnharton No idea at all. It was decades ago now. I remember it having dark blue plastic and a "lid" that clipped onto the back. I may have been a generic "digital organiser" of some kind. Either way, it didn't do much, and finding out it could handle portable games was a boredom cure.
My wife just brought this home from the Library for me. I said "Hey?! I watch this guy on youtube!" and said that I was going to have to buy the book after I finished reading it. She said but I could just borrow it from the Library again, whenever I wanted?! :D
Apologies, she brought home the first book. My jaw just dropped when I started the video to show her and we both saw the SECOND book! (Maybe the Library has that one?!)
Yo I'm going to be 100% honest, I have used your book as an guide to many systems that I don't own and probably will never (e.g. the Jaguar) and only emulate the 3 games you mention genuinely speaking I agree with your choices.
That's one of the Xmas prezzies my misses can get me then. loved the last book and got it for Xmas. Shame I'm excluded for living in Northern Ireland though on the give away🤦🏻♂️
Hi Peter, just a 'heads up', I've tried pre-ordering the Audible version using my credits and it consistently goes to a dead link displaying: 'We’re sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site.' I just thought I'd let you know... Ben
Congrats, man. I've been trying to get published for a long time. I know how much hard work it is. And to do it twice? Congrats, again. I can't wait to get my copy.
Gratz on the new book :) love how Amazon think I should by the Mega Drive Mini together with your book 😄 some of that retro tech is too old for me, and some of it is my childhood :) Good Times :)
You cover some of the most nostalgic content... that a lot cover in a very mundane way, but you do it in an interesting way. Unfortunately I only stumbled upon you a couple weeks ago, but I guess I got years of videos to watch.
hang on peter.... the UK, UNITED KINGDOM is england scotland wales AND northern ireland... so if the comp is UK except N.I then that's GREAT BRITAIN.....
If you've found this sneaky comment then, congratulations, you've found a sneaky preview link to the first 10 pages of the book www.hachette.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/Gadgets-Gizmos-GimmicksBOOK_1-10.pdf
Love your accent, delivery and video editing, best retro channel (not easy to do!)
Thanks. Really looking forward to getting this. Congratulations!
A nice 1st 10 pages
Bum bag sounds funny, but when I learned what fanny meant to you Brits I couldn't help but laugh every time someone said it.
Just ordered both your books as Christmas gifts for my 9 year old who loves retro tech including my Commodore 64C, VIC 20 & two Amigas. I will be reading them as well.
I love this
"It's no longer 2018"
Can it be 2018 again please?
Can't wait for this book. I use to carry so much tech with me. From my Walkman, to a Psion Organiser, to the GameBoy, and so many more.
Ha I would have laughed at you with my palm pilot, hang on a sec while I remember an entire form of short hand in order to do so on a tiny monochromatic screen, once I get the stupid notepad open, but I need to be in the right light... wait never mind, the battery is dead.
still got one of those in the loft somewhere....
I start collecting them back randomly. At least for the stuff that still have affordable/reasonable price's tag lol
I've asked my wife to get this for me for Christmas. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I loved Retro Tech so much and still pick it up every week!
Pre-ordered your new book before I even finished the video. I enjoyed your Retro Tech book. Looking forward to the new one!
It’s a cool book BUT the title is freaking damn misleading ,why not calling it the retro phone tech book promotion instead? Damnit.
Pre-Ordered via Google Play shop.....wish I had the space for books....I dont...too many games and consoles.
I would have just been happy with my signed copy of the first book, but almost 6 weeks of being pissed about has put me off getting the new one.
is that T-120 hoodie purchaseable anywhere? :O looks so friggin cool
Wasn't expecting this video to be an ad.
Geeking out on the T-120 hoodie.
@2:29 you gave me goosebumps! My first ever tape player was a Walkman and my first tape was a Maxwell copy of a Dire Straits album, with Sultans of Swing, Money for Nothing and others..

Where you been!
Christmas sorted for myself, can’t wait 👌🏻
F off scammer! reported. hehehehe JK. bots and all.
Pre ordered. I can't wait to read through all this retro goodness !!
1:35 No wonder why it seems like the UK gets things at the different time than Americans. Their actual dates translate to something different in American English.
where can i get that VHS sweatshirt?
Except Northern Ireland?
People in NI riot bc they can't enjoy the promotion.
NI breaks up and joins Ireland proper.

Nice to have tech history, very educational, congrats on new book!
I've always just know you as "nostalgia nuhd". Puh-hops I am wrong? Then again, I live in Americur, so that must explain it.
Back then there was a discreete device for every function. Now it's just lots-of-shit-on-a-chip. Good? Bad? Hard to decide...
Jesus... I'd love to pre-order but damn, 275% of the price of a regular book is a bit much.
I clicked expecting a video about the retro tech a mobile phone has replaced but instead got a four minute advert for a book. Very very misleading.
Awesome video, seen you around Norwich few times, wanted to say hello but didn't wanna ruin your filming 😇
I purchased your first book with great enthusiasm…and I can’t even read.
Uhh... saw a glimpse of the Amstrad NC100 in there...
Maybbie
Really looking forward to this! Loved the first book!
How did you know I had Dire Straits on my phone ready to blast into my ears regardless of whether or not I have that particular Walkman?
Oh cool! I've won a contest that I didn't enter! I'd better get my bat so I can hit you up as hard as possible! 🤑
Curious note, here in Mexico we are also acquiring the term "mobile" for cell phones. Seems saying cell phone is mostly used now for older non-smart phones now, at least here.
Funny thing is I have a Dire Straits cassette tape lying around 😂
Shameless plug for that Nostalgia Nerd guy
How much is he paying you?

You've been nostalgia nerd, but are you still?
I lusted over the Amstrad Notepad for years. Never got to own one.
Yes, pre-ordered it. And second copy of retro tech. Nice!
Glass is a very retro tech and most phones use it to cover the screen.
Bumbag
Northern Ireland is part of the UK...
Fourth prize gets you Sarah all year..
You mean we have to use our hands!? That's a baby's toy!
I do have a soft spot for portable stuff... its probably where I do the most gaming. Hell, I had a palm pilot at one point and it was mostly used for playing Wonderswan games. :P (and yes, LCD games count!)
Wonderswan games seem like an odd choice. Exactly what Palm handheld was it?
@@jnharton No idea at all. It was decades ago now. I remember it having dark blue plastic and a "lid" that clipped onto the back. I may have been a generic "digital organiser" of some kind. Either way, it didn't do much, and finding out it could handle portable games was a boredom cure.

Just bought both books on Amazon. :-)
Man, that VHS tape hoodie is *chef's kiss*
Now, I don't want to brag, but I've developing an app and a plug-in adapter that will convert your phone into a fully, semi-functional Sinclair C3!
Shutup and take my money! 💰
Yo I'm going to be 100% honest,
I have used your book as an guide to many systems that I don't own and probably will never (e.g. the Jaguar) and only emulate the 3 games you mention genuinely speaking I agree with your choices.
Interesting
Yeah, I guess "fanny pack" must conjure up some interesting images in the UK.😆
If your not already, you’ll soon be as rich as 😂J.K. Rowling 😂
0:51 The terminology "cell phone" is NOT unique to the US! That's not even REMOTELY the case!
well done on the new book!
So cool to see you! I've watched tons of your videos. And only nerds could understand the excitement!
fresh cut m8
That's one of the Xmas prezzies my misses can get me then. loved the last book and got it for Xmas. Shame I'm excluded for living in Northern Ireland though on the give away🤦🏻♂️
Roll on 13th!
Hi Peter, just a 'heads up', I've tried pre-ordering the Audible version using my credits and it consistently goes to a dead link displaying: 'We’re sorry. The Web address you entered is not a functioning page on our site.' I just thought I'd let you know... Ben
"My name is Nostalgia Nerd." Is that what your passport says?
ohhhh... so THAT is all the retro tech inside my phone. It's a book that's coming out. Every day is a school day.
I hope the exclusion of occupied Ireland doesn't restart the Troubles, Peter...
Preorderd
Congrats, man. I've been trying to get published for a long time. I know how much hard work it is. And to do it twice? Congrats, again. I can't wait to get my copy.

On pre-order (as you know!) looking forward to it!
Wait a second it’s your second book?!😮
new book looks great, think I'll get myself a copy for christmas.
You cover some of the most nostalgic content... that a lot cover in a very mundane way, but you do it in an interesting way. Unfortunately I only stumbled upon you a couple weeks ago, but I guess I got years of videos to watch.
Ordered. 😁 Think I spotted a few items I owned back in the day! 😁
Didn't know! Instantly bought both!
I like you very much and will be buying your books. I also think that maybe you smell a little like milk. Is this true?
NICE!!! I’ll look forward to reading it sir.
I want that VHS hoodie
The fact that you've already got an audio book ready for launch is what sold me. You got my dollars.
Hi. I've seen the book on eBay as well. As i use PayPal can i purchase it there?
It’s like a retro tech Wikipedia in print. Preordering once it’s on your Twitter.
I have ready ordered the new,
And I ordered the 2018 book on Amazon.
The U.K but not N.I. So you mean Great Britain?😂
