They did it because without the mechanics needed to move the seat they were able to place the seat lower. Lower seat means lower roof and lower center of gravity, so better handling.

My Ram pickup truck has adjustable pedals...only they are electronically controlled...and if you use the memory button it's tailored to the drivers preferences...bfd on a Ferrari...
