Thank you, this video actually helped me! At first I thought I had to download the content and when I did, it created more problems but I never thought that there was another method to it. Now with the transfer method, it was much simpler and all my emails actually transferred over to my personal gmail account. With the download method, not all of my emails were downloaded and wouldn't copy over to my personal account. The transfer method also made me worry at first because as it was transferring over, I noticed the number of emails was low but that was just cause it was slowly updating. After 30 minutes, everything was in my personal gmail! I'm glad this was done quickly so I wouldn't have to think about it, since my college account is going to be deactivated at the end of the month. Thanks Eric!
Hey there guys, I've noticed many people having the same problem of their organization not enabling the transfer. Why the problem is happening: When you want the transfer to begin, it switches you into logging into your target (not school) account, which doesn't have transfer enabled for it, so that's why it shows up that message. It doesn't let you simply switch into your school account for the process. For me, my non-school account was the default account of my chromebook, so it naturally switched to this. How to fix it: There may be other ways, but my technique was to use a computer which wasn't a chromebook, (so it wouldn't prefer one google account over the other). If you don't have another computer, I imagine logging into your chromebook with your school account (on the start screen) should work :) I've heard that logging into an incognito browser works too
Haven't tried since my univ. account is active as of this moment., but will get back to this video once tested. but just want to say that this video is a very concise, easy to understand, and helpful guide! thank you very much!
This is so helpful! Thank you for making this video. I have been searching for this information everywhere. I'm so thankful to have found this video, thank you again!
Great video! Just a word of advice, the trasnfer bugged out on me in the last step. I solved it by logging off my destination account. It then worked and I was brought to the confirmation page!
Thank you for the detailed post, I have two questions: 1- Once the transfer is initiated is there a way to cancel it? 2- Once the transfer is done, will there be a provision to do the transfer process again after some time or to another account?
A word of caution, I have not tested this yet, but If the original files stay in place this must mean a new file ID is created and anywhere the original file ID is used will still point to the original file. So if the original account is due for deletion by the administrator then files that have links to other files using the file ID’s will not work as expected. For example, spreadsheets with content from other sheets.

I love your video. I have a question though. How can I upload the files I downloaded through googletakeout menu? For example, I downloaded my classoom files through takeout menu.(cause I can't transfer the classroom data to another account through googletakeouttransfer) I wonder whether I could open the classroom files I downloaded in another g suite account.
I’m so sad because I’m entering Uni graduated hs 2022 ( a couple months ago) but completely forgot to transfer my info from hs to my personal gmail. The drive was BY my school email and they switched the password because I’m obviously not there anymore and theirs no way for me to get the valuable info I had 😭😭😭
I called the IT department from my HS and they unblocked it for a bit so I could transfer my school emails/google drive documents over to my personal account. I would just give them a call.
Is there an easy way to choose specific folders within your school drive account to transfer? I don't have enough storage in my personal google account! (and don't really want to pay for more! 😬

I am not aware of a way to stop the copy process once it starts, but you can delete the copied files as needed to free up room. All of the copied files will be going into one new folder, so you can find them there.
Can anyone help? I've tried transferring my data from my school account, but for some reason it auto switches me to my personal gmail and wont transfer the content. How do I fix this?
Turn off "Allow Chrome Sign-In" from your personal account in the settings of the Chrome browser. I did that and it no longer auto-switched me to my personal account when starting the transfer from my school account.
Mr. Eric you explained so well I really appreciate. Your accent is very good to understand for non English speaking people.
Thank you! Recently graduated high school and I've had my school email since 4th grade. Everything worked just fine :)
I'm graduating this year into uni and this was what I've been searching for! Thanks!

Thank you but how can we organized it afterwards so it wont be mixed up with the Google account that it was transferred to.
Terimakasih video anda sangat membantu, meskipun saya harus lama mempelajarinya, karena Bahasa Inggris saya kurang bagus

What if it says I don’t have enough space to fully download everything
So how do you import to another gmail personal account? Is there an easy way to doing this?

Any chance there's an easy way to do this with Microsoft/Office 365? Great video, as always!
