Did it work for you .I'm really having tough time to gain complete command over it. It's not like I'm wasting my life energy when it attacks.It's bothering me randomly like once in 6 months or when i encounter with some disturbing scenes unknowingly. it will rise again .But I am taking care not to waste my energy. For married men, the Hindu scriptures dictate: "Ek Naari, Sadaa Brahmchari..." meaning that if you treat all women, other than your wife, as either mother, sister, or daughter, then you are a perfect brahmchari. This is even if you have normal, healthy sexual relationship with your wife, which is essential in a committed marriage. Abstinence at mental level is tougher than at physical level. For better mental abstinence, you have to follow the instructions mentioned in this video.

There is an exchange of energy during these times. If you're trying to live a life of renunciation, it is helpful to avoid these things. If you're hugging someone you love and loves you, go ahead. Use your common sense. But listen inside. Do you feel uplifted by the encounter or pulled down? Use that as your barometer.
To add further weight to arguments for emotion control, I was impressed to recently learn of neurochemical dynamics, i.e., that emotions and desires cause the hypothalamus to release neuropeptides, which in excess can have deleterious effects first on the nervous system and then on other body cell systems, leaving their "fingerprints" on the entire mind-body system. An interesting tidbit of info that maybe someone else reading this will find useful to know.

Realize all of the war that is due to our attachment. People killing and emotionally damaging others to fulfill their desires. All the result of attachment. Life is about balance. Unfortunately, many women may leave if their sexual desires aren't fulfilled. But a person needs to realize that they are addicted. A person can't find balance until they admit to being addicts.

I am a married and was wondering about this exact kind of talk. I do not usually have any sexual desires but for the past several years now when my have been accommodating in this manner with my husband I get ill inside of the body with uti infections. I have gone to doctors and even had tests and ultrasounds done but they cannot find any reasons for this happening. I feel great otherwise my healing of this body has been oddly strange for me. I used to be ill for many many years and take medication 💊 from doctors but now I am almost completely off all of my medicines and feel much better except memory issues. Lol. I have noticed this too. Wise Men are realising the ravaging effects on body, mind and soul; of the current global porn addiction (facilitated by the internet and constant interaction with devices). I looked into it, as I was suffering from anxiety and depression and was seeking every and any tool available to me to heal. Stopping viewing porn and masturbation was a key to balancing my mental health, along with meditation, cold showers, vegetarian diet and many other suggestions from the Yogic life style.
Some people need to be at the bottom of the barrel before they realize they threw their whole life away binging on the pleasures of the world. The end up burnt out and spiritless. The importance of sex in relationships is the result of belief; peer influence. A lot of people have become addicts. And when a person is addicted they are attached. Attachment creates suffering. It creates the feeling of not being able to survive without something.
I think some powerful advice is given here, but honestly miss a simultaneous discussion of the importance to claiming, embracing and enjoying one's sexuality and having a core relationship to sex that is positive as a base for spiritual growth - and *then* controlling and moving the sexual energy towards higher ground. The positive aspects of human sexuality are under represented in Swamiji's approach, in my opinion, as given here. That said, if one is capable of having one's sexuality open and grounded in a loving relationship, being able to then balance and move the energy upward and thereby lessen the negative, compulsive, delusive and addictive aspects of sex can reduce sexual pain and life force depletion and bring great freedom and power to one's life. As Yogi Bhajan said, "it's a tricky balance". I think we as Westerners could benefit greatly getting an education about both signs of the coin.
Sex is part of a relationship but too many people these days put a high emphasis on that aspect. Sex is a wonderful and miraculous event, but we tend to degrade it with our obsession over it. Moderation is good, but a lot of society does not realize that. They do not see the "all" that is because they do not think about it. They act more than think. They absorb more than think. They are on cruise control headed nowhere. Their desires rule them. Some need to reach ultimate defeat to realize.
I'm on the path myself. Sex is really a strong force, and hard to resist the urge to watch and act. Lets be strong and give all our focus in the direction of the ultimate.

How about using the creative force that would have been used to make a baby and manifest what you want to. It shouldn't be shamed. It is a gift given to us as we incarnate which is not present in the other realm. so yes do not abuse it like all other things but its beneficial to not shame yourself and create bounds that you may not do. An attraction is normal, so why must you shame yourself or think its not right, or not touch. all humans are your brothers and sisters. God wants us to be free and express all powers given to us and use them to the full potential.

I understand what is being explained, but It may come as a surprise to know, that 'even' in the West, people are born without need of sex for gratification, or any reason at all, full stop. Even if they dislike it, they will engage for the sake of the partner. You see, sex can also be a selfless act. Self control is not an issue.

Hi Katarzyna, this is what Yogananda suggested to those who were living a monastic life as monks and nuns, when being with the opposite sex. Through the eyes, and through shaking hands, a subtle magnetism gets exchanged (energy, prana). This advice is also valid for everyone when dealing with people whose energy is very negativ or dark, if your own energy is not strong enough to be a "positiv magnet", or a positive influence.
Dear Marius, I understand and can relate to your frustration. I too am a man and have been with Ananda for over 30 years. I have had contact with Swami Kriyananda for many years and have heard him speak on almost every subject possible. He is he kindest man I have ever met. God loves you without condition. God set up this world. Talk to Him and tell Him how frustrated you are. Let me pose a few questions: What would be harder on you spiritually or emotionally, hatred or sex? Being mean spirited or sex? Having resentments or having sex? Please be kind to yourself. Look at yourself as God or Master would see you. Remember, kindness and unconditional love. Work on the big stuff first, like hatred, anger, resentments, etc. To do that, have daily contact with God. As your consciousness raises-anger and resentments will diminish. They might not completely go away for a long while, but it is directional. God wants you to try. In my experience, as my consciousness is raised, sex becomes less of a big deal. Don't subject yourself to things that bring you down or fuel your anger, etc. Swami told us about twenty years ago to "have sex occasionally" or " make it an occasion." Now, when he created the Nayaswami order, he encourages "once a month." To people who have taken the Nayaswami vows, celibacy is part of this vow. He also said to not look at the opposite sex in the eyes. Look at the point between the eyebrows. Take it from someone who has struggled as you have. Be kind to yourself.
Thanks for replying. I mean I have raised my conciousness already much. Have lost my ego etc. Have a relation with God/Spirit. But i cant build from the root up, when im sexualy frustrated(having no sex with a girl/tired of masturbaing), or sexualy insecure(not much expeience) i believe the whole meditation/celabicy/kundalini stuff, But I need to satisfy this part of my ego/personality first, After that i may have a relationship, or im less obsessed due to have experienced it, so after i can continue more effective my spirituality. I always felt i live my life reversed i.e. i found my spirituality -first- ...(but in the beginning it was escapism of body/life/accepting reality/personality) -...SO i need sexuality (i dont mean jerking!) to be grounded and built -to not destroy that what i have build. Spiritual or not. I have been very patient, And now it sometimes happens, when i might be in position to have sex, i dont feel a drive, but when the opportunity is over, i am way more frustrated and destructive,unforfilled,and maybe tempted to jerk/watch porn, then when i would have gotten sex. I guess its psychological mostly, but do you understand that i need it for my peronality/spiritual processes. I will always find that the eastern ways are much more wise thatn the western, but im western. And when im in that spiritual realm that we are all one spirit(GOD), i always lose evrything earthly, like housekeys, money,wallet, etc. So in this damn world, we need ego. What u think.
Marius Scheijgrond You are way too worried, It is natural and very basic and almost everyone have problem with one or more emotions. so don't take it too hard. There are much more complicated, hard things to worry about. I will give some key points based on what u wrote :: (Don't take them for granted, they need lot of practice) Don't judge or take things for granted. (you are not what you think you are, if u think so prove evrything to urself). Prove all the things below if you are not. I am your ego saying the below. Frustration comes from desire, desire comes from false attribution. Because you attribute the girl to be different based on her emotions and life experiences you desire her, but she is internally you. So do not desire you. it is you. sex is not love(another false attribution). fear of love. satisfy your ego, it is ok. whatever you do, do it with no fickle mind. reduce your ego naturally. but ego grows more as you satisfy it internally because u become slave. Alter desire is because of stubborn nature in your child hood during which time you dont have enough power to counter. the thumb rule you develop is to do things opposite to what other want(you want). let it go. Desire is just an after math of not realizing that everything is you. See everything is you, and feel everything around u. Keep your senses open and be in the moment you can reduce the desire to desire. There is no end to life, there is always pain, restrictions and limitations. Only way to make it better is push yourself more than before(it depends how much u push)

Vishnu has equal amounts of male and female qualities. If one has true self control then they will treat both sexes with equal respect as they both deserve. Practice makes perfect. Don’t avoid shaking hands or looking someone in the eyes. Everyone has both female and male qualities. Please don’t take my word for it. I’ve meditated on this for some time and you should do the same.

To add further weight to arguments for emotion control, I was impressed to recently learn of neurochemical dynamics, i.e., that emotions and desires cause the hypothalamus to release neuropeptides, which in excess can have deleterious effects first on the nervous system and then on other body cell systems, leaving their "fingerprints" on the entire mind-body system. An interesting tidbit of info that maybe someone else reading this will find useful to know.

I am a married and was wondering about this exact kind of talk. I do not usually have any sexual desires but for the past several years now when my have been accommodating in this manner with my husband I get ill inside of the body with uti infections. I have gone to doctors and even had tests and ultrasounds done but they cannot find any reasons for this happening. I feel great otherwise my healing of this body has been oddly strange for me. I have noticed this too. Wise Men are realising the ravaging effects on body, mind and soul; of the current global porn addiction (facilitated by the internet and constant interaction with devices).
I looked into it, as I was suffering from anxiety and depression and was seeking every and any tool available to me to heal. Stopping viewing porn and masturbation was a key to balancing my mental health, along with meditation, cold showers, vegetarian diet and many other suggestions from the Yogic life style.
Some people need to be at the bottom of the barrel before they realize they threw their whole life away binging on the pleasures of the world. The end up burnt out and spiritless. The importance of sex in relationships is the result of belief; peer influence. A lot of people have become addicts. And when a person is addicted they are attached. Attachment creates suffering. It creates the feeling of not being able to survive without something.

I think some powerful advice is given here, but honestly miss a simultaneous discussion of the importance to claiming, embracing and enjoying one's sexuality and having a core relationship to sex that is positive as a base for spiritual growth - and *then* controlling and moving the sexual energy towards higher ground. The positive aspects of human sexuality are under represented in Swamiji's approach, in my opinion, as given here. That said, if one is capable of having one's sexuality open and grounded in a loving relationship, being able to then balance and move the energy upward and thereby lessen the negative, compulsive, delusive and addictive aspects of sex can reduce sexual pain and life force depletion and bring great freedom and power to one's life. As Yogi Bhajan said, "it's a tricky balance". I think we as Westerners could benefit greatly getting an education about both signs of the coin.
Sex is part of a relationship but too many people these days put a high emphasis on that aspect. Sex is a wonderful and miraculous event, but we tend to degrade it with our obsession over it. Moderation is good, but a lot of society does not realize that. They do not see the "all" that is because they do not think about it. They act more than think. They absorb more than think. They are on cruise control headed nowhere. Their desires rule them. Some need to reach ultimate defeat to realize.
Having sex merely for pleasure was frowned upon at one time in our history.

It is a gift given to us as we incarnate which is not present in the other realm. so yes do not abuse it like all other things but its beneficial to not shame yourself and create bounds that you may not do. I understand what is being explained, but It may come as a surprise to know, that 'even' in the West, people are born without need of sex for gratification, or any reason at all, full stop. Hi Katarzyna, this is what Yogananda suggested to those who were living a monastic life as monks and nuns, when being with the opposite sex. Through the eyes, and through shaking hands, a subtle magnetism gets exchanged (energy, prana). This advice is also valid for everyone when dealing with people whose energy is very negativ or dark, if your own energy is not strong enough to be a "positiv magnet", or a positive influence.

Dear Marius, I understand and can relate to your frustration. I too am a man and have been with Ananda for over 30 years. I have had contact with Swami Kriyananda for many years and have heard him speak on almost every subject possible. He is he kindest man I have ever met. God loves you without condition. God set up this world. Talk to Him and tell Him how frustrated you are.
Let me pose a few questions: What would be harder on you spiritually or emotionally, hatred or sex? Being mean spirited or sex? Having resentments or having sex? Please be kind to yourself. Look at yourself as God or Master would see you. Remember, kindness and unconditional love. Work on the big stuff first, like hatred, anger, resentments, etc. To do that, have daily contact with God. As your consciousness raises-anger and resentments will diminish. They might not completely go away for a long while, but it is directional. God wants you to try. In my experience, as my consciousness is raised, sex becomes less of a big deal. Don't subject yourself to things that bring you down or fuel your anger, etc.
Swami told us about twenty years ago to "have sex occasionally" or " make it an occasion." Now, when he created the Nayaswami order, he encourages "once a month." To people who have taken the Nayaswami vows, celibacy is part of this vow. He also said to not look at the opposite sex in the eyes. Look at the point between the eyebrows.
Take it from someone who has struggled as you have. Be kind to yourself.
Thanks for replying. I mean I have raised my conciousness already much. Have lost my ego etc. Have a relation with God/Spirit. But i cant build from the root up, when im sexualy frustrated(having no sex with a girl/tired of masturbaing), or sexualy insecure(not much expeience) i believe the whole meditation/celabicy/kundalini stuff, But I need to satisfy this part of my ego/personality first, After that i may have a relationship, or im less obsessed due to have experienced it, so after i can continue more effective my spirituality. I always felt i live my life reversed i.e. i found my spirituality -first- ...(but in the beginning it was escapism of body/life/accepting reality/personality) -...SO i need sexuality (i dont mean jerking!) to be grounded and built -to not destroy that what i have build. Spiritual or not. I have been very patient, And now it sometimes happens, when i might be in position to have sex, i dont feel a drive, but when the opportunity is over, i am way more frustrated and destructive,unforfilled,and maybe tempted to jerk/watch porn, then when i would have gotten sex. I guess its psychological mostly, but do you understand that i need it for my peronality/spiritual processes. I will always find that the eastern ways are much more wise thatn the western, but im western. And when im in that spiritual realm that we are all one spirit(GOD), i always lose evrything earthly, like housekeys, money,wallet, etc. So in this damn world, we need ego. What u think.

You are way too worried, It is natural and very basic and almost everyone have problem with one or more emotions. so don't take it too hard.
There are much more complicated, hard things to worry about.
I will give some key points based on what u wrote :: (Don't take them for granted, they need lot of practice)
Don't judge or take things for granted. (you are not what you think you are, if u think so prove evrything to urself). Prove all the things below if you are not. I am your ego saying the below.
Frustration comes from desire, desire comes from false attribution. Because you attribute the girl to be different based on her emotions and life experiences you desire her, but she is internally you. So do not desire you. it is you. sex is not love(another false attribution). fear of love.
satisfy your ego, it is ok. whatever you do, do it with no fickle mind. reduce your ego naturally. but ego grows more as you satisfy it internally because u become slave.
Alter desire is because of stubborn nature in your child hood during which time you dont have enough power to counter. the thumb rule you develop is to do things opposite to what other want(you want). let it go.
Desire is just an after math of not realizing that everything is you. See everything is you, and feel everything around u.
Keep your senses open and be in the moment you can reduce the desire to desire.
There is no end to life, there is always pain, restrictions and limitations. Only way to make it better is push yourself more than before(it depends how much u push)
