- Palworld looks like to be one of the biggest releases in 2024 and it's starting off strong, taking over Steam Charts and being a very well perceived game by most of their fan base, of course it is not without it's share of Drama by enthusiastic Pokemon fans that are definitely not looking happy for this game's success, going as far as calling it numerous things like AI Generated content or plagiarism. In my opinion Palworld's success can be used as an example for Pokemon to look for what type of game their fanbase really wants.

Honestly, most of the pokemon fans I have seen are actually supportive of this game because it shows to Nintendo how successful a pokemon like game can be if you don't rush it in 3 years on a 3ds engine.
Man try every other year for a while back during 5th, 6th, and 7th gen. We skipped so many generations in less time than the first 3 combined.
That is so true, I stopped after ORAS because even though I love Hoenn as a whole the game it wasn’t unite there in terms of the best games with the battle frontier being but never released, which was an awful troll move that I’ll never let The Pokémon Company and Game Freak live down.

All Pokemon ripped off Kinder Surprise Eggs, as their body shape looks like an egg in the middle, and Pokemon torso oddly look like egg shells kind of soft

palworld resembles Dragon Quest 5 and SMT more than it does pokemon.

I don’t understand these people, being a fan of Pokémon is what made me try this game in the first place and I love it. More games with cute creatures in it, works for me!
Ngl tho, just looking at the trailer, so many things are copycats about it. There's Dedenne Electabuzz hybrid, chubby tropius, etc. When I saw that they went back into pokeballs and the villians look like gym leaders, I was like yup they trying to make a better version of pokemon by adding some different elements to it like fps. Looks much more polished than Gamefreak's recent buggy open world games tho, like Scarlet and Violet.

I'm with u, OP. When I played Legends Arceus I found myself wishing Nintendo would fully commit to the gritty, survival-against-pokemon lore that it was trying to do. I wanted Tauros meat, not potato mochi. Now, years later, Palworld was dropped on our laps and is exactly that.
It's an Early Access game. That runs far better than much of the AAA titles that launched in 2023. And the fact that the devs are making games based on what they think people really wants-Pokemon with guns in Ark Survival and ugly character models- became my reason to buy it.
Totally! it's justified it runs like an early access game for being it is, then comes AAA titles that release a half-ass unpolished for 60$. Worth mentioning Palworld has fair regional price 👏

But its so lovable and fun that i have almost 100 hours on it and will probably be at it for a good while.
The sad part is that the level of jank of Palworld is still lightyears ahead of how badly made some AAA games are. Compared to them, we might well call Palworld a retail release.
Let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. Palworld is not an optimization catastrophe like Ark or Cities Skylines 2, but I wouldn't give it compliments for optimization either.
I guess it's well optimized for an early access indie open world game, but compared to AAA games where actual effort went into optimization, it stinks

For many people, Black & White 2 were the best in the series. Alongside Emerald and some other ones. Most people already forgot about Scarlet & Violet, I even see a person on public transport recently who consistently plays Pokemon Platinum on their 3DS than the new Pokemon games.
Any thing that can push Nintendo to put proper effort into Pokemon is a win for me, especially if it means the next remake is closer to Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire than Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl

Nintendo needs to STOP their Pokemon Dual Version BS and start making a GOOD 3D Pokemon game that resembles the Anime’s freedom and adventure.
The only thing Palworld lacks are Towns and Cities since its in the Wild. But the mechanics so far are better than most Pokémon games.
An interesting thing to note: Palworld and TLOU2 Remastered came out on the same day, but Palworld completely overshadowed TLOU2R's release (completely deserved), leading to Naughty Dog devs also joining the hate wagon, parroting the same baseless slanders against Palworld

Palworld is awesome, fun to play, unique, engaging and the fact that it exists on PC as well is awesome too unlike the Pokemon games but I feel like there's an aspect missing that, it doesn't has a story (like Pokemon does) but still Palworld is much more fun to play.

Yeah, have to keep Early Access in mind. More is soon to come I'm sure!
I mean, it is a survival game at its core, those kind of games are mechanical, a story just doesn't fit too much with the style or the gameplay loops. If you added a story on top, it would feel kind of intrustive and break the gameplay loops that make it work well.
I rather prefer if it had smaller piecemeal stories ala skyrim sidequest, that would fit a bit better than an overarching story.
@@diablo.the.cheater Yeah I also like the idea of adding sidequests ,as the core gameplay may ruin otherwise, I love old Pokemon games (like Pokemon ash Gray, Pokemon Fire red, etc...) like they had leagues system --> Similar to that these guys can introduce a league championship system to compete for badges (PVP).

There was a store I used to work for only one month. The person in charge taught me that if you are not going all out on keeping your customer interested, they will just go to the competitor. It's that simple. She taught me that DAY ONE. Well, it seems like Game Freaks never got taught that lesson.
And it's still in early access. Meaning, there's still LOTS of room for improvements and content in the future which I'm excited about.
The diehard Pokémon/Nintendo fans are some of the most pitiful people in videogames, they will defend Nintendo even if it spits on their faces. You can make the case for Xbox and Playstation, but jesus christ look at the quality of the Pokémon games, at least the other two put some effort on the smallest projects (most of the time).

Palworld w/ monster taming literally refresh the survival sandbox formula. Its engaging how the genre isnt half ass implemented in the game just to call it a mix-genre, and it works well giving new purpose for openworld and survival sandbox from "Pal" varient based crafting to exploring in search of new species. Its not just a meme game, but that helped the indie team marketing the game.
P.S: Palworld being simplified its accessible, its QoL and inventory management spoiled me from playing Enshrouded 😅

As a Pokemon fan, im actually proud of the devs in Palworld because this is like Pokemon but from another universe if Gamefreak putted more effort on their games
Openworld that is actually rich and fun, Pal designs are more authentic to the OG Pokemon artstyle than the modern one, fun lore and many settlements with NPCs (unlike Legends Arceus).
The list goes on.

Yes I love Pokemon, but not only is Palworld infinitely better than modern Pokemon games, it also is like all of our community moved here now.
Hopefully this competition can FINALLY push Gamefreak to care.

My favourite part about Palworld is that people compare it to Pokemon, even though the game is extremely different. Yes, it has a bit of character design and game mechanics that are very similar, but I'd say it's far closer to being a copy of Ark than Pokemon. I'm excited for all the updates, assuming they actually work on the game and not make it be a cash grab.

It's funny, as a genunner who always thought the later games were trash, Palworld is the first "Pokemon" game that got me really excited again. So thanks for proving it's not nostalgia goggles, Gamefreak games just became unimaginative drivel.

@@jointser1008 Personally I do not like the design direction of the fifth gen, tho it had pretty good story and balance, I just didn't like any mon of that gen except the legends and even the legends not soo much. Is not even about the key pokemon or the trash pokemon as there has always been object mons... Its just that... IDK how to explain it, the way they were designed rubs me the wrong way, for example. And from there it was the same, I liked just a very select few in a given generation but not the rest. The designs from 5th gen onwards look off to me. Is not specific mons, is just the general style of them, most of them seem ugly to me. Palworld designs instead evoke a feeling of awesome that new pokemon designs seem to lack, even when the palworld design in question is a mix of 2 or 3 pokemons that I don't like individually, somehow the mix of them I like.
@@jointser1008 What I'm saying is after gen 2, I never felt that excitement again of playing Pokemon for the first time. It's always the same core game over and over again, so by gen 4, it was just more of the same to me. You also can't deny that if you judge compared to other games on the same console, gen 1-3 were console defining masterpieces, whereas the DS games were just sitting in the middle and riding off the success of Pokemon as a franchise, rather than being amazing games in their own right.
@@seeibe Platinum was goated one of the best pokemon games not really comparable to Diamond/pearl which feels like a beta version of platinum. BW has the best story and BW2 is amazingly well done taking a deeper look. the amount of things to do details and nice little sidequests are insane gamefreak really put a lot of efforts back in the days. yes it always repeats itself but atleast from gen 1-5 gamefreak was actually trying to deliver great games.
@@diablo.the.cheater I also think gen 1-4 has the greatest designs BUT gen5 also delivers a few of my all time favorites. like Zoroark,Krookodile,Hydreigon,Haxorus or Volcarona. Same applies to gen6 with pokemons like Greninja,Talonflame,gogoat or Pangoro. gen7 and afterwards was the downfall of pokemon desingns and gen6 of quality imo. Gen7 being the worst in terms of pokemon designs except the starter pokemons.

As a fellow Pokémon fan myself, I love Palworld for 2 reasons.
1) Its fun and does new things with the monster catching concept. Is it just ripping off 4 types of gameplay? No, games are inspired by other things all the time. They could have tried a tad harder to make the game seem a bit more unique, but its a lot of fun as it is.
2) Its challenging the Pokémon Company to step it up. Prior to Palworld's success, Pokémon didn't have a rival that saw a ton of success. There were other games like Temtem and Coromon that tried to make their own Pokémon like game that actually do less to hide their Pokémon inspiration. I'm glad to see a monster catching RPG that does new things with the formula be so successful. Its the kick in the ass the Pokémon Company needed. I want them to push for more innovation in future mainline games and to have more polish than the crap we had on the Switch.
Thank you Palworld for being fun and a motivator to the lazy group at the Pokémon Company. As the largest media franchise in the world, we know they have the money. Time to step it up on the Switch 2!
They tried so hard to cancel it too, lied about it having AI art, manipulated models to fabricate the similar comparisons to try and make it look like they stole models, and made a bunch of crap comparisons that just highlighted the originality of the Pals despite the similarities.
Well they got debunked hard, and Pocketpair is just a group of entry level Game devs that learned on the job, staye legit throughout the process, and showed nintendo and gamefreak how to make a good monster catcher game.

I'm not worried, it was more than just a single someone, they've already made made statement. Considering they already removed the dum dums pokemon mod, it's fairly clear they don't have a case against Palworld.
They issued a statement basically stating we are aware of Palworld's existence, please stop filling our phone lines and emails with spam.
They were investigating since day one and probably long before, but obviously realized that they have no legal recourse. All they've done now is publicly responded so everyone can shut up because deranged Twitter freaks kept spamming them to do something.
Man this is so accurate. I am a huge pokemon fan but I really like and enjoy palworld due to it just being better than any modern pokemon game. You can tell the palworld devs really care about what they craft while GameFreak on the other hand no so much. I will totally continue to support palworld and its devs : )

As a pokemon artist i care more about designs, but yeah, the gameplay really sucks nowadays. Hopefully it will push Nintendo to up its game, i think their planning on increasing the time till the next game so it will be more polished.

The game palworld has the mechanics that pokemon didn't had. Pokemon had turn-based combat and same repeated story fr decades while the new game palworld has mechanics that we would expect in a pokemon world. Like free slaves fr work, u can eat them and other shit u can do with them, and the best feature, it's real-time combat opens the gate to a vast majority of players who didn't like the turn-based pokemon games. I am a sucker fr pokemon games and I love this game, it's still in early access so maybe they will some add story in the full game hopefully.
honestly why do people have to pick a side? I love pokemon designs (as you can see in my profile picture) but Palworld is much more fun. I believe hardcore pokemon fans think Palworld is just suddenly going totally replace pokemon, but in reality that's not going to happen in the span of one month. They both have their ups and downs, and rather than replacing, it would probably teach the pokemon company to ups its game next time.

palworld is everything i wanted pokemon to be, if there was a giant charizard in the game or some of the legendaries imagine how much bigger palworld would be, hopefully nintendo wakes up for once (wont happen)
