This is great info O ought a pot of them they are so pretty they have some green seed pods on them. I maybe able to repot them in Autum/winter They are so so pretty
I have a white variety that has been growing in the ground for over 5 years on the east side of my back deck in zone 6b. Winter here occasionally get's down to -0 F.
I am waiting on my order of Bletilla Yokahoma I'm sure I miss spelled that but it's a lighter purple but it has a yellow throat and love that contrast . Thank you for posting !
+Baotran's Botanicals I wanted some like yours too but they sold out . I about order from Seattles orchids the have one that's a light cerulean colored one .
Yep, I grow this in the ground. It is a deciduous plant. Mine is shorter though. I would be surprised if the seeds germinate unless you sprinkle them at the base of the mother plant as they need mycorrhorizal fungus to germinate. There may be some already in the mother plants roots but there won't be any in a separate seed tray. Good luck and nice plant!
+Gardening at Douentza I don't think I could handle having more seedlings anyway. They require too much. I sowed some seeds in a jar and only some survived, but I can see little tiny growths. Of course it took a whole year. So much work and not worth it. That's why I don't even collect the seed pods anymore.
bletilla striata is one of the very few orchids, which you can grow without much hassle in ordinary soil, without a symbiotic fungus. i sowed mine on a paper towel ...
Where are you located? If in the US, Seattle Orchid always has them on sale. Sometimes for $6. I go to shows and they always have them for less than $10. They are more like the "forgotten" orchids and very little people buy them but I've never seen them for anything more than $10. Usually they're so cheap.
Baotran's Botanicals I'm in Southern California, but I seem to be strategically located away from most nurseries!! Haha. I've seen Seattle Orchid's website though, and they have really cool Zygopetalum hybrids.
+Ryan Joseph Constantino I'm guessing you aren't near Santa Barbara? If you can make it out there, it would be worth it to go to the Santa Barbara orchid show in March.
+Baotran's Botanicals I actually went there recently, and you're correct - I'm about 2.5 hours away from Santa Barbara. I bought one of my dream orchids there (Den. Ise 'Pearl') and I'm certainly going back for the show. They're going to be selling $7 seedlings! Can't pass that up.They specialize in Dendrobiums, and have quite an impressive selection of Aussie Dens.
+Ryan Joseph Constantino that's awesome! Hope you can find the Bletilla there then. Usually they're quite cheap. I want to go to the SB show but it's too far away from me. :(

They are so so pretty
This video was helpful thanks so much
These are much more cold hardy than you have mentioned. I grow them with very little mulch in zone 6 at the southern tip of Lake Michigan.
VERY NICE VIDEO AND YOU ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE
Such a lovely orchid. I have been trying to find this species but no luck so far. Maybe this year I will find one. Thanks for sharing!
Have to try Seattle Orchid? They always have these on discount.
I will need to try this one, its a lovely flower, good job
Definitely try it! I love it.
+Baotran's Botanicals but were to find it in Ohio?
Very nice thank you for sharing and giving us your knowledge about this orchid.
Thanks Caleb :)

What type of potting mix do you have your Chinese ground orchids ? Thank you
Hi! I have them in a mixture of peat moss and fine bark chips. About half and half.
I grow mine in "good" dirt. Lots of mulch mixed into the soil. Most prolific plant.
+ Baotran's Botanicals if you ever think about it I would love it if you could send me a seed pod or a division😀😀
Damn I got to get me some of these
+Growing Things I think they're like pleiones only very hardy and require very little work.
still I got to me some damnit
+Growing Things calm down fuzzy wabbit. I am looking for some white ones at the upcoming orchid show. If I see any I will get you one.
awe thanks B-Tran
I've been to a handful of nurseries and never see any terrestrials besides Paphs :(. Where do people get their Bletillas for cheap?!
