I found a bright orange fringed Orchid along my dirt road in N. Georgia last year. We've got lots of Crane Fly Orchids, Carolina Lillium & white and yellow Baptisia. So many good native plants!
The dendrobium mentioned at the end of the talk was Dendrobium moniliforme. We do still have Cymbidium goeringii growing in the garden. It was skipped in this video because they were growing in a different area than where the video and talk were filmed.
I had 2 beautiful bletilla orchids last year. They bloomed all year. Didn't come back this spring. Nothing left under the ground. WHY? Was it our brutal winter?
Hello! We purchase some of our Cypripedium from Germany, our cost includes international shipping, import fees, brokerage fees, etc. We also have to store them in a commercial refrigeration unit and pay labor cost. We are happy you are able to acquire your plant at such a low price, but it would be impossible for us to offer Cypripediums at that level and stay a business. Happy gardening!
I enjoy Doug's talks. Was sorry to see him leave the arboretum, but glad we still get to share him at his new location.

Also, why was cymbidium goeringii skipped? Are they still growing at PD?

It could have been the roller coaster of winter temps or possibly voles.
Doug is such a great educator. 👏👏
Do deer tend to eat these plants? Or are they a known favorite?
