It's one of the staples in our kitchen cupboards: canned tuna. Eight out of ten households buy it every year. It’s tasty, easy to cook, and relatively inexpensive. Tuna is one of the most consumed fish in the world, with a global market worth €33 billion.
To supply this market, the industry has developed a highly effective fishing technique, which threatens one of the most sold species, yellowfin tuna. This fishing method isn't exactly eco-friendly, yet it is carried out with the support of the European Union and funded by European taxpayers.
