When I miss Japan, it is often a food memory that triggers the feeling. I love and miss Japanese cuisine. Sharing a meal makes people like each other or as the feel closer with strong bond. Eating the same food leads to trust and cooperation because they feel closer with the feeling of intimacy among those eating together, share the experience with eating and drinking.
Oden is one of my favorite dish in Japan!! I almost eat them everyday when I visited Osaka last week XD! Thanks for teaching me how to do it at home =)
Looks delicious and authentic. Oishi! How to clean n prepare konyyaku? Wash? Boil? BTW your Japanese accent sounds different. Which part of Japan is this dialect?
I followed this and even though the daikon turned out a little teeny bit harder than I'd have liked, the broth and end result was amazing! Best oden broth ever, nothing like what you'd find outside. Thanks for this video😊
always wanted to try oden and you were adorable at the end of the video. its nice seeing you try what you make and your reactions. i feel like cooking channels should do this more. makes me want to make the recipes more hahahha
i see! thank you very much! this is why i LOVE cooking, sometimes the smallest change can either ruin or improve a whole dish :) i love this recipe btw! i will make it as soon as my family comes to visit me!
That looks so tasty! I've never had fish cakes or daikon, or pretty much everything you listed, but I want to try it so badly! I doubt I could find any of the ingredients listed where I currently live, but when I get back home, much bigger city, I'll have to try to make this.
This was my favorite winter comfort food while I was in Japan some 20 years ago and have been longing for it all these years.. I know its not an easy dish to prepare so thank you so much for sharing. I hope I can do this if I could buy all the ingredients online.... Ja desu ne...Gambette kudasai...More power to you. and keep posting pls...
I've always heard of diakon as japanese radish, but I can't imagine eating huge chucks of radish like that. Is it milder? I saw some at the store last week, maybe I'll just buy some and try it out. I am totally going to look for those condiments at my asian grocery, I love trying stuff out like that. Thanks for the great videos!
I don't like konnyaku that much so I made a mini oden with chikuwa and fried tofu cutlet. I thought that yuzu kosho was only for grilled chicken, I will try it with oden next time, thanks!
ochikeron-san, do you have any recommendation for sake and mirin subtitutes? lwhich taste almost or quite similar to sake and mirin but not alcoholic I can't consume any alcoholic ingredient, but I really want to try your recipes.
I always see alot of Japanese dish uses Yam cake, and I see them at the asian market where I live, I always wonder what it taste like?? And is it good??

I don't know where I got it while in Japan, but I have always put taro and hard-boiled eggs in as well....
I'm so happy that people are recently looking for ways to cook oden since the latest one piece. Oden wouldn't be oden if it wasn't boiled !!!
