SJSU athlete joins lawsuit targeting transgender athletes

In a gym full of fans cheering on the San Jose State University women’s volleyball team, sophomore Haley Kinkaid stands out with a streak of pink in her hair and her crop top shirt with the spartan mascot on the front. “I like sports, I like going to games, I like watching this, and I also love volleyball,” she said. Kinkaid plays club sports at the university and is part of the LGBTQ+ community on campus. However, her reasons for attending Thursday night’s game against San Diego State University went beyond the action happening on the court.
