      Thank you Grandad! It was the first engine, so the construction changed as the parameters are changed. It looks terrible with lots of cuts, but I think the people could make a working model with few cuts only if they follows the numbers, not my engines outer looks. :)

    Can you give relative dimensions of the cans? From the looks of things, and your accent, I would place you in Europe and it would appear your packaging is somewhat different than here in North America. Except for the Red Bull. That looks the same.

      Let me clarify, the diameters, you give the lengths..

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  Рік тому

      Yep Max, you've right! The soft can sizes are not same there and here. I will measuring the cans to you today and I'll write it to you. But the Red Bull one is nearly same as so that (or other similar) is good for cylinder. BLADE

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  Рік тому +1

      I measured the cans. The energy drink cans 250ml around 52,7-53 mm, the cylinder cans 330-355ml around 58mm The important thing the gap will be around 1,5-2,5mm between them because here we have gap-regeneration. BLADE

    • @maxkennedy5073
      @maxkennedy5073 Рік тому +1

      @@AttilaBlade Thankyou, I knew the gap was a critical measurement. I'll have to find some appropriate ones here.

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  Рік тому

      @@maxkennedy5073 I think you will find, but you could search different ones just see the difference. If you can choose then the iron/Fe signed cans better for displacer also for cylinder too! On the cold side you can change the iron to aluminium that's could be a good solution... BLADE

    Tried this with butane and it wouldn't run, but runs great on alcohol. Like to see a LTD low temperature version if possible.

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  3 роки тому

      Basically the aluminium can mold with that high temperature what Butane makes. The LTD is possible, I think my transparent engine was close to it. But I never try it with hot water unfortunately...

      @@AttilaBlade I cant figure out what you have on the bottom of the hot end. What is that?

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  2 роки тому

      @@QF2653 I think you ask me about the heat trap. That could help to hold some heat around the hot side before it leaves that side, also it could help a bit to the cold.side to be colder.

    I wish this could be made without failure prone rubber.

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  3 роки тому

      It is possible! Not too big deal if you have a lathe. The heat exchangers always the biggest challenge for it and the pressurising the other with alternator. :)

    Hi Blade, awesome videos. I am trying to replicate your free piston engine at a larger scale with a paint can. I have a few questions if you don't mind. The tiny hole you make in the shoulder of the can. I do not understand the full dynamic at play here. I realize it is to vent waste heat but any more details would be helpful. Like why it must be positioned where it is and what is taking place with that relative to the regeneration cycle?

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  4 роки тому

      Dear Caden, the pin hole is one of the most important thing in this construction, where we use membrane with hermetic sealing! because the pressure increasing after the heating process strat to blow up the membrane and strech it. The strained membrane has a really high frequency so the engine won't work. The hole is a partial loss but if we make a small as possible, (never pierce the needle across the wall) only with the tip than the hole will be enough to balance the pressure between the volumes. It is not neccessary for the power cylinder if the spring constant and the resonant frequency of the spring near by the whole unit frequency. Than the engine could starting it self. If we use pistons with tolerances than the holes are make losses only. The position of the hole is not important, but on the cold side it will be more comfortable. I've tried it with a tube with threaded cup. I opened it on the heating process first 40 secs, after I closed, the engine worked perfectly. Than I never opened it again, the vacuum sucked the membrane in but not damaged. And the next time it workd well too. For my BIG one the accordion has a high stroke possibility so I pushed down it and the engine started when the pressure was perfect for the engine. I hope it is help for you! I'm really interesting about your engine! Good luck! Greetings from Hungary! BLADE

    • @AttilaBlade
      @AttilaBlade  4 роки тому +1

      I've some new thinks... when the engine starts the pressure oscillation is more faster than the gas flow via that pin hole. The pressure/energy loss is pretty low there if the hole is small as possible. The regenerator a gap actually. That is not perfect here, much better any other solution. My goal was to develope the easiest but working model design from waste or cheap materials because too much people don't know anything about Stirling engines or over mystified it. :)
