To celebrate, I’ve decided to finally, after nearly a year, publish one of the songs I originally made this channel in order to share with the world: the Royal Anthem of the Albanian Kingdom of King Zog. This is the first ever full recording of the anthem which exists on the internet, which I have painstakingly reconstructed after trawling through footage from the Luce Institute. It is an original recording from the 1930s, during the actual reign of King Zog. This version unfortunately does not have lyrics, though I am trying to organise a modern recording of the anthem, which will include the lyrics, so stay tuned on my channel for that to hopefully eventually arrive! Fun fact: King Zog is the only modern monarch who has shot back at his assassin's, when they tried to kill him. He is also the greatest smoker in history, smoking dozens of cigarettes a day and having an extra alarm to wake him up during the night, so he can smoke.
He was a real madlad. Not only an incredibly fascinating and eccentric person with an incredible personal history, but also a genuinely great ruler who dragged Albania out of the Middle Ages and into the 20th century

@@ItsRufus99 His health did decline at the end of the 1950s and he died in 1961 at the age of 65, likely due to his heavy smoking, so yes it did catch him in the end but he lived a comparatively long time to smoke that heavily

Aye! I’m still working on getting a modern recording with lyrics organised, but I couldn’t wait any longer to post this gem here, so 5000 subscribers was a brilliant time to do it
King Zog for the ones who don't know became king due to his grandfathers desire to become so, who had ties with the russian king, but ended up poisioned.

My quest is not yet over though, I still plan to try to get a modern recording, with lyrics, made. Hopefully I can upload that to my channel eventually too!

Yes, this is the royal anthem, it’s still in use by the royal family. And yes, I have the lyrics, there just sadly doesn’t exist any recordings of them, so I’m trying to organise one

However, as far as I can tell, the lyrics there don’t match up entirely with the lyrics of the royal anthem. I think that’s because I believe this may be the republican version of the anthem, from before Zog became king
@@lafit9821 Yep, after some more research, this is indeed the Republican version, from the 1925-1928 republic, I managed to find the Republican lyrics too, they’re very similar to the ones later used during the monarchy, but crucially removes all mentions of monarchic symbols (such as “Throne of Skanderbeg”) and also says “Long Live Ahmet Zogu”, while the monarchist version is “Long Live Zog I”

I reconstructed it by combining pieces of it from a number of clips I found on the digital archives of the Luce Institute, took quite a while
