    This looks like so much fun! Thank you. I’m going to attempt to make one for my neighbor who is sick, but get so much joys out for her plants.

    Info missed stated: use PETG filament, if you want an easy AND very good 3DP then get a BambuLab X1C. I have an Ender3, was my starter, it works but so much extra effort/mods to get it to work. X1C being totally enclosed is key to success the first time not the last. Plus I've printed +1K hours on X1C with no down time and only two bad prints (that's on me).
    Moss Pole 3D: How long did it take to print:
    1 base?
    1 tube?
    1 top?

    Nice idea! Can you give us an update as the plants grow. I love the little video snips (updates on projects) you include in your videos.

    Omg moss poles. Love how sturdy these look - I’ve tried printing a few others but either they’re too fine around the body or the pins at the bottom aren’t solid enough to keep everything stable. Looking forward to giving these a go!

      Yeah I trialed a few thicknesses and I made these as easy as possible to print.
      There’s a thinner one for people with their printer dialled in, but for the rest of us…
      There’s the practical one hahah

    Excellent work! I would love to see your take on Dr. Nate Storey's zipgrow towers. It's inner growing medium is just TetraPond FK3 Filtration foam. I think you could use that in place of sphagnum moss.

    I do hydroponic vegetables indoors in the winter time. I am wondering, why use hydroponics for house plants? It seems like I rarely need to water my plants that are in dirt.

  • @khanzie

    I really love this and look forward to downloading joining to get the file but I feel like there is a problem after your plant is rooted into the pole you won’t be able to separate the sections. The roots will grow into different sections from where the node is and make it impossible to unscrew without twisting of the roots inside

    • @Hoocho
      @Hoocho  7 місяців тому

      I’ve thought about this, So the way I was going to get around that is by having segments in the screw that are essentially blanks, that don’t let the roots pass, and have a little reservoir below them, that you can fill with nutrient to feed the sections below.
      That way you could plan the cut ahead of time by adding a blank to where you think you’ll end up cutting, and that way you can cut the plant, then twist at the blank.
      No roots harmed.
      I will update the file with these segments soon.

    What makes these better then a normal one I don't have to 3d print? 😂 hydroponics is already a pretty niche subject and then you 3d print everything!. Still exceptional video filled with great information.

    Cost of 3d printer + filament + paying you for patreon sub to access models. Easier to use any tube cut holes and use the same concept. Appreciate the effort and love the vids but this one's a bit of a stretch compared to your other helpful uploads

    • @Hoocho
      @Hoocho  7 місяців тому +2

      This is for people that already have a 3D printer. Also, I just enjoy making stuff.
      Art for art sake.
      The real value in this is the things I learned doing it.
      Now I’d be comfortable to make a spagnum moss based vertical pipe system… it’s all there. You just have to look.
