    I could’ve watched this for like 8 hours straight I’m so sad it ended! It’s really refreshing to hear about struggles and mistakes, TL yarncrafts just did a video about making a top down sweater and it was the same. I love seeing that the people I look up to and admire in this craft still struggle just like me. It makes you guys more relatable.

    I've had many of the same frustrations with this shawl. This is my first mkal year and what a ride it has been! If I could have seen the design before starting, I probably would have not knit this but now that I have, I am obsessed. Stephen's unique ability to use the most basic techniques to create something so outrageous, its genius! I truly think the colors you choose make all the difference and that is what has kept me going through all the moments where I felt like quitting. The challenge and constant changing of each section has been such a treat whereas most my knitting is garments with easy construction and stockinette. It makes me want to choose more indepth projects that require more concentration now.

      I completely agree with you! I wouldn't have picked this shawl if I saw the picture either, which is why it's still fun even if I don't love it at the end. I love how Stephen pushes us to try new things!

    Seriously, a cliffhanger? 😂 Fun video. I also waited until the end of Clue 1 to do the braiding, I felt like it was a fun reward after all that knitting! However, this year, I decided ahead of time that I was going to "embrace my own pace" as Stephen likes to say, because I also wanted to continue to work on other projects, which I have happily done. I am going to continue working at a slow pace while I also hopefully get some designing done.

    “I’m looking at it as an experiment “ That was me the entire time, particularly the purl garter & the type of shortrows (I much prefer wrap and turns or German) lol. I decided that is the point of doing a Westknits MKAL and I can adjust if I decide to knit another, although seriously if next year’s has shortrows I am doing ones I like.
    I am amazed you managed to stay “on track” even if not completely. It took me till Saturday to finish Clue 1 and Sunday for Clue 2, I did manage to finish Clue 3 on Thursday just in time to get a few rows of Clue 4 done lol. I can’t knit at work pretty much at all though so there is a large chunk of time counted out, embracing my pace lol. Although I did have to frog half of section 4 since I was doing “twisted” cables instead of “wavy” for the 8st. After a fair bit of internal debate I resigned myself to rekinitting them since I wanted to do the pattern “right”

    I did the same thing with the increases. But the worst mistake I made was decreasing on rows where no decrease was required so basically my shawl never increased correctly. Have I frogged it? NO. . . no. No instead, because I'm brilliant and creative and stupid all at once, I decided to add a little interest by switching out the contrast color for the pop. However, I failed to notice that I was actually at the end of my repeat journey and so the section is ending on a pop which, at this point I think we all would know that that's HORRIBLE. So. Have I frogged it? No. Am I going to add another row of my MC? Probably.

    Re: stickers - I've begun storing my yarn in clear plastic shoeboxes, and those have become my things to use stickers on! It's a fun bit of decoration that doesn't overly impede my ability to see what's inside each box ( so far, at least, as I haven't owned many stickers before recently lol )

    I hope this doesn’t come across as snotty, but have you considered switching to continental knitting? I made the switch about eight years ago - nearly ten years into my knitting - and I’m 2X faster and 4x faster with ribbing!! It literally changed my knitting life forever!

      I do both myself. I especially like continental for ribbing. And oddly enough, I pick up stitches doing continental. For straight knitting, I'm a picker. Having the ability to do continental helps with color work.

    Hey! I went to try and look at your ball winder and swift on your Amazon front! I can't find it in any of the folders!

      FYI. I purchased my winder and the swift from Amazon. First do a search on the web for yarn swift; the different sites will show a winder in your search. Don’t buy a plastic swift, buy wooden! Happy hunting.

      Don’t look up me! I bought it 10 years ago and I’m probably not in their records. Look up YARN SWIFT not ball winder.

    Hi! Where do you find that update button in revelry? I'm having trouble finding updated pdfs on knit companion.

    • @KnittyNatty
      @KnittyNatty  Рік тому

      The update is in your Ravelry library! I sometimes have an issue getting the new PDF onto KnitCompanion too. A workaround I've found is to open the new pattern PDF from my email (Ravelry sends an email for updates) and then click the arrow at the top to "open in another app". That's when I click KnitCompanion and it prompts a new project. I hope this helps!

    Accent color is NOT working with the other two colors. Neon yellow works better.
