- I'm going to be building some new warbands for Ravenfeast, SAGA and The Barons' War Conquest and my first port of call was the awesome collection of 28mm plastic Historical miniatures from Victrix Miniatures. I thought I'd do a quick review of the Norman Infantry and Late Saxons that will be making up my warbands!

I have a look at the two Skirmish Sets that you can get for both the Normans and the Late Saxons. These give you around thirty miniatures that are great for making warbands for most games. You can also get these 28mm Historical wargaming miniatures in larger sets which offer you more choices.
Let me know what you think of the Victrix plastics!

I love Victrix minis. Have built Saxons, Vikings and Normans for the Barons War Conquest rules.
Ah awesome - I am SO close to buying some more and getting Vikings and some Norman Crossbowmen to slot into the collection.
@@BecauseOfDragonsthe archer-slinger and the Norman cavalry sets are also great! Victrix models are very good
@@steeldrac I've got a lot I need to pick up clearly haha
I used, mostly, Vitrix Vikings for a Dunland army (with Dark Age Irish, from possibly Wargames Atlantic as Wildmen - and a few Norman cavalry for mounted units). I've also a few GW minis in the mix as well as odd sprues picked up to help conversions. I think it makes for an interesting looking army
How well do the Victrix scale to the official models. I feel like they'd be a bit taller, but I'm not sure.
Oooh some good shouts - good idea for nailing that Historical vibe that Tolkien often had with the various factions. I like that idea :)
@@AndrewMcColl , they are more heroic scale, but close enough. Also with the limited number of GW sculpts there will be less repetition. Silly question, can I add pics on a UA-cam vid comment?
@@stuarthill5309 not that I'm aware of, and URLs might get hidden too. Try a URL, but with spaces to break it up.
I don't play "War Games" with figurines, but I do build 28mm figures, mostly British Victorian/Imperial Wars because they are fun to paint...but after watching your video I think I'd like to try my hand at painting Norman Infantry and Late Saxons. Great video by the way, well done Sir, well done indeed. I assume it's okay to build and paint these figures just for the fun of it.
It very much is! Totally allowed to just pick up the miniatures and paint them without the need to do any gaming :) Thanks for watching and I hope you have some fun with the miniatures if you get them!
Victrix miniatures are just amazing. I bought the full bags , not the skirmish ones, and really liked them. I also own a lot of Gripping Beast, and they mix very well.
Yeah it seems like they should be great for conversions and kit bashing
I have just got some Anglo Danes, but not yet built any. I have also used the Viking set as a wild men band in my LOTR skirmish games. They are all lovely minis but some of the spears are quite fragile so you need pack them well when taking them to a game and when handling during playing.
For sure - the sword on my one chap was quite fragile. I will keep what you said in mind for the spear-armed chaps!

Very nice video
Thanks, much appreciated :)
I'm curious... How well do ya think the Norman Victrix minis could be kitbashed into planet28 regiments?
I think fairly well. Whilst there are specific bits that can be used with certain bodies, they aren't so prescriptive that you MUST stick to that so you could easily chop and change arms, legs, weapons and heads.
@@BecauseOfDragons Thanks man
How do you think these heads would look on space marines (in terms of scale)?
They might work. I did a quick comparison just eye-balling it right now and they are around the right size but you might need to build up a bit in the neck space of the Space Marine for them to sit well.
That's great to hear, thanks for the help. I think I'll go for the late Roman heavy cavalry kit, I want to try going for abit of a Sutton hoo/Anglo Saxon look and they have plenty of heads I think I can make work in that kit
@@banjohumphrey Ah, that's an awesome idea - very cool!
