You had me at "why you suck"
I don’t need a video to tell me that. That’s what my mom’s drunken voicemails are for.
@@mikeybaucom9387 that's relatable
You had me at “suck”
As someone who likes to do big 3 max days like a competition with the hope I eventually compete, thank you for this because I needed it!
3 day Texas Method? I ran it for a long time and go results but consider switching to 4 day texas method as soon as you start stalling - i found 4 day texas method much better and less stressful
Glad to see that u grew ur hair and beard back
He didn't bro it's just his time traveling doubles
I will suggest people can even test this beforehand. Plan a day you're going to compete with yourself and do it in a way where you feel the pressure and looming challenge.
I bet a lot of people will constantly have a mixture of results every time until they find a solution formula you're leading them to seek.
I've been doing juggernaut ai and had a fake meet. 100% peaked two weeks before the actual comp rested too long and was disappointed I couldn't outlift or even match the lifts from 2 weeks before! So true
Solid tips. Getting that taper right is important
Nice compilation of your competition videos!
Excelent advice! Thank you so much, Alan!
Nice video. Thanks for helping me train untamed. Cooking vid soon? I could watch those all day.
Thank you Alan for your Untamed Spirit🤙❤
Beautiful handwriting, Alan
Overpeaking is the number one mistake I've seen. People seem to get far better results training all the time like it's "offseason" and then adding a couple extra rest days before comp day than people do from super enlongated tapers.
I have a rugby tryout this weekend and this all applies 100%. Thank you!
I gotta say that the second to last point of people expecting meet day to go better than their training days where they only do one event per day hass got to be the biggest reason people fail to meet their expectations on meet day.
I didn't fail at my comp, I just decided to let others who were better than me win..
Most of this applies to musical performance as well - great advice 🤘👽
Taper Week I MISSED 424LBS Squat
I Then Kept All My Workouts At A 6/10 Difficulty, at 2-3 days a week for two weeks then on comp I SMASHED 430LBS On My 3rd Attempt In COMP 💪🏾🔥
I’ve been doing competing at Strongman for 1.5 years, and it’s definitely been a learning curve & intimidating at times
Not easy starting this at 35 but I am enjoying the journey & can’t wait to compete at *Wrath of the Strongest* come May 💪
People warm up too early at PL meets. It always takes longer than you think to get the meet started.
Opposite for me in every meet i’ve been at. They never give us enough time for all athletes to warm up and some are inevitably left warming up during other’s attempts
thx
All those sweaty men, grunting and being ultra manly and dominating events. A dark quiet corner at the back of the gym. Who of us could resist a suck, or even "boarding the D train", on competition day?
You have failed to address why i never seem to have enough depth on competition day...
I suck every day, that's why
For the algorithm
Jokes on you, I always suck
What is it that we're supposed to always remember? To trend on time?
Train Untamed
@FindAWayGymnastics ah that makes way more sense lol. Thank you!
Training certainly trains the physical aspect, yet not enough of the mental
I'm a runner Alan. I don't fuck up on race day. I absolutely smoke the competition.
why I suck on competition day.... well, because I have a broken talus, two totally ruined knees which dont want to bend anymore, ripped bizeps tendon on the right arm and calcified ligaments in both shoulders.... thats why I suck.... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lot, well also on training days, so maybe I missed the point here 🤣🤣🤣
You are missing a large segment of individuals who peak often. Soviet satellite countries and Russia itself and China or Vietnam. Their training methods for Olympics. Peaking weekly.
Take 2 weeks off before a competition. No lifting before. You will be super strong and well rested.
That’s completely opposite of Alan’s advice in this video.
