Although you may still be in shock and disbelief over Captain Andersen's death, it goes without saying that she was a great leader. Andersen will be remembered for her strong moral principles, that were demonstrated right until the very end.
Welcome to the OFFICIAL The Rookie UA-cam channel!
Follow John Nolan, a forty-five-year-old man, who leaves the comfort of his small-town life to pursue his dream of becoming a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department. Enjoy the show's best moments all in one place, as Nolan and his fellow Rookies learn to deal with not only their duties as police officers but also the ones in their personal lives. We're not at the academy anymore...

i legit cried for the first time in the show and couldn't stop
I miss Captain Anderson, I don’t think there will ever be a better Captain.

Love you 😍
Yeah true.
True I miss the Captain too

Sometimes, in cop shows, you need characters like her, characters who exemplify everything a cop should be. No drama, no nonsense; she was simply exceptional. She played off well with Nolan's inherent optimism, serving to him as a standard that he could live by, and work to one day match. Excellent stuff.
Well said.
and that is why it was a stupid decision to kill her
@@xxvxnomdxstroyxr4626no that is why it was an excellent decision to kill her.
What was a stupid decision was to never mention it ever again.
Being torn between the ideals she portrayed, the ideals she indirectly died for and the need to bend rules could have been a really interesting conflict for people like nolan or bradford
If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus Is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. -Romans 10:9
She really was great. She had motherly care and comprehension for others while being strong and honest. At least she went out with a bang but... She was a great character for the show. Perhaps they can have "flashbacks" with her at least.
yh i think she left cuz she was struggling with pregnancy and now 5 years later i dont know why she wouldnt be able to come back
so sad as it changed the narrative and dircetion of the series into a comedy which is boring and makes me annoyed why they got rid of her
Still can't believe they killed her off! In many ways, she was the one training Nolan and the other rookies; her conduct and approach to the job were like gold to her "kids." And I can definitely understand why she requested Nolan be assigned to her squad; I think she understood him, and what he was trying to do with his life, better than almost anyone else there. No wonder he misses her so much. They were building quite a bond up until her death... and I think, if they hadn't killed her off - she would have been his "rabbi," the senior officer on the force that guides the careers of people coming up. She probably would have ended up as chief herself one day; and by that time, Nolan would be one of HER senior officers!
I heard she didn't want to be a part of season 2. But, yeah, she was really great with her approach to people. I still miss seeing her.
@@melissakern4996 Me, too. Frankly, I think they made a mistake when the show first started; they should have focused a little less on Sgt. Grey, and a little more on Captain Anderson's character. She probably thought her character wasn't getting enough screen time - and, given her obvious talent and connection with Nathan Fillion's character, I think she was right. So, if she decided to leave because they wouldn't give her more face time - I get that. Richard T. Jones, the guy who plays Sgt. Grey, has been in a lot of shows; they could have cut his screen time back a little, and balanced it out with Anderson's. Seems like a mistake by the producers and director.
@SeatBill I could not stand Grey when the show first started but he has grown into one of my favorites in the show.
But really they didn't have the time to fit the Sgt. and the captain in it. But she flowed well with the cast, she was more approachable, more like someone that had their back no matter what. Nolan and her had great chemistry, I would've loved to have watched what they could have done with that. I know he's meant to be older and whatnot but I liked the fact that he had someone closer to his age to connect with he doesn't have anyone (besides Nick, and he isn't a regular) he can just talk too.
@@melissakern4996 I like Sgt. Grey, too; you want someone exactly like him - a hardass sergeant - running rookies and the squad. He's there to teach them how to survive on the job; not be anyone's buddy. But I think the writers could have presented he and the Captain more as a "dual" teaching/mentoring deal; for instance, I think they could have had her do more ride-alongs with the rookies at the beginning, like they did with she and Nolan at the end... before she was killed. No better way to evaluate rookies than to be out in the field with them; Nolan certainly benefited from having her ride with him!
I think Anderson's military background helped her connect with Nolan; she understood, seeing people (troops) in situations totally unfamiliar to them, like Nolan is in - learn to deal with it; and, I think she really admired him for changing his life so much after his divorce. She was right when she told him that THAT was the hardest thing anyone could do - and that's how he KNEW she understood him... and came to rely on her as a result. Having also been through a divorce herself, she knew what Nolan was doing as a rookie was HARD; harder in a lot of ways than what the other rookies were dealing with... and I think they bonded over that. People connect for lots of different reasons; most of the time, it's based on shared life experience - if someone's been through the same things you have, that can help form a deep bond with that person.
Anderson and Nolan shared that life experience... in a way Grey and Nolan COULDN'T. If Grey had been through a tough divorce himself... I think he would understand Nolan better. He still wouldn't cut him any more slack; but he'd UNDERSTAND him better.
Yeah, Sgt. Grey is tough and no nonsense. But they lightened him up a bit, it's hard to report to him when you fear him and I get his intolerance, fear for how Nolan might be out on call. Like in the pilot it seemed like he wanted to sabotage him, beat him down in a sense but he saw he quickly got up every single time.
He is of course still his Sgt. but he respects him now. And at most he just rolls his eyes at Nolan's ridiculous talk now.
Agreed, Anderson had some rough times but she turned it into a positive and so did Nolan. Not that we saw a lot of her but she handled things with care, consideration and a great deal of empathy. I think that's how Nolan does it as well, like when he told Jessica, he needs to feel everything.
I believe Anderson mentioned that she was in abusive relationship as well. She had a great backstory it's a shame that we'll never see it play out.
Mercedes Mason did such an amazing job. I miss her even handed leadership.
yh such a good actor but she hasnt done much since the rookie
i miss her on the show
Her and Nolan training officer in season 1
yeah nrg ronaldo i miss her to
I miss the captain 😭😭
she was the best
@Brainest shhhhhhh
Respect Captain like you, eh Rex?
@@jamesholland9736 respectful Captain like you, eh Rex?
SnakeArrowDawg h same
I miss her so much, she was and still is the best character on the show. And I think there was the suggestion of something between her and Lucy, possibly. It’s a shame we never got to see that. Still.. nothing but respect for my Captain! I love her.
yh anderson was impressed with her, we needed that, stupid decision to get rid of her
I wish you included the scene where she busts Bishop and Bradford for having Lucy get their gear instead of getting it themselves.
Nolan spends a fair amount of time thanking people (especially her, it seems) and being polite in general.
I think there's something to be taken from that.
Captain Anderson was definitely an outstanding character. She’s was definitely the unofficial mentor to the Rookies…especially Nolan. I can definitely see why she had a lot of faith in him…which hurts even more to know that she’s gone. If she could’ve seen Nolan now, she would definitely be proud of him. Mercedes Manson did an amazing job playing her and she definitely left a big impact. RIP Captain Zoe Anderson, you may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten. Thank you.
Oh my gosh nooooooo the time I saw her getting shot I was crying for over an hour non-stop she was the best captain ever (included castle's Montgomery and gates) #captainandersenrip😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yh ikr so supportive
She we always be loved
Wish she stayed all the way through even though this is 3 yrs later
Rest in peace captain Anderson
Her death hit me HARD. I have no idea why but i had trouble watching afterwards for about 2 weeks.
Yh same so far for the past few days for me, just imagining her in every single scene and it’s making me rlly sad and depressed, tryna forget it but I can’t, might take a break from it
Made me sad like imagine if she was just there and stuff which makes the person emotional

yeah ikr, it was shocking how nolan just saw his good friend die in front of her while she was coughing up blood
I love this show so much i have never clicked on something so fast before

Realy huh stfu!
Yh so sad what happened to her
I still miss Captain Anderson...it was such a loss to the show. She truly was the guiding leader in that precinct. We see Sgt. Grey calling the shots but the show doesn't show the Captain or presence of one in the current season. Does anybody find that weird? Anyway her performance brings tears in my eyes. Thank you so much Mercedes Mason for bringing Captain Anderson to the Rookie!
no they have a new captain but they are not as interactive and good as anderson was, she was a massive loss to the whole force
The captain was such a cool character. A very well written character with a unique depth and strength. Will miss her.
needed more of her tbh, bad decision to get rid of her, she had a potential storyline unlike grey
@@xxvxnomdxstroyxr4626 grey has potential too, but she should have stayed for way more seasons to come
5:36 Captain Anderson picking up that laptop by the corner worries me about how many laptops go to waste after possibly dropping it in several takes
I cried when she died ....
RIP Captain Andersen you are missed
For everyone asking why they killed off Andersen....Alexi Hawley said that he didn't always intend to kill off Andersen...he tweeted "it definitely has an impact on how Nolan sees and does the job, if anything he feels a greater responsibility to succeed to honor her memory and the faith she placed in him".
I didn't know that and makes me super disappointed though not surprised.
what I get from this is that we lost an amazing female character, a woman in power and with a story yet to be told, for a male protagonist story. SHE had to die so that HE could be great. I'm really disappointed.
@@tobekind716 Talia, Lopez, even Harper or Chen could have been killed earlier for Nolan to develop better but it would not be as impactful as an amazing character as Captain Andersen and her send-off was way better than SPOILERS Jackson
@@tobekind716yh ikr, of all characters not her, its all rubbish, it barely impacted the show
@@madara992or bishop or grey are best options for me
@@tobekind716I do think that this message is ironic given the fact the actress was the one who decide to leave, not the writers or producers.
Imagen Nolan and Anderson being together 🤯
She's a little dead for that
Was very possible if she didn’t die, maybe was the long term plan who knows
THE BEST SHOW EVER!
She's on the list of great captains along with Captain Holt of Brooklyn 99.
Best show of the year, for me anyway..
Did anyone think the captain and Nolan could've gotten together?

I know right, they would’ve made the perfect couple
I thought they would hook up so many times and no they killed her off in episode 16
That was my first ship on this show. I'm so sad she died. :(
She didn’t deserve to die but at least she died protecting and serving and doing the job she loved the most. R.I.P captain Anderson
Yh
Saddest death
she is like the only grown-up other than Nolan in this show
And grey but it’s just so sad that those two connected so well and he saw her die in front of him so viciously
Her death was one of the big wtf for me, like, it came out of nowhere for me, i was so sad when it happen

Great video
I cried so hard when she died. It broke my fucking heart.
Yh I’m depressed
she truly was the best captain
Was there a reason why they killed her from the show, like another acting job or something health related.. shes very good actress in my opinion.
I heard she didn't want to be part of the 2nd season. They never said why but she was great, so much potential we'll never get to see.
@@melissakern4996 I heard she said she was racially discriminated against by the hair crew on set. But don’t quote me in that.

"Dismissed" really was her main line

Nathan Fillion Is so good at any show he does . I was upset when him and Lucy Broke up. I however felt he had most chemistry with the first Black Girl Partner wise and Romantic Chemistry with The Captain

Mercedes played a great part as a Captain,
In the show Zoe was such a great friend to Nolan and I’m sad that she was out of the show. Her character in the show can inspire people even though she is just acting. If she was still in the show Nolan could’ve been a better man than he is now.

I bet there’s a new captain before the end of the season, that’s why they keep bringing her up
Yh but he’s useless
you can tell she wasnt replacable literally showed a new captain in one episode and then he wasnt in the show, now they reference that there is a captain in a few episodes but he or she is never shown and now grey acts as the captain but isnt named as the captain just the watch commander which he already was, which is why i dont think she was ment to be killed and instead wanted to leave the show for some reason
