Thank you so much...after years of playing classical guitar, at last I begin to understand the difference, and why flamenco seems so much more passionate and alive!
Let me tell you that all this idea of having to be a child or a teenager to learn guitar its all a myth…the best moment in my opinion to learn properly is definitively in adulthood. I have taught around 600 different students in the past 7 years and my experience is that people of your age learn much better than the younger ones. When the sincere desire to become THE BEST VERSION Of YOU is really there, other so called “limitations” or “disadvantages” disappear completely and once for all.
You're a beast Diaz, Wow! you're very good, the best one yet I seen. Thank you for sharing your talent and your knowledge with everyone. God bless you brother.
Excellent teaching vid! Like most guitarists I have toyed with Flamenco over the years without really going into the technique... until now. I really had no idea how much was involved. This art form exploits the potential of the guitar like no other and I begin to wish I had taken it seriously as a kid so that I would not now be trying to teach old fingers such intricate finger patterns. It is so difficult to play convincing rasgueos.
This video is exactly what Ihave been looking for. Ever since I have seen it have been trying to immulate the techniques. However, my right hand pinky and ring finer seem to be slower than my index and middle. Are their any particular excercises that will strengthen these two fingers, on or off the guitar? I will keep practicing these techniques to get better if not. Thank you for your video!
Yes, I understand. Unfortunately I do not have any guidance. There's a 2 year waitinglist for guitar teachers in my city, and private teachers are way too expensive :S So, I'm really glad with videos like this one. Thank you :)
very good video as usual, thanks I get pain in my index finger from rasguado, I think because I curl it in too tight, or need to warm up more. Will start some strengthening I think..
Thank you for your kind inspirational comments. It is rare these days to hear such positive, life-affirming words. I have acquired a nice moderately priced guitar - Jose Miguel Arroyo - which is opening beautifully as it gets played in. I use Pro Arte EJ45's and wondered what strings you prefer - never forgetting that all guitars respond in their own unique way.
Mother of god! Incredible power and speed!:D I must learn this! By the way I can do this type of rasgueo, and the other one which adds "I" finger just at lower BPM at about 170, not as powerful as yours and I think sometimes I don't pick all of the strings, due to the speed up. My brain can't comprehend the motion at high speed:D Unfortunately I don't have webcam, but I will try to get one. Great videos!

(answer 6) sometimes provided you will use the capo say at 4th fret for the recording of that particular track. You see there is a lot of fancy stuff on this strings thing…that I learned personally from Paco, and from my own experience, after being the best ever client to each and every brand of strings for 30 years so far.
(answer 4) Hence if for example that particular guitar is by nature a high tension one, and the player has not much strength or prefers a softer touch, then for a given guitar it may be a good idea to have on it some strings in low tension depending on the season and on humidity factors of the environment as well.
(answer 7) Those different tensions, brands and materials *(Nylgut, Titanium, Carbon, Nylon, Silk, pure Silver etc) are there for different guitars and different needs and times of the year…they exist to compensate or create diverse sound or touch (pulsation) possibilities, some times the seasons also affects the guitars touch… (for example in some male guitars I use high tension in summer and mid tension in winter. To be continued…
Any combination of latin progression Am, G, F, E, you can go to the extent to use them as bar chords which will give you better sound especially for rumba style
amazing technique my friend! thank you for this video, i've been having fun exploring the challenging world of flamenco techniques the past year, its creates such an intense and thrilling sound that no other style can portray! your instruction is going to help me diversify, (since my home instrument is the electric guitar) .. what are those epic chords you do at 2:20 when demonstrating the 5 note pattern? again, thank you.
Hi! I have problems with my little and ringfinger's independence. I can hardly fire them separately and they also have weak sound. Furthermore after I picked with my index finger, I can't start the period with my littlefinger again at higher BPM, I have to take one picking time break. By the way it's more comfortable for me if my thumb doesn't lean on the low E string. (first rasgueado)
Thanks! I think the third chord is an A = X02220? How do you get these flamenco chord voicings and progressions? Every site I look at has normal chord voicings and boring sounding progressions. Thanks again for your help!

Gracias.

Good question.
For rasgueos 1, 2 and 3 you can flick the fingers (from the ring finger -except the pinky one- from your palm to get more strength)

Thank you so much for revealing these techniques Ruben, as a beginner, would you recommend practicing just as your done say 30-60 mins per day? or?
Rasgeos 1,2 ,3 and 4 are with thum resting on 6th string.

Great video! Thanks for the tip. I made a strange observation, though. You sound like a Spanish Christopher Walken.
you do it so gud,..!!! am practicing from abt 1 month..but not till 10 percent of urs..!!

Tienes que pegar el pulgar de la tapa de la guitarra necesariamente? Mis dedos no son muy largos y como que me quedan corto si pego el pulgar.
is there any exercises or practice techniques you do to make all your rasgueados even or do they just come to you with repetition?
@rdiazflamencojazz thank you!!!! you're the best! keep up the videos man! We appreciate your effort!!! =D
Do we have to hit the 6Estring coming down or we just strum the 5th string all tge way down to the lowest E?
Wow! Thank you very much!
I have a question, If I am to play an open E with this technique, then will the thumb rest on the 6th string or the guitar top?
Hey Diaz, how do you get your right hand fingers to loosen up so much? I've been practicing these rasgueados exercises for a few days but my ring finger hurts like freaking hell whenever I do it now, and my pinky is just weird...

Every guitar differs in tension and even from basses to trebles in the very same guitar this differences may be there.
It also depends on the player.

u got some talent thats a fact
