I’m Insured through Kaiser. They no longer dispense here in SoCal….contracting to Hear USA. Being a new aid wearer, I’ve found the entire hearing aid industry very volatile and deceptive at best. Glad to have Cliff and his team exposing those terrible companies and now helping new comers like me

It may only be a matter of time before someone closes the loop and integrates an in ear microphone for "real ear measurement" into the aid so the matching to audio gram or prescriptive target can be fully automated. You heard it here first. I agree with your passion to provide care, but if cost precludes access, it's still a fail. I see autotune aids as a real possibility barring govt or industry interference.

Regular American and overseas countries people can't be a good Professional Audiologist AuD doctors hearing Aides Dealership and testing their own ears by themselves as a customer who has different types of hearing loss as well as Doctors and nurses makes bad patients themselves while being treated like a patient in the medical field hospitals and wherever. It's already been done and lasted about a year maybe? Not sure why it was stopped.

@@dr.ericaau.d.2197 probably needs more development. It certainly seems technically feasible with the DSP already in hearing aids.
I know it could be modeled with current processors. It might even be a marketing problem with dispensers fearing diminished returns. And then there's the FDA hurdle. Look what foot dragging occurred for OTC. It actually should be easier than working with the analog capabilities of cellphones.

Plenty of hearing aid wearers do not like their hearing aids set “to target”. In fact most new wearers need a lower initial setting and lots of follow up while increasing the hearing aid’s output.

Walmart and others like them are typically low touch customer service. Hearing aids is a high touch business. Call backs are frequent and the norm as hearing changes. It's not a sell item, keep item/return item model.

@marinette4060 what does shoplifting have to do with the hearing aid industry and Walmart's inability to deliver quality care along with the products they are marketing??

Only way to do that would be to go to a membership model like Costco. Not going to happen.

What needs to happen is that with every year you age, your hearing needs to improve over the previous year. :D

I think a important reason companies are abandoning hearing air manufacturing is it won't be too much longer and several companies will be coming out with hearing restoration treatments thus making the hearing aid a relic.

"hearing restoration treatments"? Sure, if they can "treat" my Tinnitus and it works, they'll win the Nobel Prize!

Us people with poor hearing could REALLY save money if Congress would pass a law requiring all Americans to YELL every time they talk.
