That's competitive with today's 2.0 engines.... Problem is, that horsepower isn't very useable in everyday driving. These have no torque down low and you have to wind it up to 8K RPM to access that power. It is a fun little mill if you get the chance to see those revs.

@@honkhonkler7732 nice thing about these 90s hondas/acuras though is that the gearing is quite short and shifting is smooth so you can get to those revs fairly easily, as well as the cars being very light

Only downside is the 218,000 miles it has. New shocks or struts can fix that and it would ride like new. The engine also doesn't smoke or knock. Although I did replace rod bearings just in case and Ive had the car up to 123mph and it had more to go. I wouldn't want a new car anyway no payments 😏

I owned the same '92 GSR in this MW test - Aztec Pearl Green! What a trip down memory lane. One of the best cars I ever owned before someone rammed me from behind and totaled it. Had 130,000 miles on it and still ran like a Swiss watch. The interior still looked factory new. I drove a time capsule. Absolutely 1000% bulletproof in every way. A really fun car that was entirely practical too. The automatic mice belts never bothered me a bit. The only downside was highway cruising which meant 4000rpms at 70mph. That was no biggie for the engine since it revved to 8000rpm, but it "sounded" like you needed another gear and was sort of loud and annoying. When the VTEC kicked in about 5000rpms it was a fun car to rev high. Absolutely no torque until then. I guess the only other downside was some torque steer. But overall it was a fantastic car. When it got totaled I ended up ordering a 2002 WRX. I never warmed up to the 2nd generation GSR/RSXs.

I haven't owned a GS-R yet, but I've had five second gens in over 10 years. I have almost driven them exclusively during that time, save a few months. For me it was love at first test drive and I've loved them ever since. They age very well and are built to last, like Hondas of the time. I've never had one blow up on me, I always lost mine to wrecks. Easy to work on, easy on the eyes, very functional, cable clutch is a plus too. My one complaint is the stupid automatic seatbelts.
I can't explain it but there is just something about the 90-93 Integra. For 10 1/2 years now I've been in love with the view of the road over that dashboard, my butt in that seat, my hands gripping that steering wheel and shift knob. I don't feel right without one! Hope to own an Aztec Green GS-R eventually.

I had the pleasure of owning two GS-R models in the iconic Aztec Green Pearl as featured in the video. They were a joy to drive. The engine had a unique sound which made it that much better. It didn't have the high pitch of a B16 yet it wasn't as deep sounding as the B18C1 from the next generation GS-R. I did some rolling pulls versus the next generation GS-R and it held it's own for being 18 horsepower & 11 lb-ft less than the B18C1. It didn't pull away from my car hard at all. I kept right there with the new GS-R.

Other magazines tested these generation GSR's to as low as 15.2 1/4mi's with 0-60 times in the mid 6 second range. For 1992 that was incredibly quick for a car in this class.

I got a 90' Integra GS coupe with 195xxx miles, in B-50m (Melbourne blue metallic) paint, and its been great as my first experience with JDM. Its got a cool, kinda silver looking paint with the blue interior. The car just drive on rails, your so low you really feel one with the car. I know its non-vtec, being the b18a1, but it drives, corners, and shifts so nice you don't even care its got 130hp. Would be cool to find a 92' with the b17. People are dying for fresh blood back in those 2 companies! I'd love to see a new Integra come out starting around 18k and on up to the high 20ks for a fully loaded GSR or Type R variant. I dated a gal who's sister had 1 in white. Her dad bought it new and tried to give it to my then g/f, but she didn't like driving a stick. She bought a 98 Corolla instead. So the Acura sat until her younger sister was old enough to drive. By then it was 2009, and the car needed tires, fluid changes and brakes from sitting. It only had 45k on it. After all that was sorted, she drove the car ( like a granny I might add) until 2015, w 77k on it. She sold it for a new TSX, and got $7k from a private sale. I got to drive it just once and it was clear to me that this was 1 fun car! The only real issue was the driver's side motorized seat belt, which would stick about half way up the door, then return towards the 'door open' position. Very annoying.

I wish Acura would go back to its good old days and release some exciting, affordable near-luxury sports cars again. The Integra and then the RSX Type-S were such fun to drive hard for what they were. Now we are given 💩 like the ILX or the TLX that never seemed to be a worthy replacement for either the TSX or TL.

This was my fist car, same Aztec Pearl color too. I bought it from my brother in 2000 for $2000.. In 2 years I got 12 points on my license from it:D. This car turned me into a car guy. It was surprisingly quick for what it was- the times they are posting on MW seem low. I gave a few stock Fox 5.0's a run for their money with this car. My friend had an 88 IROC and he could out 0-60 me but on the highway this GSR would pull his IROC. The clutch on this car was cable actuated like a motorcycle so you could shift really fast and hard, it was so much fun. Almost 20 years later Ive owned a lot of manual transmission cars and I finally have a car that shifts better than this GSR did and it's a Porsche. If I could find another one of these for sale I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I still have the spare key and keyfob to it.

They are just well built cars. Honda was never my thing though . Iam partial to DSM, not JDM. However, I got a 90' Integra GS coupe in B-50m (Melbourne blue metallic) paint, and its been great as my first experience with JDM. Its got a cool, kinda silver looking paint with the blue interior. The car just drive on rails, your so low you really feel one with the car. I know its non-vtec, being the b18a1, but it drives so nice you don't even care its got 130hp. Would be cool to find a 92' with the b17. Those 94-01's were faster but the DA9 is a little "sexier" looking imo. Great cars

Great job with the Retro Reviews overall and especially this one (and the TL Type-S as I own an 03). I owned 4 Integras and all of them were good! The 90 LS was my first new car and I still wish I never sold it. The car could go for miles on the highway tracking like a train, rev like crazy and still get you 30 mpg. Nothing ever broke, faded or rattled. With the hatchback, it was also like owning a small station wagon! Back in those days, you could go a week on gas and fill up for 10 bucks! There were faster cars but I always caught up with those in the curves! I wish some old wise man would have told me to keep this car forever. The last of it's kind is the Civic Si. Better get one while you can.

I test drove a '91 Integra coupe (non GSR) and was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the build, fit and finish, ride, etc. Sadly for me I was totally in love with the new Saturn SC. It was a much sportier looking car than the Integra and the dealer experience was incredible. I drove it for 9 years with very few problems but always kicked myself for bypassing the Integra. At that time it was pretty much a wash in price comparison. Oh well.

Owned this exact car and color in High School in the late 90s, almost lost my license with it a few times. I never ran the 1/4 mile with it but I gave friends with early 90s iroc and 5.0's trouble on highway runs. The acceleration times seem low to me, I believe this car was a low 15sec car maybe high 14 or maybe mine was a freak. Spun an engine bearing at 190k, the motor was never the same after I had it rebuilt so I sold it. I've owned about a dozen high performance manual cars since then and I now finally own a car that has a better shifter than my old gsr did.. a 2014 Porsche Cayman S. This generation gsr had a cable clutch like a motorcycle so you could bang gears at 8000 rpm each and every time. My old 2012 coyote 5.0 shifted like garbage compared to my old gsr. I'm looking for another one but damn hard to find in 2018..
