Hi everyone today I thought I would start putting a good grit top dressing on my cacti and succulents getting them ready for returning to the greenhouse over the next few weeks .The sun is shining and some of the plants get their first water of the year now sprig is here. I can't wait for a few weeks time when they can all stay out in the greenhouse. We are still getting the occasional frost so they are all in for the night lol 🌵🌵😊

That grit makes it look so neat. I am going to grow some coleus plants amongst my cacti because mealy bug is supposed to love coleus. I’m thinking maybe they’d all be attracted to the coleus and leave my cacti alone! We shall see. I’m getting ready to set my cacti out in the polytunnel over the next week. Thanks for sharing!

Plants look so much better with top dressing, I just got some black lava rock for top dressing and it looks great. Hope you manage to get rid of those mealybugs, I absolutely hate those beasties 😡

the cacti stand out more with grit on the top they look lovely, i use chicken grit, what do you spray your mealy bugs with?
Thank you it makes such a difference. I use surgical spirit and I usually add a bit off soap and water. 🌵🌵😊
oh wow. I used to top my succulents with grit too but I was worried that moisture will be trapped in the soil. You think that's okay? Love your collection. They are so pretty
Thank you :) It's funny you say that as that's why I never put grit on before as was worried of the same thing. I have got to the point though that I didn't want to keep seeing all the perlite sat on the top of my soil lol. Also I see most other cacti and succulent collectors top dress their plants so thought I would give it a go :) Thank you for watching :)
