DISABILITY EXPO VLOG! UK'S FIRST PERSON-FOCUSSED EVENT FOR DISABLED PEOPLE, EXCEL LONDON 2023

Come along to the first-ever year of Disability Expo at ExCel London! I was very happy to be invited as a disabled speaker to take part in the Digital Accessibility panel, and attended the event for a couple of hours on each of the two days. I spent most of the time catching up with friends but in this video you'll see a glimpse of the exhibitors, panels, and entertainment that was on offer, and lots of chats about the experience from my perspective as somebody with an Energy Limiting Condition. Hello! My name is Pippa Stacey and I’m a disabled writer, presenter, and communications consultant based in York. I enjoy theatre, books, and fundraising, and can most often be found wearing some form of pyjamas and drinking all the tea.
I acquired my chronic illness as a young adult and struggle daily with the challenges of living my best life alongside managing a debilitating health condition. However, I’ve finally learned that I don’t have to ‘overcome’ or ‘defy’ my illness in order to be successful, and there’s truly nobody’s path to follow but your own.

Thank you for making this. Sadly, I only got to know about it a couple of days before and therefore couldn't make it. A real shame as it would have been good to meet you again. It certainly does look different to NAIDEX, but then again, I used to got to various shows in the automotive industry (which I used to work in) and they were each different. Hi Pipi thank you so much for showing me this video, i understand how you feel. I see me in you when i was about your age. I am 71 now with a lot of pain, my husband tells me I am pretending to have pain because people can’t see me inside. My legs are now starting to hurt a lot. I bought myself a walker and it is much better. I have arthritis all over my body. But I think soon I will need a wheelchair. Im from South Africa,we don’t have the lovely wheelchairs that you have so I love the way you express your inner feelings about what other people think in the first video I saw of you. Sweetie keep up the good work. And thanks for this wonderful video.

I was honestly so bummed I couldn't make it this year and I have my fingers crossed that I'll be able to make it. It looked amazing! I would have absolutely loved to have gone.

@@LifeOfPippa your welcome. stupid me didn't realise where you were going and I went to the same event you went to, I dragged my wife with me, she really enjoyed it too. hopefully the event will grow and get better each year once they work out what works and what doesnt, I also want for work.
