- Why is the 1909 T206 Honus Wagner baseball card worth millions of dollars? Why is it one of the most valuable sports cards of all time? Our Founder, Ken Goldin, explains the iconic history behind the card, and why the wealthiest collectors have long desired to own one for themselves.
On 5/21/2021, we sold this exact card for a record $3,660,000.

this was an excellent video! I learned a lot. I can’t even imagine being in the same room as that card, yet alone owning one! truly the best sports card of ALL time!
LMAOOOOO. "Being in the same room." Get a grip! It's awesome to hear the history, but get a grip
I have it all five of them... literally!!
Update: As of August 2021 it's now worth $6.06 million
If the dollar wasn't being debauched by the central bankers that card would be valued at $194,000.
Lol nice
@@ThekiBoranhuh? Say what?
Just came to know about Goldin two days ago thru Netflix. Watched all the episodes without break. I am a small Funko grail collector and I became a huge fan of Ken with each and every member in Goldin. I wish I could work there. Please bring out more season.
thanks for making this video! i was just wondering why this card is so expensive, loved to hear the history.
Honus Wagner didn't smoke or drink and felt that his image should not be used to promote smoking products as they could entice younger fans to take up smoking. As a result very few of his cards were produced. Hence the value as they are extremely rare.
Action comics 1 and detective comics 27 are also great examples of hard asset collectibles that will never go down in value. Great card.
Thank you so much for making this, you are so underrated
The card sold at auction for $7.25 million last year.
Just sold for $6.6mil!!
Just visited the Honus Wagner museum in Carnegie PA! It's full of amazing memorabilia. If you can, visit it!

Ken, you can take comfort in your auction house is due to have Pop Culture's finest ever Pop-Art collage on a canvas.

Update $7.25 million..
This is awesome! Just hearing about the strip!
Your passion for this topic is great. I don’t think it’s just about the $ for you.
The print run on this card was insanely low. (Maybe 100-125 total cards) Whichever of the three stories about the reason the card was pulled, it was a single printing with only a few backs. I don't think we will ever see more than 5 new discoveries surface in the next 200 years. It's just that rare. It is history plain and simple. The monatery value is a bonus.
Could you imagine people who got this card when it came out and just totally neglected it and some probably ripped it or just threw it away!!
@@angelnieto316 most likely didn't even look in the liner! Just smoked those Sweet Coporal cigarettes and tossed the wrapper
Only Wagner saw through the malicious greed of the tobacco companies trying to get children into smoking early. Or perhaps he was the only one who cared enough to actually take a stand.
I have one of these honus Wagner card not sure if it's real is the back pink with description of what happened with the card and Wagner or is this a copy looks just like picture you've shown description on rear my card 🤔
I have one !!!!
On MLB the show 21... but i have one 🤣
I know he regrets selling the uncut 5 card strip once owned by Wagner himself.
background music?
Hold a JS Bach manuscript
I have one of these. How do I tell if it is real?
I have one but the back is dif. Says 1910
The babe ruth Baltimore 1914 red and blue rookie card is a lot rarer than the honus Wagner , what really made this card so expensive is the fact that it's very famous.
Everyone’s dream is finding a Wagner card in their grandparents basement or attic
My profile pic looks like that card
I have this card
my brother have one. how can I get in contact with you.
His is a reprint, I guarantee it.
@@ObsessedCollectorthat’s 💯 only 50 or less so I doubt he’s got a real one.
Definitely a reprint buddy you are more likely to win the lottery than finding a Wagner in any condition
Honn - uss -- like Johannes
That's a lot of money for something that has zero nutritional value.
KOLLEKT THE Price Smells Illegal the Golden????thats okey look for the OTHER Side Militär-
Guy sold the strip and didn't tell us what he sold it for? That's a thumbs down from me right here.
He sold it for 150k
@@ygworld3630 in his dreams.
Means he sold it for less than he wanted
How can you tell these are fake or real any difference.
Slabbed are genuine and authentic
You have to take it down to Pawn Stars and have Chumlee take a look at it lol
I have one Wagner card.
*reprint
Still not worth that amount of money..what kinda people pay that amount of money and what jobs do they have to afford it?
Old fat rich Jews so that they can brag about it over the dinner table.
Its now 150 million worth
A PSA 10 one but correct me if I'm wrong the highest condition is PSA 8
Nop the value 6 millions
@@filipfilip1507 the 8 was the 1st ever card graded by PSA, but it has been since rules to have been trimmed prior to submission. It's still worth about 25-30 million. But it's owned by the Arizona Diamondbacks ball club owner
@@ObsessedCollector i forgot I even commented that or that I even watched this video but thanks
This crook is holding it.
Honus Wagner in my opinion is the greastest shortstop

Boy you're a piece of work showing your face after all these years. You cheated a lot of people out of their redemptions of Scoreboard products. You made a lot of money through the Shop at Home sports card television show. So why is it that you wouldn't honor all those redemptions?
I'm primarily a 🪙 collector and I enjoyed this video. 🙂
