This is tough, a guy that dominated in the SEC vs a guy who was mediocre in the ACC. A very different choice.
The more and more he kept talking, the more 🐂💩 flowed from his mouth.
That’s my exact feel on it. Drake didn’t cook the ACC, while Jayden fried the SEC.
They always find a no name white QB and try to make him a first round pick then it always fail, I never heard of Drake Maye till mock drafts

It's weird to hear people talk about something that everyone witnessed yet be in complete denial about what they saw. Maye did not look good this year while Daniels dominated by passing and running in the SEC.
Every game- mate has a more elite arm and has to try to throw guys open. Still had great stats.

@@bgorg1he had decent stats I would call great. It’s hard sell to say a guy in the SEC with 40TDs and 4 int is tier below a guy who had 24TDs 9int in weaker conference. Maye struggled all year no didn’t have help. The tape is not exactly in Maye favor.
Arm strength is overrated especially if you’re not that accurate. Seems like most like just because the basics he 6”4 225, and arm.
Daniels is a game changer.. the commanders will be crazy to pass him up

Daniels was a slightly above average QB for 4 years until he was put behind a juggernaut of an offense. He's the biggest boom or bust QB in this draft class.

Here comes the extra points added for lighter complexion QBs that seem to come whenever all the actual football is done being played on the field. Same thing with Mac Jones, Zach Wilson, Mitch Trubisky, Blake Bortles, Josh Rosen, etc etc. If I’m drafting a QB top 10 I don’twant to hear excuses about why he couldn’t to this or that, either you did or didn’t. The NFL doesn’t get easier. Maye couldn’t even dominate a bad ACC. What does he do better than all other QBs in the draft? They are going to try to talk up his size, and “brains” just like they do all they others ones that don’t have a trait that differentiates him from the competition. Same with JJ McCarthy. But somehow Penix is being downgraded for past injuries like he’s coming off a fresh acl tear smh.
Same can be said for darker complexation QB's. Dwanye Haskins, Justin Fields, Trey Lance, Cardale Jones, etc etc

First off coaching will determine a lot when it comes to a players development. Do you think if Lamar went to the panthers instead of the ravens that he would be the Lamar we know today? Do you think if Purdy went to the commanders a few years ago he’s having the same success he’s having now? Not too many players are talented enough to overcome bad coaching.

Flaws, I see on both. JD: misses wide open receivers on reads. Needs recalibration in read process.
The devastating hits he takes will not hold longevity at pro level.
DM: Leaks left or right pending where he plans to go with ball. Breaks clean pockets unnecessarily. Becomes inaccurate randomly in every game. Hasn't played a large number of what would be deemed good teams. Relying on strength and size works at the college level, but does not usually translate at next level.
As a Commanders fan, I think either can be drafted to where we grow either into a next level QB. JD seems more capable of starting day 1 with a better chance of success! Where as DM would, in my belief, be better under a Jordan Love approach.
Exactly he needs to sit that is a hard sell to fans for a #2 overall pick.

5:55 so you take the guy who can go 70 in one play. Not the guy who has to learn how to play consistently. Maye is trash. Only in the discussion bcuz of size and arm strength. Same thing happened last season with Levis. Maye is closer to McCarthy than Daniels. Daniels played like a 1st overall pick. Maye did not. That’s why Daniels is in the discussion bcuz he handled his business. If Maye was so good he would’ve handled his business and held any other QB coming up off.

Numbers don’t lie people do. Daniels actually progressed in his 5 seasons in college although two seasons were interrupted by the pandemic and a scandalous school investigation. Maye on the other hand only played two seasons and in 2022 had a decent season but regressed in 2023. Who is the real Drake Maye ? Off course Maye has more upside than JD because he’s not as good as Daniels. Maye has farther to go. Maye is a potential turnover machine.

Unless you talking about the real detailed stats that are in Drakes favor like sack % and him throwing over the middle. The stats against Jayden this year are not even close. 24TDs 9 int in a worse conference doesn’t help. 40TDs 4 int and over 1k rushing with 10 on the ground is crazy. All in the SEC which is basically NFLjr.
With eye test its his and arm strength because he is not as accurate. Maye footwork and mechanics aren’t great either. If we just judging by tape from this year it’s even close. We talking about the guy who won the Heisman. Based on stats he second best in his own conference.
So act like this not close is crazy. To me it’s 50/50. What benefits Maye is he is better prospect long term but he most likely needs to sit. With Jayden he should be fine week one, that’s because his floor is higher for sure. Maye is the opposite high ceiling low floor.

The issue is many feel he needs to sit potentially a year. That not an exciting prospect for next as a fan if that’s the case. That’s why I think it’s 50/50. Jayden floor is much higher and ceiling is pretty good. With Maye he can be great but his floor is low, and scares me the most. I say out of everyone he has the most bust potential, because his lack of experience and inconsistency.
Also with fans we just had Sam and he came from NC and a lot people just see Sam. That reason is dumb I know. They also see who he played and say how can struggle against subpar teams.
Jayden pops off the screen so the casual fan watching his highlights can easily see him being good.

We are trying to draft a franchise QB with the second overall pick… we don’t draft for floor, we draft for ceiling. Frankly, the floor with Daniels is a double edged sword, because he will almost certainly deal with injury as a result of all the running.
