as a person who started contemporary dance almost one month ago, it’s not that easy. at first, you will get frustrated. But at the end of the day, there’s no right or wrongs in contemporary dancing, because it’s all emotions and connection with your feelings
Ik you commented this a year ago but when you started it were you older? Ik most start when their younger so it’s easier for them to get it but honestly my mom would have never let me😭
honestly I feel that contemporary dance opens a whole new world of exploring yourself and your emotions . also contemporary dance totally differs from other style of dances and it really allows me to express what I feel through this procedure and as well as improve my creativity I lovee this style of dance
Thank you Steezy! I've been looking forward to trying something new, something outside of my comfort zone. My background is Dancehall (male + female), so I'm excited to try sth completely new and level up 💯 you are great❤️
I would say I’m an intermediate dancer, with the experience of a few hip hop classes. And at school I joined the dance troupe :D which happens to do mostly … contemporary. And being the 5’9, body conscious person with the literal flexibility of a thick stick, I was way out of my comfort zone. And it was a pity because the choreo is so cool. And hearing that there is no right and wrong to contemporary and hearing that it’s all about interpretation, made me that little bit for confident :D
Thank you for this video! I am a praise dancer and want to explore other forms of dance and movement and this really helped me understand the basics of Contemporary dance.❤
This year at my dance studio we’re going to be preforming at Disney springs I was gonna do contemporary this year but my studio didn’t allow it but next year we will. I did every style but that Sonia very excited to donit next year 😻
Her explanation was amazing, this coming from someone who doesn't know much about dance styles! Another great UA-cam video on this subject is Hero on Planet Classroom Network. Summary: Performer Reuel Rogers who personifies self-empowerment through dance!
I want to start learning contemporary on my own. I'm going into my 3rd year of ballet classes and I really want to try it out on my own and see if I would want to start cross-training in contemporary. If you have any tips for getting started lemme know! :)
Hey you! Ever wondered who created you? Well, let me tell you the truth, Jesus Christ! He is your Saviour and heavenly Father. He loves you and died for you. You are never too far gone to get to know Him and accept Him in your heart! :) Have a blessed day!!💖
Sis can i start contemporary at 25 ( I haven't done pilates yoga or exorcise before) I'm totally inflexible but can I start it now and get flexibility at this age?
@@ansika_art I know this is a late reply but someone started ballet at 27 and have no problem so yes I would assume at any age you can start, it's not a lie when people say it's never too late to start. The journey may be longer than if you were a child but who knows, you might pick it up pretty quickly!
Is it too late for me to become a contemporary dancer if I start now? I'm 16. I always wanted to dance but there is no dance studios where I live but I'll start dancing with online classes and videos
Guys I’m 24 yr old. Does anyone think it’s too late to start? Like anyone else on the same boat? How do you guys get confidence to go to a studio to dance?
Hey! I took my first contemporary class when I was 21. Nothing is impossible. Take that class and be consistent with the techniques and you'll soon see tremendous changes! Don't let the age stop you! ♥️
It's funny because contemporary is like "there's no right or wrong" and so now I'm using that as an excuse since it's connected to lyrical and ballet and such and imma just use it as a shield to practice technically LYRICAL but if it looks like shit imma just say "oh it's contemporary" XDDDDD
Interesting. It seems like the "philosophy" and origin of Contemporary Dance actually closely aligns with what choreographers like Keone Madrid, Anthony Lee, and Franklin Yu ucalled "urban dance", if I'm understanding correctly. However, I don't think anyone could confuse the two styles. Why is that? Is there a new name for what was called "urban dance"? I notice that Steezy Studio has "Open Style" in that place now, but I have yet to see that term used elsewhere.
That's exactly what happens to me. Now I join to a class that have 4 dance styles including contemporary dance and I feel really anxious because of that. I'm 23 and also I don't think that I'm flexible enough to dance this, but I think I'll try my best
@@alessandrarojas0120 don’t be contemporary is you learning the dance and expressing yourself through it or doing the moves in your own way. Also you don’t have to be flexible to look you “good” you just have to put your all in it and your emotions :) . Plus it’s about your structure etc

No, that's actually pretty young, you can start at any age, I started at 13
I wanna get back into it but I feel like I’m too old (28) to start again. I’m in New York. Does anyone know of any classes for beginners.

When I was a Christian I praised dance … now noticed that it was also a form of contemporary dance
When you was a Christian? What happened to your faith?
@@dancecultureredefined462 Good point, can't just dance without that spiritual aspect, then it's not praise dance it is just contemporary dance🤨
