I have about 900 hours in Session. I love it. I wish they had a larger budget to work with, but it is what it is. I'm pessimistic about Skate "4", because I don't expect it to scratch the "sim" itch for me like SkaterXL and Session do, but here's hoping. Neat lil vid, subbed.
It's always fun to hear people speak highly about the things they like when I know absolutly zero about them. I feel like it makes it easier to get at the emotions when I have the extra context removed. While I won't be playing it, I'm glad to hear that this genre has something to look forward to with Skate Story.
I feel the same way. I'll watch hours long video essays on games I've never heard of just because I like hearing about people's personal experiences and how it affected them.

If you like skate and Tony hawk definitely check out Tony Hawk Proving grounds I feel like it was the best in between game of the 2 and its an underrated gem imo. Project 8 as well is another one but I never played. I see a lot that skate 2 is considered the best skate game it’s locked to the ps3 and 360 because of copyright issues so it’s a little tougher to play but definitely check it out as well! Skateboarding games have so much to offer you just gotta go back and take a look at what we missed! Would definitely love to see your journey through it.
If you like Skate 3 I would check out Session and Skater XL. Skater XL just feels like a even more in-depth Skate 3 to me, like a true successor. Loved this video though! Surprised you don't have many subs.
yeah, SkaterXL is best controlwise for me too. That game is the perfect skateboarding simualtor with mods. I play that game everyday for the last 2 years, it felt so good to gradually get better each day. Last night I fakie 360 crooked to boardslide to late shuvited a rail so smoothly I almost creamed myself. And then there is also a POV mode where even the most basic tricks feel more rewarding than Skate 3's combos or mission clears.
Definitely check out Session if you're in the mood for a more realistic skating game. Really scratches that ea skate itch for me. There's a bit of a learning curve to it at first, but stick with it and it's really fun. It's so rewarding to finally pull off a trick or line you've been trying to do.
great video your thoughts are pretty similar to mine minus one thing, ive recently really got into skater xl and i find it kinda funny you used the word "stiff" to describe the controls of skater xl. cause i feel the exact opposite, the duel stick control scheme gives you much more control over your board then most other skating games. makes the gameplay feel more fluid then any other skateboarding game ever has for me. so much so that when i go back to play skate 3 cause i still do, the game feels way more stiff in comparison cause the control you have over your board is very minimal in comparison
dude please play Skate 2 and do a retrospective after has played 3 imo skate 2 is the best in the series it just got over shadowed with the quick release of 3
