- I own both the Roland JP-8000 and now the Behringer JT-4000. I just got the JT-4000 for fun and I'm already impressed! Sounds are great, keyboard is actually not that bad, filter is good, and the best part, it's only $49 compared to used JP-8000 prices at around $800 on ebay.
This is only me trying out the supersaw sound on both synths to see how they compare. IMHO the JT-4000 is very close to the JP-8000.
I'd love to hear feedback from what you think.
I've added the following effects from Ableton:
EQ
Delay
Reverb
and a free vst TAL-Chorus-LX

As the original owner of a JP8K you could have fooled me with this thing. Sounds pretty great!
Yes, at least with a few sounds, you can be fooled.
Thanks for sharing this. Your video does showcase well how good the synth engine is on the JT 4000. And your JP 8000 is very impressive! I just looked up the price of a used JP 8000 and am happy that the JT 4000 sounds so close to it.
Hey thank you. That's all Im trying to show. Is the JT4000 just like a JP8000? No. But can you make the supersaw sounds from the JP? Yes! $50 well spent!!
I have the JT-4000 and am loving it, incredibly good especially for the cost, opening the doors to hardware synthesis for the masses.
Couldn't agree with you more! Greatest synth for $50. So much fun to mess around with. I recently downloaded someone preset pack and I love them so much more than the original presets!!
Finally! You are the first person to make a video comparing the two (on UA-cam, at least). Believe it or not, I'm actually more interested in how just the plain sawtooth and square wave oscillators on each synth sound in comparison to each other. Don't know if there's any chance you'd be willing to do a video of that as well?
One of my favorite recorded bass tones was made by combining the JP-8000 with a bass guitar, so I'd love to see if I'd be able to get that same sound from a more compact and more affordable (and more stable!) synth.
Hey thanks, yea that was my idea just to show a quick comparison with just the supersaw. That's a great idea. I just might make some more comparison videos! Stay tuned.
49 for dedicated supersaw box? Yes please!
Totally agree with you! Everyone's hating on this. Is it a JP-8000? no, but can it sound close for $49? Yes!! Do you have one?
@@kneonicI am interested in purchasing it, but I am very disappointed to find it doesn’t have 5pin din midi adapter :( so it won’t work in my setup. Unless I’m missing something.
Edit: I have MRCC that has 4 usb midi ports, maybe that will work
Behringer clones seems to sound a little brighter and the originals to include the 303, 606, 808, and 909.
Yea, I def notice the JT sounds smoother and less "clicky" then the JP
@@kneonic it has one envelope trigger I don't think that the original had one.
Does anyone know what song this trance melody is from?
Hey this is just an original lil melody I was working on at the time.
Analog filter tho
Right!? Tight for under $50!!
The suggestion is to compare pure audio contrasts. Compare all waveforms AB to clearly understand the differences between the two
Lol. The only similarity is the paint job on both, nothing else.
You dont think so? I think the supersaw sounds pretty similar. And yes the paint job is perfect! ha
@@kneonic According your description: "I've added the following effects from Ableton:
EQ
Delay
Reverb
and a free vst TAL-Chorus-LX"
The filter sounds way different, the envelope is horribly buggy on the jt-4000, you cannot make an usable, consistent fast attack lead/bass anything else. Thats why it is unusable for almost any purposes. Bad for bass, bad for leads, low poly for pads, recording and post processing for hours is pointless, it doesnt sound better than any freely accessble vst synth. I almost bought one last year for fun but it was out of stock and I bored on the long waiting... :)
@@rcs2003 Ok listen, its $49 haha!! It snot going to give you what the JP can give you. I was just saying that you can get the supersaw sound similar from the JT-4000
@@kneonic Yeah sure.
What? Did you even watch this?
