omfg Fingon! Now *that* is what a Noldorin High King looks like. Also, I almost punched my computer screen whenever Celegorm was on it. Except then I remembered it's you, and I actually like you. Also I need this screen to keep working. The point is, your rendition of Celegorm is extremely punchable: which is exactly as it should be. I applaud you, I know it's hard to be that annoying on purpose. ngl, when I read The Silmarillion through the second time I actually stopped and growled aloud "you have a literal angel dog Celegorm." And then it hit me, Maedhros has SIX brothers...but it's Fingon who rescues him. Even before Melkor showed up, it wasn't all sunshine and puppies in Fëanor's house, clearly. I'm gay and disabled, I've heard stories like this from both communities. The harassment and the slurs are the visible part, but this is the worst part: the abusive neglect from the people that you are biologically programmed to love. The way they minimize your suffering, trivialize your concerns when you voice them, are too wrapped up in their own affairs to deal with your very real problems etc. The stuff that happens behind closed doors and most people never see and is usually too painful to talk about. It's heartwarming and mind-blowing that Tolkien chose to mythologize *this* experience of all things, and in such spectacular fashion: even though it wasn't part of his personal experience.
Thank you so much for this comment! I'm so happy to hear that both my portrayal of Fingon and that of Celegorm hit the mark, in very different ways😂. And I agree I think what Tolkien did with the Feanorians is very special and just how toxic their whole dynamic is is so wild to even think about.
