this is actually one of the coolest videos i think ive ever seen
This is what i want to watch for hours when I trip
Absolutely amazing work
You did a great job with this video. Thank you.
Very! So Beautiful!!!
0 thumbs down for a reason. 10/10
So amazing thanks for sharing this.
What an amazing video. I didn't expect this to be good just from looking at the thumbnail for some reason... I was wrong. This was super insightful. I didn't know that the inside of the mycelium is so fluid! I assumed it was made up from "solid" cells and always wondered how nutrients were transported throughout the organism. Thank you!
Really pleased you enjoyed the videos, and thanks for highlighting the dynamic nature of the cytoplasm. It often resembles a soup with spaghetti and meatballs! I have many more new clips to share, just adding sounds.
Anyone else find it beautiful how even in a Petri dish (I assume that's what this is) the spores colonize out in a circle, in a pattern almost identical to the mushroom gills that inevitably spawned them
Well done!!!
Wow, truly amazing.
Molds are beautiful but watching them grow gives me uncontrollable heebie-jeebies
Fungiing amazing!
Will of survivor ^^ . Nice cat after mice run at 1.54.
Thank you very much.
Would it be possible to purchase rights to this video? My band would love to use it one of our music videos. Beautiful work!

Hi Dr. Hickey! We've sent you an email, we'd love to hear back from you. Thank you for your time!
Are those jack o lanterns? (the bioluminescent ones)
At 2:03 what are the little black lumps traveling through the filaments? Is it liquid inside of the filaments that transports nutrients??
Sure. Why not..
Sure. Why not..
The black lumps are negatively stained (un-labelled) nuclei (DNA) within the cytoplasm. It's a bit like spaghetti and meatballs in soup flowing though a network of pipes!
My god the spores really are tiny tiny baby mushrooms! Lol
Do you sell video s like this for introduction purposes?
We are one
pop some jake chudnow on in the backround nd you got a solid vid brah

Hello - really beautiful video, thank you for sharing! :)
A question: does anybody know what the mycelium is growing in from 0:53 - mycelium growth macro? How was this flat dark blue background achieved?
Although I have no clue what sort of mycelium that is (because it’s basically impossible to distinguish different kinds mycelium as far as mushrooms go), I do have some guess to how they achieved the background. I’d assume they put dye inside of the agar before pouring it as well as putting the plate on a black background before filming.
