    Nice and clever work congratulations! At red heat iron reaches the Curie point and stops being magnetic so re-tuning is needed to allow higher current withdrawal to elevate the tube to higher white heat . That is add/ remove more capacitors to reach resonance and pump higher currents for white heat.

    how to figure out how many turns in the toroidal transformer?
    and can you use 1 single 4,5uF 400VAC capacitor?

    • @tinayoga8844
      @tinayoga8844 2 роки тому +2

      The capacitors and the work coil have very high resonant current flowing. This is needed to make the strong magnetic field. The two turns of wire around the welder's inductor is only feeding the resonant tank circuit. That is why it can use only a small gauge wire. But the circulating current through the work coil and the capacitors are way higher. Think at least 10 times higher. That is why there needs to be so many capacitors. You need to split that high current among many devices.

    • @computerkiller1494
      @computerkiller1494 2 роки тому +1

      uhhh idk how to precisely calculate that but the transformer rule is: more turns more voltage, less turns more amperage... so try with two, if too hot add turns, if too cold try going down to one turn.
      no, you can't use a 4,5uF 400V capacitor, you have to split the current among a lot of capacitors, or it will melt cause of the high current, but the voltage in game is very low so if you find a 200V or 100V capacitor it will go great.

    • @computerkiller1494
      @computerkiller1494 8 місяців тому

      @@tech.5137 the voltage applied to it will depend on the voltage output of the transformer. The current flowing THROUGH the capacitor should be minimal, even with a series resistor applied on the cap as a bleeding resistor. The current that flows from the transformer to the coil is determined by the entie circuit's resistance, you should be able to get a small resistance using some big diameter wire.
      EDIT: you can make 4 or 5 turns instead of two to get a higher voltage and so being able to transport more current through the wires.

    The conductor wire coming out of the internal toroidal coil is about to touch the weld + wire.
    It is better to insulate it.
    The wire connecting the resonant circuit coil and capacitor is too thin.
    Keep the connection between the coil and capacitor as short as possible.

    • @tr_2sc1970
      @tr_2sc1970 Рік тому

      What do you mean by shortage? Do you get short circuit? 2.25 uF is not a big difference, but the overall capacitance you use must comply. That means better get overall capacitance of 5 uF and try a large working coil (many turns) and thick wire. For example 2mm thick wire, 20 turns, coil diameter 55mm (5.5cm). Don't try large metal at the beginning and don't insert the metal deep in the coil, slowly when it gets red the curren drops then move it very slowly deeper in the coil.
