*Hello you lovely lot! How has your week been? I hope you enjoy this brief peek into our Christmas and my little "haul" of gifts - apologies for my slurred post-dentist voice* 😂 *Ali xx* ✨
Beautiful gifts Ali. Can I suggest that you put your Alice in Wonderland book in the freezer for a while? This will kill anything in there, including mould which could spread to your other books. It's a lovely copy to add to your collection. Happy New Year ❄️
Thanks for powering through even with a mouth that’s half numb! We appreciate you! ❤No worries about the little brown spots on the old copy of Alice, they’re called foxing”, and aren’t mold but a product of oxidization of metal partials in the paper. I also love the smell of old books! My mom always laughs at me when she walks into the room and I’m sniffing a book. I swear it’s an instant serotonin boost! 😂😂
You trying to say Friday really tickled me. What luck your other tooth broke on the way to the dentist & not on your way home! The superstition from magpies isn’t really about humans. Magpies mate for life so when we say one for sorrow it’s sorrow for the magpie because they’ve lost their partner .. two for joy because they have their partner 👍🏻 x
Who would believe it Ali that you broke a tooth on the other side glad you were able to get them both fixed though I think he might of given you a horse anaesthetic 😂 but how amazing are you for still coming to visit us ❤️ loved seeing all your gifts, love the musty smell of old books and bookshops that smell a little musty! The sheep you did is adorable, you’re so good a woman of many talents! Nearly 3/4 the way through my book The Silent Patient , so good I am steaming through! See you soon, enjoy the cosiness . Love & Hugs, Suze. 📚🐑💛❤️💚🤗 xxx
I do believe you're loved and highly regarded by many if those perfect-for-you gifts are any indication! I love the smell of old books as well. Such a warming, cozy smell, like coming home. Your garden lights are wonderful! I now need to find some lol. Have a great New Year celebration, in whatever form it will take. I'll be sitting in my comfy chair crocheting. Hugs to all.
Haha!! My business name was possibly the worst thing to pronounce with a numb mouth! Thank you so much for showing my kits and awesome sheep! Hope the teeth are improving, Happy New Year 😊xx
I hadn't realised before how many Fs, Ps and Bs you have 😂 I have now made two sheep - the second one is hilarious. Doing the third today and I have adored doing them! Thank you so much Pippa 🐑 xx
What lovely presents! I love getting a new book for Christmas. I bought myself one just before Christmas just in case I didn't receive one. But my husband came through with a book called Lenten Lands by CS Lewis's stepson.
I love seeing what people receive for Christmas. How thoughtful of Lilia to buy you such a special owl book gift. I love how your Christmas is knot about the buying, but the personalitization behind the gifts. The sheep turned out so cute. How Kong did it take you? Did you use the leather finger protector?
At least you got two teeth fixed in one sitting. Imagine the second one breaking on the way home from the dentist 😳 Enjoy your time between the years with your family! I always enjoy watching your vlogs and seeing what you are up to
Love seeing your Christmas gifts, i too Love Alice in Wonderland so loved your yarn you were gifted & your lovely book your thoughtful daughter bought you. I had a few Alice gifts too.xx Love your sheep you made, sooo cute!xx
Ive watched a castle for Christmas as well it's absolutely terrible but I absolutely love it for it 😂 having a numb mouth and trying to talk is always amusing
Thanks for showing us your gifts , The birdcage library looks good what a good pick from your mum …. Maybe she could also tell us what she has read 😂… I love the light up mushrooms 🍄 how cute will love to see what they look like in the garden 🪴 , the little sheep is so beautiful and cute , and the book from lillia how lovely it’s so nice to get a old book like that …..🎄📚🎄💛
Not sure what is happening on my end but my comments disappear! Love your Alice book, I found The Works of William Shakespeare in a charity shop for $3.00. It was a first prize to a young girl for Advent 1913-1914 from Bowden Parish Church, Sunday School signed by the teacher, superintendent and the Vicar, A MaitlandWoods...all on the book plate. The pages are paper thin. Love all your gifts xx
❤❤ahhh,,,ali🎉 Loved that early this morning,,thank you,,, Love ur shawl,,,lovely to have a finish!!! Can't wait to see it ,,all blocked,,,, Sweet sheep!!!! Love all ur gifts,, And the time between Christmas and new years,,,, ELAINE 🏡💕
I snorted when you said you were watching A Castle for Christmas which is truly awful and one of your favorite films. It's SOOOO bad. And so good. So unrealistic, and just the whimsy we need. 😂
I just read all the empathetic comments about your dental troubles. I can identify as I have had more than my share of dental woes in spite of my best efforts to care for my teeth. But I have to confess that when you said FFFFFreya, I had to pause the video because I was laughing so hard. Thanks for the giggles.😂😂😂 Good going Lillia! What a brilliant gift! I absolutely love your felted sheep. Adorable! Thank you for Vlogmas and especially for this video. Vlogmases are a blessing but I do feel the letdown after the holidays when they end. I like your idea of watching the Vlogmas videos I missed. January can feel very bleak. Too bad January vlogs are not a thing. Hope the dental repair is going well.💛💛💛
You received some fab gifts, Ali... I absolutely love the felted sheep you've made, gorgeous. The crocheted scarf/shawl you made lovely (can't remember what it's called). I know you said you might vlog I between Xmas and New Year but I forgot, so it was a nice surprise. Take care, see you in the next video. 😊
So glad for these Twixtmas vlogs 😍 love your gifts, Ali, so very considered! Exactly the way I like them (and never get them 😅). You’ve just created a new need in me: those felt sheep 😍 they are adorable! 🥰
Just loved seeing all your gifts Ali ❤. Lucky girl! Also, I have never seen felting done before & just to see how you start & your completed gorgeous little sheep was delightful 👏👏👏. So sorry about your teeth & how expensive that can be. I have just found a crack in one of my molars which is bothering me, so I will be visiting the dentist soon too to give him lots of my money as well 😱. Cheers 😍👏💕🤗🥰❤️
The lightup mushrooms are priceless! Hope they make them in the States. Great job on the sheep. Lilia must have been so excited that her hunt for Christmas books ended up with that wonderful 1930s copy. In a few years it will be 100. Wow. Thanks for doing videos until the end of the month. Something to look forward to viewing at this quiet time
Oh my goodness, everything is so beautiful that you received. That yarn is absolutely delicious. And the felting kit and the sheep at the end. So adorable. I love your Alice book. And that pom pom heart. Oh wow! I am sure the freezing has long left but I have heard that warm compresses will move things along quickly.
Thank you for showing your gifts, so very thoughtful! Hope you enjoy the rest of betwixmas and look forward to your walking video in January as I would love to join in.
Wow Ali you have done a brilliant job of needle felting the sheep well done You certainly got some good gifts what I like is they are not mega expensive but what you want even the fly agaric mushroom pin I’m a little obsessed in collecting fly agaric bits these days as the are popular & available See you next time love to all 🥰
Merry In-Between-mas! It’s good to see your lovely face again! So glad you were able to get a dentist appointment so quickly, for BOTH broken teeth! 😮 I consider dentistry to be a necessary evil! Your speech doesn’t sound slurry at all.
Thank you for doing Vlogmas. I feel your pain (or lack thereof) 😊 after the dentist. I was wondering if you had seen a copy of Alice in Wonderland by Mina Lima? It’s one of my husbands favourite books. The illustrations and bits are amazing. Hope your tooth feels better soon
Thanks Lynne! I take a very high dose daily supplement of vitamin D now (because of my lack of a bowel) but I think years of depletion and steroid treatment have ruined my teeth 🫣
What lovely gifts ❤ I attempted the 1000mile walking challenge but I don’t think I even made it to 500 miles!! I started off well but like you don’t enjoy the heat so much so got out of the habit through the summer but I’m going to try again next year and see if I finish doing more than this year. Have just followed you over on Instagram for the walking motivation!!
Anyone else would take time off from vlogging, after having their teeth fixed!! Well done and thank you for providing us with yet more fantastic content. How are the chickens coping with the cold weather?
The chickens are doing great - they will show up in part 3 of these vlogs as they were keen to get on camera 😅 They do well in low temperatures - they have lovely warm feathers to keep them toasty :)
Hello Ali , I hope you don't have to go to the dentist again . Love all the gifts you got , it is all so you that book from Alice in wonderland is such a beautiful gift . Hope to see you soon ❤
Oh dear. That is so sad that your other tooth broke but good you could get them sorted together. I hope your mouth feels back to normal soon. I tried needle felting but I must have been doing something wrong as it took forever to get into a shape. I love your sheep - it has inspired me to give it a try again. ❤
I would highly recommend Felts by Phillipa here on UA-cam - she has lots of tutorials for beginners. It took me about 25 minutes to get the main form (the big white ball) of the sheep - with one green needle (and I only stabbed myself three times! 😂)
Paddock House was a catholic girls grammar school it no longer exists just thought you’d like a little background I live the next town on from Accrington I had friends who went there x
I had to abandon my plans to do the 1000 mile walking challenge this year due to some family illness but I am hoping to do it in 2025 so I will be following along with your progress 😊x
Hey Ali, im from Preston and i totally know which bookshop Lilia got that from. Dont want to get banned for advertising 😂 but its really close to the uni x
Your walking is not a failure! You logged over 800 miles! It reminds me of setting a goal for my fifth graders to read 50 books, and having them say they only read 40. I would say but you read 40 books! How many did you read in fourth grade. Typically, the answer was less than 5. Be kind to yourself. I'm sure you walked even when you didn't want to go out.
The project I was working on in this video was the Just Feel Festive Shawl www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/just-feel-festive-shawl The first crochet blanket I made was a granny square - I just kept going until it was big enough :) But my favourite blanket pattern is the Neat Ripple by Attic24 - it's totally free on her blog with great photos and instructions xx
I use Eucalan, as it doesn't need rinsing. I have the jasmine one, which I use as I have a big bottle, but I don't love the smell so always add a few drops of lavender oil too :) xx
Did the dentist remove your broken teeth? I had to have a tooth removed just before christmas, I was quite upset about losing it but my dentist said it was cracked so he couldn’t save it. Oooo I didn't know about that, I will do so - I will wrap it in a bag and tea towel and give it some chill out time :) ❄️

Suzanne's yarn is beautiful🩵💙

I hope your mouth is feeling better. It was fun to see what gifts you received. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!
It is ok Ali. I would say most of us have been on that side of the dental chair before.
Your shawl looks so beautiful Ali. Can't wait to see it blocked.
I had to stop the video and google "magpie superstition UK." I never knew this. Thank you for sharing.
OMG!! That sheepie! Well done!! Happy betwixtmas!
Thank you for showing us your awesome Christmas gifts! I love the needle felting kits and your little sheep is adorable! Hope your teeth are ok now xx
I love those felted sheep so much!
And I’m pretty excited to have more vlogs :)
That was a lovely surprise, so glad you got to the dentist.
Love the Christmas gifts too.❤
Have you ever been to Castle Howard up near York at Christmas time? They decorate with an Alice in Wonderland theme.
Happy holidays to you and family.
That has made me laugh and I knew you must have been to the dentist. Loved this. We also stayed in our Jim jams on Boxing Day and it was wonderful. ❤
I broke a front tooth this past Sunday. So very surprised and grateful that my dentist was able to take care of me on Monday!
Oh I am glad you got it sorted out! 🦷
Oh my goodness, everything is so beautiful that you received. That yarn is absolutely delicious. And the felting kit and the sheep at the end. So adorable. I love your Alice book. Well Hej from Copenhagen, i recommend books written by Tove ditlevsen. She is a dansih tressure. Happy holidays love your videos🎄🇩🇰
Hej! Thank you so much for this recommendation, I have looked her up and think I will read her Copenhagen trilogy next year 🤗
I feed the Magpies by me, I have one we call Mags she comes no matter what and will sit on my fence until I put more food out.
Aw! That's adorable!

my teeth cracked due to low levels of vitamin d...love love your yarn and old book .
Thanks Lynne! I take a very high dose daily supplement of vitamin D now (because of my lack of a bowel) but I think years of depletion and steroid treatment have ruined my teeth 🫣

Oh yay! I'll be doing it again in 2025 - even though I won't complete 1000 in 2024 I am still out every day collecting miles :)
Anyone else would take time off from vlogging, after having their teeth fixed!! Well done and thank you for providing us with yet more fantastic content. How are the chickens coping with the cold weather?

Hello Ali , I hope you don't have to go to the dentist again . Love all the gifts you got , it is all so you that book from Alice in wonderland is such a beautiful gift . Hope to see you soon ❤
Needed this, dying on the sofa whilst working on my shawl i started on my birthday. ❤❤
Oh no! Get well soon xx ❤️

Have loved your vlogs. Would love to join you with your challenge. What app do you use to track your walking?x
Love the sheep! Nice work. Merry Christmas ... to you all.
Merry Christmas Julie! x
One of your best vlogs.😊Happy new year to you and your family.
Aw! Thank you! Happy New Year to you too Nadine xx
Hey Ali, im from Preston and i totally know which bookshop Lilia got that from. Dont want to get banned for advertising 😂 but its really close to the uni x
Oh yay! She is quite in love with that place :) 📚
Dentist usually advise to drink with a straw after injections.
Have you read Salt and Broom by Sharon Lynn Fisher? It’s a retelling of Jane Eyre (the MC is named Jane Aire ) and it’s fantastic.
❤
Your walking is not a failure! You logged over 800 miles! It reminds me of setting a goal for my fifth graders to read 50 books, and having them say they only read 40. I would say but you read 40 books! How many did you read in fourth grade. Typically, the answer was less than 5. Be kind to yourself. I'm sure you walked even when you didn't want to go out.
Ah thank you! It's true, I am proud of my 850 miles, but I also loved doing it, so it's a definite success! xx
I saw a quick glimpse of your crochet blanket. I have it in my head to try to crochet one. Which one would you recommend? 🙏
The project I was working on in this video was the Just Feel Festive Shawl www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/just-feel-festive-shawl
The first crochet blanket I made was a granny square - I just kept going until it was big enough :) But my favourite blanket pattern is the Neat Ripple by Attic24 - it's totally free on her blog with great photos and instructions xx
Have you read ' A year of Living Danishly' by Helen Russell. Really good read. Happy New Year❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I have! I loved it 🇩🇰 Happy New Year! x
Know your feeling on dentist. I had a root canal before Christmas. Want fun.
Ugh!! Glad that's all behind you Elaine xx
Hi you may have said this lots, but what do you use as a wool wash?
I use Eucalan, as it doesn't need rinsing. I have the jasmine one, which I use as I have a big bottle, but I don't love the smell so always add a few drops of lavender oil too :) xx
Did the dentist remove your broken teeth? I had to have a tooth removed just before christmas, I was quite upset about losing it but my dentist said it was cracked so he couldn’t save it. It’s a side tooth so not very noticeable, but I may have an implant when my gum settles.
(Love the sheep, would make a lovely little gift for someone) xx
Thanks Barbara! No - fortunately I had enough of the teeth remaining to have fillings, but I may need crowns in future (starting to save up now! 💷) xx
Hi Ali sorry about your teeth, are you lacking in something to cause this?
You had the real wool yarn advents what do you plan to use them for? could they be used for needle punching?
My teeth were affected by treatments for my ulcerative colitis since I was 19 - I had a lot of steroids etc 🦷
Some of the fibre from the advent can definitely be used for needle felting, I will be giving them a try! 🤗
I’ve had teeth randomly break and it’s because I grind my teeth. I need to wear a splint at night to stop grinding. Wonder if this is you too?
I actually do grind my teeth! I will mention this when I see my dentist in a couple of weeks, thanks for that tip!
Poor you what a time to have dental problems
❤
