HONDA CIVIC DRIVE BELT TENSIONER - HOW TO REMOVE/INSTALL - 2007 HONDA CIVIC

- Hey guys! Here we bring you another project I am working on. This Honda Civic is shaking like crazy! It’s a loud vibration noise that is felt through out the car! We started by replacing the drive belt tensioner which was messed up and falling apart on this car.
Well long story short. Just replacing the drive belt tensioner did not fix my problem. I also had to replace the motor mounts on this. Which is on a separate video!
In this video I show you exactly how I go about removing the parts that will allow us to get down to the tensioner! I am sorry I didn’t record me taking the belt off... it’s a simple and easy process. Just needs patience.
I have included a recording of ALLDATA on how to repair this issue. I have included that in the video to simplify the Fix for you.
Once again. Thanks for watching! Like, Subscribe & Share!

this is a much better approach compared to the ones where they remove the motor mounts. well done.
Kyle Her thanks for watching! We tried making it as simple as possible :)
@@HidalgoMotorsCo we didn't have to move the motor mounts on my 2006 honda civic my friend put a jack under it and loosed up the two main bolts on the motor mount just enough so he could let the motor slowly drop and see if he could see the bolt we needed to fix.. no mount removal.. nothing like that..
Great Video Bud. Actually looking forward to replacing it tomorrow and so thankful for you calling out socket sizes and making a slow patient video man!!
When bolt real tight, spray it soak it, after letting it sit for a day, tightened it a bit before loosening, works for me every time
Tantadadaaaa!! Thanks for this video.. just broke my tensioner bolt and thatnks to you I know exactly what to expect!!
It’s really useful because no need drop down motor. Thanks bro
Thanks a lot men! This video is really helpful!!!!
I liked your enthusiasm, excellent detailed video.
Great stuff. Really enjoyed.
Very helpful video. Thanks for the information!!
Hey thanks for watching! Glad we could help you out!
Bro! I like the persistence and patience demonstrated within taking that parts out! Who said you needed to lower the engine down? And you didn’t even use a power tools! If i could also do the position the vent relinquish in that one part of ur. video, then, for sure i can take mine out too! Thanks for that very helpful and positive video!
Great job👍👍
Great video man the video helped a lot.
Good teacher very clear
Well done.Nice.
Good work really helped me thanks

My car make some noise and I ready replace my alternator and I still the noise
Did ur broken belt tensioner make a lot of noise? especially when you went to start up the engine?
Great video bro, good for me I have a civic 06
Very nice tool box. He got dem tools !
I just saw them for $79 on Xmas clearance at Home Depot. It's a good starting point.
Thank you!👍🤘💪
Paul Saari you are very welcome my friend! Thanks for watching! Glad we could help!
Y'all be careful with those 3 bolts on the water pump pulley , they round off easily
Great video that will help 👍👌
Amazing video. Gonna be doing this myself but I’m just worried about that 8 mm Allen key bolt
thanks so much for watching! its no biggie just go on amazon or ebay and tools should be cheap :)
You can remove or loosen the motor mount bolts and lower the engine so you can get the Allen bolt through the wheel well. It makes it a lot easier trust me it's better than stripping it
Hey man! Thanks for the very informative video! Just a quick question, for the last bolt using the 8mm allen socket, can I use allen wrench instead? Is it doable?
You should really use a socket
Actually a great idea, just to start the threads and to tighten the bolt to snug. Then switch to the allen socket as it needs to be tightened to 41 foot pounds. You cannot do that with an allen wrench.
Very good.
thanks for the video now i have to see if i have the correct tools to make by my self cos i have the same noise in my civic
gracais amigo
Thankyou soo much....
You are very welcome my friend! Thanks for watching!
I like it thx you
TQ from Indonesia 🇮🇩
I like that service manual where can I purchase one. And thanks for the vid
Got a quick question to ask about this specific job. Hopefully somebody answers back right away. When removing the water pump on this engine is it possible at all to clear the water pump without taking the tensioner off?
Why those other videos they need to removed front right wheel as this guy managed to do it from the top only👍👍
22:19 the right side of new tensioner, pass the joint, is clearly shorther than on old one.. did u get it replaced? Did it fit?
Or is it just how it looks compressed vs decompressed?
One is honda OEM, the other is duralast, duralast hydraulic lift is shorter but its actual arm is longer, if you can tell by the distance after the raised portion…
was it making a knocking noise? please advise?
i hear a knocking in my car?
hey man, ive seen your turbo build. ive been looking around also and seen your comments on a bunch of videos. mines also making knocking noise. wanna compare the sounds? im thinking it might be the tensioner
That's a nice tool box
Just replaced the shock spring only. Don’t risk snapping that pivot bolt!
My car is making that rattling noise, i want to do this, but is there an easier way of diagnosing, or only way is to remove the alternator?
Please give yourself a vacation to Vegas on getting that 10 mm pivot bolt out at the first go.
how has the duralast brand tensioner held up?
Hey thanks for watching! To answer your question it’s doing very well… definitely worth the money!
How did you remove the tensioner pivot bolt?
My car is making that rattling noise too. Did this in fact fix it?
same thing on a 08 i am working on needed a power steering pump pays 1.6 hrs but had to cut the belt off after i seen the tensioner came apart engine was shaking and looked over the top mount was busted. All related 500.00 shop bill
I’m currently hearing a knocking sound coming from the passenger side so I’m hoping this is the cause
i tried this exact process and stripped the head any ideas on how to remove it?
It’s gonna be very difficult... try getting a bolt extractor maybe?
@@HidalgoMotorsCo one of my best friends actually came over yesterday and fixed it for me.. what he did was drop the moter just enough to get that bolt in view, drill out the hole with a bigger drill bit or one that was as close to the size he needed ( the original size was 8mm and he used a 9mm to extract it ) and tapped the 9mm into the hole and cracked it with a breaker bar.. but we did use special extractor bits that was kinda expensive they was like $20+ they was made to help not have the head strip.. so if anyone reads this comment and needs help i hope this helps 🙏💙 these are the bits we used :

@@TeamTechaholics we used left handed 8mm extractor with drill in reverse, using stop, start method
@terry.lcarmy i got everything taken out of the car that was in the way and actually was able to grip it with a pair of medical gloves.. it had just enough sticking out i could twist it out.. i since have sold the car and now own a 2020 honda civic hatchback sport.
How did you know it was bad? Did it shake in reverse ?
Kevin Bautista my car would vibrate and shake really loud when idling and accelerating basically at all times... I had bad engine mounts. I replaced them and it fixed the problem. There was a rattling loud vibration coming from the front and we had the honda dealer run a full diagnosis and we did the labor and parts. I have a video showing how to do the engine mounts as well
My bolts are super tight on the water pump pulley? Also I tried putting a screw driver and they still don’t move?
Try using a breaker bar. And try putting the belt back on and doing it with the belt holding it as pressure.
Hidalgo Motors Co TV the only problem is the tensioner Bolt is rounded off, I bought some serpentine removal kit and nothing but garbage they rounded off my bolt.
Hidalgo Motors Co TV only problem is the tensioner bolt is rounded off
If your tensioner bolt is rounded, cut the belt off with a razor. Install a new tensioner.
Can you film a fuel pump on a 2004 Nissan Altima?? hahah thats my next project
Some one help will a tencher for pully fit a civic off of Ford or dodge please an thank you
Any advice
Will a pully tencher fit civic off of a Ford please help
You are lucky. I see very little rust. You must live where they don’t put salt on the roads. Most people have a lot of trouble with the 8mm hex bolt
I used alen socket on that 8mm and it spun, now it's partially stripped. NOW WHAT ?!
What the code belting?
It’s easier to remove the motor mount and tire lots of room just saying
yeah thank you very much. we tried to make it as easy as possible and did not think this video was gonna get as many views as it did.
On the flip side, you know what they say about fat hands. Cant win all contests you know...
Can be easy, or could be a nighmare. If your taking this on you better know how to drill and tap broke off bolts.
Honda recommends .... engine replacement, if the torx breaks.. the engineers need a good kicking.
motor mount. tensioner. belt power steering pump fluid 500.0 is way to cheap
antizises your bolts pees
What are u doing.. U can just replace the spring there and that's it. Why replace the whole thing?? Go to Honda dealership get just the spring under the alternator.. that's it. 2 bolts 🔩 . Done. Jeeee
Do you know the part number? I saw they sell it for the 2016-2020 civics wonder if it’s the same part. Saw another video of the guy changing it but he didn’t know where the customer got the part.
