I think the best wig on her was the short one. It really suited her!
The political climate right now is hard. I am a teacher, and most of my students are Black and POC. I worry about them and the country they will have to face as they grow up.
I’m not one to change up the color of my hair, but I have noticed I tend to cut it to a bob when I’m stressed. I also get the urge to give myself bangs, but I’ve never followed through on that. I did dye my hair purple once using non-permanent dye. I’d go purple again.
Thank you for sharing! My daughter and sister-in-law are teachers. It’s a hard place to be. They both are worried as am I. I had thought about changing to purple but I probably won’t color my hair again.
Thanks for video Nettie. They make me happy to see and your positive attitude and stories I just think are awesome.
@@Catoftheogdollcollectors awww thank you so much for your kind words! I’m happy my videos bring you some joy. ☺️
I really appreciated this video Nettie. I loved the way you tied in the wigs with the reasons you changed your own hairstyles and in doing so also sharing very personal details of your life. Happy belated 60th Birthday! ❤ The pandemic was such a difficult time for many people. For me, I was actually living with my adult son and his girlfriend following the end of a relationship that didn’t work out. Thankfully the three of us had each other but since they were a young couple, I spent a lot of time alone in my room to give them space and privacy. It was an isolating and scary time for sure. I spent hours watching doll videos on UA-cam and when I finally got my own place I really got into doll collecting. I really missed my Son and his Fiancé and I was adjusting to living alone again. I am sorry for the loss of your parents. I understand your feeling about your Dad as I have similar feelings about my Dad. There were things I wished we had said and shared before he passed. I never changed my hair color too drastically though! lol. I usually get some lighter blonde highlights and that’s about it. Thanks again for sharing. Too bad the doll wigs didn’t fit a bit better. Take care and don’t let the butterflies scare you. We are all going to be ok. Hugs from Canada. 🙏🥰
@@CherishedDollFriends thanks Cheryl. I really appreciate your sharing, too. I can see how your situation was isolating too. At least I could walk about my house freely. Thank goodness for the doll community! Likewise, I was watching tons of YT videos on some of my other interests. It truly helped to feel connected, even from a distance.
I pray you are right and we get through it all. I know it’s hard up there in Canada, too, and Mexico, below.
Stuck in the middle and hugs to the universe! Especially our dolly friends.
I lost all of my hair in 2018 as I went through chemotherapy. The bald doll reminds me of how I looked at that time! Losing my hair was the worst part of dealing with cancer. People would say ,”It’s only hair. It will grow back.” Easy to say when it is not your hair! I tried wigs but hated them, so I just wore a cap. Fortunately, I am now almost 7 years cancer-free. I wouldn’t be able to buy a doll without hair or with wigs because it would remind me of that difficult time. Our hair is so important to us, as your stories illustrate. ❤
Thank you for sharing your story.
I am so sorry that you had to go through all that. I am very glad to hear you are cancer free, thank goodness!
I think that AG created bald dolls for children who may be going through chemotherapy or have alopecia to make them feel included.
Hi Nettie, another nice video. Love your stories, they are in some way relateable but interesting to hear how you dealt with things. Sorry you had a big birthday alone. It was a strange time and I think over 4 years on people have their own views of that time. Love the dress you dressed you #114 in. Thanks for sharing 😊
@@debbiesullivanstoneivydoll5646 hi Debbie! That dress is super sweet!
Yes so true that people have their own views about those pandemic years. We all have our experiences and can really only share from what we know.
Good news is that I will turn 65 soon, another big birthday and I won’t be spending it alone this time.
@nettiezdolls6742 that's awesome and glad you have someone to spend it with. Plus we will all be here for you to share, if you want too. Have a great day, Monday morning here, sunny and warm (Summer) .
Hi Nettie! I have re-wigged many of my AG dolls. I noticed #114 doesn't have the slightly ridged scalp like other AG dolls. That's probably why the wigs are not gripping. The silicone cap would probably be a good idea. I just want to say, I totally understand how you feel in today's climate! I am very concerned, too! I have been trying to pour myself into doing all those re-stringings, etc.jobs, I have been putting off. My dolls comfort and distract me greatly! 😊Keep connected! Thank you for your share!
@@paulettepalmer4860 thank you, Paulette, for letting me know. Yes now that I think of it, there is no ridge on #114 like other AG dolls. Haha, I feel better knowing it now. I will love dressing her with beautiful hair ribbons.
Yes, my dolls are definitely a beautiful and happy distraction, and I’m thankful for them and the doll community.
Bald is beautiful! I think that you would have better luck with getting the wigs to stay on your doll's head if you use a doll that had hair and then you removed the wig from the doll. The bald dolls that AG released have such smooth heads that the wigs just want to slide off. I was a brand rep for Exquisite Doll Designs when it was around. I collected a bunch of dolls for wig models. I took all of their original wigs off. I still have my wig collection. I never finished my last wig video that I started last year. I should finish it!
And I knew who you mentioned with the pink hair right away. I ran into her when I went to the World of Barbie in 2023.
@@sew4dolls yes Bald is beautiful. Leila (#114) let me know. 🥰
Where did you get that red and black dress it’s stunning and I would love to find one for my collection. Thank you for sharing your story.❤
❤❤ I got it from Pat Lacourse on FB. She sells doll clothes on FB.

So sad, to spend any birthday alone. We lived as thought smovid didn't exist, got together for extended family gatherings as usual, never masked. Looking back I hope you acknowledge how sad and silly all that was. I'm actually fairly unwell right now, took my toddlers to our local childrens museum today, chasing them around probably delayed my getting better but it was worth it. Pretty doll.
Hmmm fairly unwell right now almost as if pretending in a comfortable lie is actually putting you at risk. I hope someday you can look back and see how silly you were for not protecting yourself and your loved ones.
@@ShannonCLCA thank you for sharing.
It wasn’t a choice I could make. My daughter had a strict no contact rule during the height of the pandemic. If I wanted to keep my job, I had to be vaccinated. I was fortunate that all that happened to me was being lonely on my birthday and months later, having a mild case of CV-19.
I had a friend whose mother died from an active CV-19 infection, a friend whose son was admitted into a pediatric ward and fortunately survived, and an athletic nephew who needed experimental treatments in order to be able to walk more than 20 yards without having to sit to catch his breath months after having CV-19. I’m not in a position to judge others how they handled the pandemic. We all did the best we could. It sure was a crazy time.
I do hope you feel better soon! It’s hard to be sick, especially when our children are young. 🌸
Nettie Im stuck. I made a post on FB too. Is Suyin face mould same as Milana? I think you have both the OG dolls to compare.
@@Catoftheogdollcollectors I’m answering some of your questions altogether here.
Suyin and Melina are different face molds. An example of another doll with Suyin is Lake. OG no longer makes dolls with the Suyin face. But yes, Suyin, Lake, and Milana do have the same face molds.
amen
