  • It's here! The first of my new PNSO dinosaurs, and I have to say the detail and sculpting is incredible! I love ankylosaurs, possibly my 3rd favourite dinosaur group, and I've been hoping for more Borealopelta figures. Sadly only CollectA has done it, until now.
    And how better than PNSO to put their mark on this wonderful dinosaur. The amount of research that must have gone into this has to be seen to be believed!

    Great review! I love the references to the scientific information known.

      Thank you Michael! A few years ago I decided to really step up my knowledge of dinosaurs in a more serious way, and that included reading papers of dinosaurs I like. The more I learnt the more I was able to appreciate these new dinosaurs from PNSO, CollectA, Wild Safari, and the like. Still as a self-learner I'm fully aware I might misinterpret or get things wrong, so I welcome all corrections or ideas! 😊

      @@DinosDragons that’s really awesome! I also re-discovered a love for dinosaurs over the past few years and am really enjoying learning more about the science of these creatures as living animals. Thanks for what you do!

    Just found your channel! Excellent review! I fully agree-fantastic sculpt with a very lackluster paint. But no doubt PNSO is putting out some nice figures.

      I definitely agree! And don't let my review give you the wrong idea and put you off this one. Honestly if you've never seen the concept art, the paintjob is pretty good! I think sometimes these companies do themselves a little more harm than good by putting up so many awesome release pictures, and then that's the image people fall in love with. Also there might be variations, so who knows, maybe someone else will have a much lighter paintjob than what I received.

    beautiful model of a beautiful fossil

      It's incredible! I've been fasincated with Borealopelta since we heard of the fossil remains, and surprised no one followed up CollectA's offering since we know so much about it. Hopefully others might look at doing one, but for now I'm hoping for Zuul!

      Thank you, indeed it is! PNSO just keeps delivering, and sadly, that means we all just keep spending!

    Your Gavin looks like he's Erythristic with all that red! (Which I wouldn't mind since I love colour morphs :P)
    I looked up what other people's models looked like and the ones I could see looked much less red than yours and closer to the box image.

    Ausome that you have reviewed all the new PNSO figures so now I know if I want them or not

      Hahah thank you! But in keep in mind that's just one guy's opinion though, so ask around. If someone actually has some in hand show them to you! For example this Borealopelta I have, my paint work is actually different from someone else's. Lighting also makes a difference.

    Really nice review! I have Sede, but Gavin woukld make a nice addition!

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому

      It absolutely would! I might be wrong (will measure when I get my Sede), but by my calculations they are both the same scale, so you would be happy to have an accurate representation of their relative sizes if you display them side by side!

    Man thank you for this review but I was really hoping at the end you will put the pnso ankylsaur and boreapelta side by side comparison. Anyways thanks for sharing to us!

      Thanks Bernard, I actually never ordered the Ankylosaurus until recently, so I don't have it right now. Otherwise I would definitely have done so. I might still do that eventually. Do you have the Sede?

    This one caught my eye when i first discovered PNSO and was looking for lower priced figures.

      By now I think it may not matter. Usually the best time to catch it at its best paint apps will be the first or second run production. Subsequent runs tend to have deterioriations in paint apps so I dont recomment waiting to long for future releases you like 😃

    I have Sede the Anky-boy
    And Comes badly painting . . .
    Stupid PNSO why they just paint the figures following like the Prototype⁉️ 😤
    Now I'm not going to buy this one

    • @DinosDragons
      @DinosDragons  3 роки тому +3

      Please don't base your decision on my review!
      Firstly my model might differ from someone else's. It's quite common that I have a darker shade and someone else has a lighter shade. I would say if you never saw the prototype images you would be perfectly happy with the paintjob here.
      Secondly, actual mass produced models always have colour differentiation from the prototype/ release images, because often these have been individually and meticulously painted by the artist. The mass produced figures have to be painted more quickly and by a bigger pool of people, so you will not have the same degree of complexity as a prototype when the artist has the time to paint just one the very best way he can.
      Also, if we did get the actual prototype image paintjob, it would cost so much that it would be prohibitive for most people. Even expensive statues like the Sideshow Dinosauria line never had actual statues looking the same as the prototypes, and there ones cost anywhere from $300 and up.
      Give it a try, or wait to see if someone else has a different colour, that pleases you more. Individual models do vary!
