Love both shows. Just wish they would both go on tour again, as I missed seeing both due to cancellations during Covid. ❤❤
I love how both Openings fit the vibe of their shows like Phantom very much opens as a Ghost Story.
People always wonder about the Auction scene and how it seems a bit redundant other then to set up the rising of the Chandelier spectacle, but every good Ghost Story needs the ‘it was a dark and stormy night’ moment to set the mood of the story, and that’s where the Auction scene comes into play by bringing up ‘the strange affair of The Phantom of the Opera’ before the Overture kicks in and sucks us into this story.
In Love Never Dies the melody is haunting and sad but with a undercurrent of hope, indicating where the Phantom is at this point in his life, he’s gained all of this success but is dead inside without Christine…yet their is hope, he might yet hear her once more ❤ Interestingly, we hear this same melody come back when the Phantom finds out Gustave is his son “from out of ugliness such light…” etc.
Gustave will be that hope for the Phantom, not just the physical proof that Christine loved him, but that Gustave will be his reason to go on living, his ‘saving grace’ after what happens to her the end of the story 😢

the stage in Vegas- where it belongs❤❤❤)!!! I wish we could watch the full version of POTO w/ Ramin & Sierra here again, too❤❤❤.
It kinda blows my mind that they built a whole building for Phantom in Vegas only for it to leave a few short years later? 🤨 It’s like why did they go to such trouble designing a building especially for it then?
@@BookRose-rk1rv I know, right?! They built out that beautiful theater- & that chandelier- like u said- just to cancel the show a few short years later??! I'll never understand it- & I'l never forget that show- truly the best thing I will ever experience!!!
I think both shows are great, probably the best musicals ever composed. Just cannot understand why "Love Never Dies" was not a bigger succes. It should show in theatres again. So many unforgettable songs there as well. It was performed in Finland in our National Opera House as a concert version for just a fortnight.
I saw Phantom at least 6 times over the years.

Hate the changes they made in the Australian production of Love Never Dies - much preferred the original London production with Ramin and Sierra.
What changes do you hate?
I ask this because I am someone who also prefers the London version as well…mainly because of Ramin and Sierra’s explosive chemistry, and I feel they cut way too much out in the Australian Version.
However I did like how at the end Gustave takes off his mask and the Phantom sings a few lines of Love Never Dies to him..l thought that was a good change.
I prefer the Australian version of 'Love Never Dies' but everybody is entitled to their own opinion. I also preferred the original version of 'The Phantom' with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman.
Love Never Dies is like Machete 2. It never happened! Lost and gone…
I loved Andrew Lloyd Weber's music, but never connected to "Phantom." Even the song " love never dies' was not convincing- it's more an obsession, and he wants her more for her voice to sing his music.
