New Zealand needed this series keep it up ❤
"If you're not doing something constructive, you're doing something destructive"
Great message.
I see this as an eye opener to reverse cycles. I was born & raised in Otara, my whole life. I moved to Australia at the age of 21.
I seen so much violence and crime growing up in otara and thought that was a normal way of living. I knew in my heart it was bad, but I was exposed to it. When I’m in front of a healthy way of living, like no violence or crime, I use to not know how to act because I wasn’t use to love and healthy living. When I hear these people’s stories it makes me want to do better and I have the opportunity to, so I’m going to take advantage of it . Thank you for this video. On to better things
You’re a woman too?
Thanks for the memories. I was a skinny little white boy from Australia who grew up with Māori stepdad in Auckland in the seventies. He had lots of family in Otara . Spent a fare bit of thin there at his mums and with my cousins. Lots of fond memories. Chur from Queensland Australia. 🤙
Chur Brother ✌

Amen bro Amen
This is reality for most South aucklanders Otara is no different, I've lived in Auckland most of my life but seeing this is truly an eye opener, I don't see what most 'outsiders' see but when it's shown like this it really brings it home of how most Poly families live yet they remain proud ... alot of talent has come out of these places yet we can see how desolate these places are yet they triumph & it's due to the people's determination & pure love for where they come from & for that I'm sad but immensely proud of the people❤❤❤
how this a eye opener go to latin america make these places look like paradise even Sydney to
@@evoids ... to make comparisons when in different countries makes your opinion on my comment is rather 'insensitive', I'm speaking 4 my country & what I see, this is not a 'popularity contest' to see "who has the biggest bragging rights" or who's country is the "most hardened" or who 'gets the most brownie points' ... I was not judging but merely making a comment BCOZ I LIVE HERE & this is my/our reality NOT YOURS so please don't make assumptions on 'how can this be eye opener' when you don't have any idea about my/our country THANK YOU (Not dissing/hating just my opinion ok)🙏🙏
Love your kaupapa my brother I understand you
Why are you even commenting obviously you HAVE NOT heard or received the message related to this story/podcast our I repeat OUR COUNTRY AOTEAROA 💯💯💯💯❤❤❤❤
@@bernadettetai5122 if it's so good why do you all move to Australia 😂
This brought back so many memories 😌 fleamarket, Bairds Rd, Sandbrook Ave, Wymondley, kirikiti/league at Ngati Otara Park, Dawson, ETS, GWAYS, Snakeway 🤣, Flatbush, rec centre & pools, chicken & taro from the bakeries at 5-6am 🤤, Chatters Laundromat, bingo at Lady Siotara, polyfest (borderline Manukau but meh lol), Clover Park vs Ferguson, Tangaroa vs Hillary, the creek/s 😂, “sample boss” Velvet Cres - IYKYK, Win’s Diner, rugby games at ETRC, socials at ET Community Hall 😆, Matāfaga 👀, giant slide & bball games at Otamariki Park … list goes on. Otara will always be home. 274EVA 🤟🏼

Bro OMC!!! OMG!! I just can’t believe it. It’s like a path of reckoning for me since that was my favorite childhood number and now I’m in South Auckland listening to this revelation!
Mount Druitt: Yeah im pretty hood
Otara: hold my taro dox
Bahaha mt druitt ain’t hood
I grew up in Otara and now close to Mt Druitt - both are hood in their own ways
naaah, people from mt druitt aren't escaping to come to Otara, its the other way around .@@bp792

Onefour have roots in Otara and Samoa 🇼🇸
Born n raised in this hood and now I serve the Lord

I really like New Zealand people. They are laid back, calmer and nicer then a lot of Australians.
The Country is just more chilled.Australia is uptight, everything has a rule or law attached to it.Penalties for so many things.New Zealand seems to let people be a lot more.Better adventures too❤
As a kiwi I have found a lot of Australians to be openly hostile to anyone that doesnt possess their unique twang. There are always exceptions to the rule though 😊 Queenslanders tend to be great folk.
Love the vids bro. Keep it up, you're getting much deserved attention on the platform and thanks for showing the world parts of New Zealand too many people are ashamed of. God Bless your journey brother
From a kiwi who grew up in south Auckland ( rewa) now living in Australia ( longtime now) loving these videos,
I’ve done ok for myself in Aus and very grateful for that, but will always have a big soft spot for the people of south Auckland
Yassss!!!! This right here 🤙🏾

Lived in Otara as a youngster on Ferguson Rd lived with my grandparents for awhile early 90s I came from the deep south of the sth island I attended Dawson primary for a bit and tbh coming from what I knew as a norm and living in Otara was a real eye opener even as a 11 year old at the time their norm was my wtf? Getting jumped for my 20 cents for street fighter seeing kids walkto school in bare feet and pissing down with rain was all new to me we didn't stay long we moved back to the deep south but far out I always imagined what my life would've of been if we stayed on in Otara coz even in the South I was no angel shot for the watch bro big solid shout to you for your content God Bless you brother
Back when I lived there-it was the land of the Storm Troopers
you must be pretty old
Hard it was now it seems like tribesmen
Bruh the samoan guy i worked with is 65 years old now and he was a kid under the storm trooppers back in the day😂😂

The place is where legends are maid
When working on the roads we would always try to stop at the Otara town centre for lunch break. The cheapest lunch bars for pies & Fried chicken in Auckland. 👍
Good to see the old neighborhood. Pearl baker brings back childhood memories. There was lots of challenging issues, but there was also lots of amazing things happening in the community, the place was alive and the heart of the hood beats strong.
Keep shedding light on the real aotearoa brother Dave.
God bless 🙌🏿 🙏🏿
Awesome to see Otara, from Yendarra kindergarten, Yendarra Primary, Ferguson Intermediate and Tangaroa College. Plus go to school with Vinny, and many more. Otara is where the heart is.... Thanks for the vid!!!

Bro, love your work! My Wife's a paramedic and a bunch of the infant death is co sleeping. Co sleeping makes sense emotionally but the risk is smothering your all and everything. My heart goes out to all
Hearing that young fella talking about Vern Wilson was a bpast from the past. I remember him when he played at the Magpies. Also Andy Pereira ex La Salle. Good winger and great person.
Love my home| love my people! Thank you for sharing this. Niue hosts, represent!!!

Too much my brother. Loving it. God bless you bro. 275 for life
Seen a lot of comments here comparing hoods like it’s a competition 🤦🏽♂️ must be kids lol but tbh been and seen a lot of low social economic areas in nz south aucks, flaxmere, porirua and in Aus claymore, mounty, Logan, Inala and one things for sure they are all hoods 💯💯 good to have pride in where your from but not arrogance!
Karlos is cool Mr Sicc hes very loyal to his city big ups to Ngati Otara Iwi for doing something positive & all the different hoods that make up a very multicultural city to be fair that is a true reflection of Tamaki Auckland city as a whole.
The best musician's come from Otara south Auckland 274 hood❤lots of talent takes off here.
Big facts! So much hidden talent in Otara
this has got to be the best video and the one in rewa. You got some REAL OGs speaking and its great to see their lives have changed positively.

Seki Dave, and all the locals still in the hood, giving back to the hood. Churchbois Vinny & Karl, Sully great to see you guys doing your thing. Otara the safest place in the world. Great place, great peoples, great schools, churches and sports clubs. So many kiwi legends come out this town. My family still reside there, no place like home... Otara 0274. So many vehicles on the streets these days, we use to walk everywhere.
Yeah it's only safe during the day though 😄 you have to keep looking over your shoulder during the night
Best podcast around. Making Nz proud my brother, proud to be South Auckland always forever! Home 😎🙏
Thanks for the tour King Dave, keeping it real. g’day Otara sending love from Perth Oz
Home of the brave, let's roll...💪🏾😎
🎙🎼I take a skull of da brew n watch my day begin.. RIP FaceKilla🕊🕊
This was a dope walk through brother. So much history.
Love these vlogs bro, keep em coming!
Otara, Manurewa, Mangere parts of West Auckland, Otahuhu all very similar. Lots of good people live in these areas and lots of hoha people as well. At the end of the day, as someone who grew up in South Auckland, I feel safer walking those streets than anywhere else. Otara market was the bomb growing up and visiting on Saturdays.
South Auckland has a problem with takeaway shops, loan shark places, alcohol all being within walking distance of each other. Go to a more aflluent area of Auckland, and you will not see a loan shark place, or takeaway shops. I wonder why that is?
🎯🎯🎯
Yes 👍🏻 so true. Especially the takeaways.
Finally! Grew up on Capstick Road/Ferguson (3 min walk from Crown Cres iykyk) 274 🦂🇨🇵
Holy!!! 60A Cobham here 😂
@@Maaardie good ol Cobham hahaha my aunt lived on Nola Ave.
@@spaea2062 Oooosh!!! My grandparents lived at Cobham for over 20yrs. It wouldn't surprise me if they knew each other depending on the times hehe.
What I love seeing as a kid who grew up western Sydney where there’d be islanders and Māoris and got into the graffiti scene-Was the nz straight letter graffiti in our areas. Done with the fat caps and flares. That was the first style I’d get my friends to teach me.
Home of the brave !!! Loved it
Church Bois! Chur. I remember meeting you guys at Festival One a few years back.
I've been listening to your podcast fron the start bro. Keep up Gods work Salute bro.
Back with more quality content bro . God bless you and your team

Shot bro. Was good to my hood. I married my wife who lived on Dawson road. I stayed in tindall crescent. Not all was bad for me. If you wanted change the opportunity to develop. Yes we were poor but the love of your family and hood kept you safe. Look forward to the next video.
“Our social media was the liquor shop” lol. The good ol’days.
Big up fellas, keep doin your thing Dave 🤙
Yooooo I used to live on Lawrence Place just at the top of Velvet. Sully was the man! All us kids on the block used to go down and ask him for bikes so we can roam around the hood! Some of my best memories are in Otara! ❤ HOTB

Maori People. You have respect from Me!
I'm Aussie raised with the fobs from the 90s, while in government housing. Them brothers would rip someone's head off, protecting me. So many times got me outta the shit. So many stories. for some reason I felt at home with Maori people, more then I did my own Aussies.
Amen, in Highschool they were the only fellas with enough balls to watch my back in a fight.
Most of them are fearless.
