Car looks beautiful, you've been inspiring to keep my STI running despite it being 19 years old at this point. Thanks for all your videos
almost 16k in, your labor should not be cheap since you're a PRO, labor wise around 7-8k maybe a bit more, you're touching now 24k..if you sell it you'll break even. I'd say keep it if you can, it is a beautiful car not done anymore and you're 100% you did an awesome job.
I want to know how he got his paint job for 50% off? $550 for both the front and rear bumpers? Outrageous!
🫨😮😂
I don't think you should sell it cheap. They don't make them anymore! They will only go up in value
There is rumours they are bring the sti back,
@@iristan4917yeah, it’s called the GR Corolla.
@@iristan4917yes, you are correct but unfortunately SOA will be heavily marketing their new STi as “race car” EV. 😢
@@fredastaire6156 EV is not going away regardless, not saying it's great.
I have a 19 with 32 thousand miles. I could have sold it when the market was crazy. We’re going lose cars like this tho, these new laws basically pushing electric cars. The price is significantly gonna rise in a couple years.
I think you’ll still come out on top with this. If you were in it totally for profit you wouldn’t have went above and beyond on the add-ons/upgrades. Good luck with the sale, after years of beating my head against the wall selling on marketplace I totally get why you priced it where you did.
Looks great! With all that work, I thought for sure that you were planning to keep it!
I’ve had my fun with it for a month. Just bought a new farm truck Friday. Need it. The STi is a fun toy, not a necessity. Lol
Koyorad over mishimoto also on my 2006 stock sti with spt add ons. 71 retired lineman diyer. Pita po302 troubleshooting
You got a good deal for sure. Don’t give it away. Your labor is not free. Nice honest car.
you did a wonderful job on the STI Mr. Subaru, it looks fantastic and is worth any price your asking 👍
Nice! And really, of that, almost $500 is normal maintenance items...belts, hoses, etc. So not only will someone get a sweet ride, but will also be all up to date on those maintenance items to help keep her on the road a long time. Enjoyed this project and I think financially, you came out well!
The car looks amazing! It should sell for more because of the RA and S209 part. The next owner will be lucky with all the hard work you put into the car
Great job. I would have skipped the larger wheels and saved the $800. Also, black shiny plastic is the worst. It looks nice when you get it, but it shows dirt, fingerprints and scratches very easily.
You did great! We gotta start saving the STI, now that subaru has lost there way.
100%! Preserving endangered species!
Same as Mitsubishi evolution
we will have to find another way...lol
Looks fantastic. I really like how you documented the process. The steps.
Enjoyed watching the videos of you working on the car. Someone is going to get a really nice car.
Car looks amazing mate. Great job well done!
Awesome video. Love the STI.
Great job on this rebuild! Thanks for sharing on where you got the steering wheel. Been looking for it!
You did an amazing job restoring this car and it looks so unique with the S209 parts you put on it! Very tastefully put together. I wish you were keeping this car cuz it’s so badass, but hopefully the next owner appreciates it and takes care of it as much as you do!
Great series !
Looks great, very nice job!
GREAT DEAL!!!
Probably still a good deal for the next buyer.
Well done! Very nicely done. Hope you get a good price for it. When you are doing things yourself, sometimes, labor is not really labor if you are learning. Next project! 🙂👍
Great job man! Now you got us wanting to buy this thing lol but I already got a new Forester.. I’d otherwise jump on this. GLWS!
Looks great, man. This car would be a steal for someone looking for a clean STI.
Heck! I wish I could buy it. I think being that it’s from Mr Subaru would be so cool and I would know that it was maintained well
Beautiful car! Great job! You got a great deal 👌
Awesome job with this car!!
She looks great in person.........a great project..........best on the sale.
Nice work!
Nice work. Someone will have a great car.👍
nice work! It's more than about the deal - you're providing valuable recycling here. Costs WAY less in environmental impact too than to manufacture a replacement. I'd buy it but I already have a 2017 STI :)... - looks great and really enjoyed the video series.
It was awesome series ❤. Thx
Seems like a great investment to me...made even better because you're able to do most of the work yourself...if someone had to pay for all of that labor - not such a good deal.
A great video brother. I'm going to keep my 2020 WRX/STI forever lord willing. I just hit 64K thus week. Take care. Subies forever.
Nice car, wish they weren't so expensive 😢
Good content idea.
Now I know what kind of car to fix up and not lose my shirt.
Excellent job on the STI, and make some money, man.
He didn't account for his time, which is a huge oversight when he does these breakdown videos. If he had applied an hourly rate to the project, chances are there's no money to be made here.
His time plus being a master Subaru technician
I would definitely consider putting in an offer if I was in the market for a vehicle like that but I thoroughly enjoyed the series nonetheless. Someone is going to get a really nice vehicle.
Too late boys, Minnie Pearl is MINE! Thank you again Mr. Subaru!!
🤣🤣
No CEL? Mr. Subaru, you aren't driving it hard enough!
🤣👍
Awesome video! Very similar to me, I bought a 06 STi back in 2020 for 10k. Long story short it need a lot of work. My cost when it was all said and done was almost 16k. Its been 4 years and shes still running strong.
Very nice job, don't sell cheap -- your labor is quality.
Wish I was in the market for an STI, keep rebuilding these wrecks for when I am so I can get one myself 😅
Sweet Ride 👍 Good luck with selling it to someone who will appreciate the hard work it takes to get one that nice.
I think you did it right, go and make some money. You have the knowledge and the ability to do this job, I've been following this, looks like you did a good job. I enjoyed it.
I live in Wyoming and already have a 2019 WRX, but yours looks fabulous. Mine is primo, but plain as Subaru makes 'em.
Some of you have misunderstood.
This video isn't meant to show how much YOU will spend to purchase and rebuild an STI. It shows how much HE spent.
Obviously there are a lot of things here that would be hard to replicate for the average person.
1. Finding a totaled but clean title STI for cheap (let's not pretend - it was totaled, the title just doesn't say it)
2. Having a trailer/truck to bring the car home
3. Having a nice/warm place to work on the car that isn't your slanted driveway or apartment complex parking lot
4. Having the knowledge, experience, and confidence to take on this project in general
5. Having access to the tools/people/shops needed to do this work (or support you when you hit a snag or can't do something)
6. Getting good deals on things you can't do (i.e. painting front and back bumpers for $550 - that's absurdly low.)
I could go on, but you get the point.
Great looking car.
Hell of a good job man. All that work was worth it. If you're looking to sell it, even with the wreck, you could ask a good amount. Even STIs that are highly modified are going for $30k+. This being a clean title and stock (stock is always better kids) with just body changes $20k is a very reasonable ask.
You need to get a dealer/wholesale license to find good one’s at auctions. Good seeing you around CCF every now and again. Blessings brother
STI went up in value since they aren't making them anymore. Pretty sure a decent shape running example is $20k-$32k depending on mileage for 2015 an up.
I would have aimed for spending about the same amount as the original price, but 7k+8k isn't too bad. If you can get at least 20k for it, that's a 30% return. (although that return doesn't include the cost of your labour). Overall it has turned out a great looking car.
Please do video on installing longer wheel studs
That is a good looking car. All the upgrades are reasonable and factory parts. Hopefully the cost of extra parts not needed gets recouped.
1st looks good, but I’m jelly.
Great deal
The repaired soo-bar-oooo. Wow
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!
Lovely vehicle and great work.. only you could do this, anyone else would be crucified with labour costs.. labour with parts would mean selling it at cost without any profit .. I do think the purchase price for the wreck was a bit high..
Certainly look forward to another donor vehicle rebuild...
Dirty?! Ha. Looks great. Fun to watch.
You are fine, i.e. flush. Good show.
would love to own one of these
I would keep-it myself. But that’s me. 😊
I thinks you had a sound deal. As long as there was not engine damage/ trans damage from the impact.
Excellent dude
What do you think of the Ascent?
You did good. Though not a fan of alca steering wheel
car looks good, only issue is the bumpers do not match at all. pearl white is a pain to match but still could be closer.
love everything BUT adding piano black trim heh
Only matters if it’s worth your time.
Great project. nice car when done. You have to look at the profit margin of jobs you on deffered while you were doing this one also to see what hourly rate comes out to for it. I have a gut feeling this is not a big profit when all is said and done. Depends if you get $30k for it like high prices online.
Obviously you do this for a living so you want to make money but were you tempted to keep it? Its such a cool car. Amazing work restoring it!
Best channel Mr subaru
I have 2013 legacy I got overheating a few times I realized the radiator fans don't start unless the heat or AC is on
Any idea about the issue
How much would you say labour cost? I believe it's important to say
You did a hell of a job man. I don't think you'll lose money on it at all. Pricing it high is smart because you know those mfs with 3 brain cells will blow up your dms. You could ask higher than $20k even with the wreck because even highly modified are going for stupid prices.
Not to mention it’s a southern car, which makes it more desirable for us Northerners.
Beautiful car, I would keep it - turbo & manual 😎 Sell it for a good price, such a good car, I'd be in tears selling it 😅
Its a brand new car again! its gonna sell FAST !
MrSubaru what would you recommend for a full maintainance of a 2008 Forester with 198,000 miles. It used, as far as l can tell, 1/2qt oil in the last 3000mile oil change just running locally 45-55mph. I can smell a bit of antifreeze when I get to Walmart, about 20 miles l added less than a qt. maybe a pint of antifreeze at oil change.
"Clean title" 🙂
It is, soooo…. lol
Nice!! I hope that you left plenty of a buffer to pay for your labor.
I rarely ever pay myself. lol 😂
@@MrSubaru1387 My interest in the gray Legacy prevents me from pushing too hard in favor of your profit margin. 🙃
I really want to buy a used Impreza Hatchback with either a 6-speed manual or preferably an automatic transmission. The big holdback is the cylinder head problem. Which year did they start putting in the proper head gaskets? Is there a big difference between the 2.0 and 2.5 or the turbo cars as far as reliability? I'm retired and want to avoid the major design problems.
A good deal.
Q: what oil cools down the wet clutch for the diff btw rear and front axles? Is that the same oil as CVT, trans or engine?
Please feel free to rephrase my question.
Man i really need to mow my lawn...
I guess the final sale price will determine what you reimbursement for your hours spent.
I pulled my 09 forester motor to do head-gaskets.. I’ve resurfaced the heads and bought the “turbo model”MLS Gaskets. The block is not warped. I’ve done the correct process to put the heads back on but oil from inserting the bolts back in must’ve gotten between the gasket and head/block before torque because after fully torqued I noticed it squeezed a little of that clean oil out where the gasket is. DO I NEED to pull those off and redo the process carefully with less oil on the bolts?
I think you made a good deal. How much are you asking?
You did good you know that...28k...they don't make them no more...west coast pricing
@mrsubaru1387 I have a 2014 forester that the catalytic converter is going out. Do I have to replace it with a factory cat in order to get rid of the check engine light?
Where did you order the Type RA bumper from? Also, that's a great deal! You'll be getting way more than $20,000. That's, at least, a $25,000 car.
What I’m hoping for. Bought it from the local Subaru dealer parts department.
I ran into an issue when doing the 2018 STi Front Bumper conversion on my 2016 STi. Now my climate control temperature is erratic. Sometimes when I have the heat at 80 and I turn it down to let's say 62, the air coming out feels as if it's still on 80. Only way to have cool air come out is if I turn temperature all the way to LO setting. I didn't hook up any fog lights when I didn't the conversion. Do you think the unplugged fog lights/harness might have thrown something electrical off that's affecting my climate control temperature? I can't think of anything else. It started after the conversion was done. Thanks
Clean title lol
I mean, it is. Soooo….
Just bought an owners manual on eBay 😅mine never had one
Does that paint match in person?
I feel that's a bit of a crazy amount to have invested to fix this up, but damn, if they're worth that much, then i guess it's not so crazy. Ecologically good to repair and keep it on the road, too.
I think my takeaway is that I'm envious and wish i had the resources to throw around for a project (or projects) like this. Some of the labor seems a bit intimidating - mostly the body work - but i don't see why i also couldn't do this with my skills and tools.
Are you still working in a dealership as primary income? If i may ask.
You did a great job but the paint shop didn’t come close to a match on the bumpers. They didn’t do you right.
I need to get a part number for that fuse to coin box holder for my 2023 outback that I pick up this week. If anybody has an idea of that part number, please shoot me a message. Thank you
If you don’t count your time and apply some value to it this isn’t accurate. How much do you make per hour and how many hours do you have in it?
Just curious but why asin for the belt kit? I thought they had changed manufacturers and that it was just a gates belt now
Can you make a video of you doing some pulls
Car sold 24 hrs after this video. Lol
7k is a new sti trans, well done. So you dont enjoy driving it? you could have swapped it into your favorite outback! maybe you find anothe totaled one and swap it into an outback. I just put a junk yard 03 wrx trans in my BG outback and it just blew. So now im looking to ge t a spec b legacy trans.
I like the car. Just I’ve had a month of fun with it and it’s time to move on. I bought a new to me truck Friday, so time to move on.
@@MrSubaru1387 I remember back when you bought and owned your VA WRX. I also understand why got rid of it too. My GF hated to ride in the 21 Sti. Part of me does wish I would have kept the car. Great job on fixing this one up.
Hello,
I apologize for bringing up this question to you. I recently purchased a 2023 WRX. I got bored and started to browse around the internet. I just found out that there is a PN difference between 22-24 Base and other models.
Base Model:
32000AK580 (TY751V6BCB)
Premium/Limited/TR:
32000AK570 (TY751V6BCA)
I have a Premium model and confirmed through the ID plates that I have the 570 (BCA). I just got curious.
I sent this question to SOA, but said to contact local dealer. So far, none of the dealers here in the US is willing to answer the question.
Just trying to know the specifics/differences between the 2 transmission.
I was wondering if your parts department will be able to tell the differences or parts access will be able to tell the difference between the two.
Thanks in advance
