26. "Michael Keaton"
27. "Douchebag"
28. Wow! A Shout out to me from Pete. The answer to your question: I only watch the show once, but I pause and rewind often as I take down notes. An hour show will take me about an hour and a half to watch. 2 hour shows are brutal now that I am back working...but I can't let you down, lol.
As for the topic:
1. The only song by Led Zeppelin that I never cared for was "The Battle Of Evermore" 2. The Exodus song I do not care for is their cover of "Low Rider"
Finally, I love Rush but only listen to their first 10 albums. The one song on those 10 albums that I don't care for will surprise most peoplw- its "Fly By Night" I don't hate it, I just don't care for it and will sometimes skip over it.
Michael, minus some months I missed due to personal problems in last 4 or so years, saw every show. But, this here is straight up a DIFFERENT level of dedication. I commend you !!👍💯
you forgot "I don't care" by Craig (rainbow eyes)
These are quotes. A take away from this show is that Craig is a giddy school girl when it comes to Kiss Unmasked but he wants to slash his throat over Dio singing like a girl lol! Epic beatdown from Chris Alo over that shit lol!
@@patriotpizzaman I love Dio, just not that song. And yes, I have a soft spot for Kiss Unmasked 😁though "giddy as a school girl" is a bit of a stretch lol
I never knew about these follow up lists/reviews by Michael! Love it! Keep the content coming 🤘
If you want to add another layer you could time stamp too 😬
I absolutely love "Rainbow Eyes", but Craig's rant was priceless! 😂
I agree…I love Rainbow Eyes too. Guess Craig feels otherwise😆
It’s the softy on the album. I like the novelty of it but I can see where someone like Craig is coming from.
Rainbow Eyes is a beautiful song. To each his own.
I love Rainbow Eyes. If you hate that you probably will hate most of the first album also.
Great song. One of my favorite Rainbow ballads....calls Ronnie singing like a chick?! crazy
1:07:52 If this show was a 1980s sit-com on TV, Chris Alo is one those characters where the audience applauds as soon as he comes on set...
You are FAR too kind, thank you Michael.
This is one of the funniest Hudson Valley Squares show ever.
This show (and channel) deserves to be way more popular than it is. This was a great one.
All the other channels I subscribe to of this nature say that Pete's the man. I tend to think of SOT as Kellogg's Corn Flakes and the others as supermarket own brand.
I love this channel and this series. I don't watch every episode because sometimes the topics just aren't something that interest me, but I love listening to people who are so knowledgeable and passionate about music just banter back and forth like this, I wish I knew more music fans like this in person, but sadly I don't.
When Pete mentions 'Is this love" and you see Sidney's heart break lol
It probably would've been better if Tina Turner HAD agreed to record it (David Coverdale originally offered it to her).
yeah my ears broke the first time I heard that song
I look forward to the Hudson Valley Squares every week. It's become one of my favourite shows :) Another great show. Thank you!
Kiss- Great Expectations yet nobody’s gonna mention Lyrics being that Gene Simmons is such an egotistical prick lol 😂 The song was about himself banging those 14yr. old Geishas in Tokyo which then was kept totally hush 🤐 hush; and no mention of pedophilia..? I agree with C. although you’re missing the point where what he’s talking about is “Anybody’s lucky 🍀 to be with this sick fuck! Ace Frehley IS Kiss 💋 face it guys and Sydney (?) In all honesty. Listen to the song and then perhaps you’ll get his message about himself. Agreed.? Sincerely yours truly again ❤️ David J Goldbaum Boston Massachusetts 02134 USA 🇷🇺 🇨🇳 Amerikkka...Jesus Christ almighty please help US
I had a really crappy work day today, but at least I'll go to sleep happy having watched this episode. Holy shit this was funny and the picks were awesome. Thanks everyone, see ya on the next one!
Great show. All of the co- hosts. Chris ALO in HOF for pure laughs” LMAO. 👍💯
We need Jamie and Chris to be in every Hudson Valley Squares.
Chris usually is, but not Jamie, however, I agree.
I actually thought Craig stole the show as well. "Turd sandwich between buns of steel" lol
Craig was amazing this time around!
This was like a classic Marx Brothers bit. Brilliant.
Yesss! 🤣🤘
Great show. Gotta bring the topic to Prog Seat too!
Yep!!
That was the best episode in a while! Super quotable! The episodes talking about things you guys don't like are probably the best cause they lead to such priceless rants!
Everyone was on fire tonight! Some of the songs picked I happen to love, but that's cool - you all had me laughing SO hard... and I do mean every single person on the panel!
Fantastic episode!!!
Great to see you back Sydney! Loving metal from the inside!
Love Changes, She's Gone, Shandi and Is This Love, all great ballads. However I still enjoyed the episode.
An Epic Episode....just when some good laughs were needed comes the Hudson Valley Squares with the sing-along turdburger episode. Cannot thank all of you enough for your time and sharing some of your least favorites with us but a special shout-out has to be given to the Oedipal therapy session where Chris Alo becomes the therapist for Jamie Lazlo. Will be laughing about that for days. And if the time ever comes when someone makes a show of the best of the HSV, there is no doubt that everyone on this show will have an excerpt included from this episode. Thanks again.
This might have been the funniest episode in the history of the Hudson Valley Squares! Chris and Craig are hilarious!!!
You have to give Jamie props for his.. props!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks ! 😁
Agreed. This was a top 5 episode from the squares for sure.
@@robertdendooven7258 Jamie is kinda like a stand up comedian - he has props and bits and all sorts of material. Chris and Craig are just naturals! Everything they say is funny! 😂😂😂
Really good one for sure, I hope some of these guys who aren't regulars for HVS come back in the future!
Thank you Pete and every one of the guests you made our evening together, so entertaing :)
Greatshow as always guys and lady. Good to see you back Ryan!
Such a fun episode as usual for the HVS!!!! Lots of laughs with this one and highly entertaining. Will miss not having it next Monday but look forward to the triumphant return!!
I have a soft spot in my heart for Dio ballads. Say what you will about how ferocious Ronnie's voice was, he had an unparralled tenderness to his voice that I've always loved. I remember trying to get one of my girlfriends, whose heaviest favorite band was Jethro Tull "Songs From The Wood" era, to admit that Metal was as intellectually stimulating as whatever classical or jazz album she was spinning at the time. I played her a Dio song and she said he had a feminine voice. I was a little shocked to agree with her but, it's that tenderness he evoked with some of the softer phrases in songs like "All The Fools Sailed Away", "Don't Talk To Strangers" (I'm pretty sure it was one of those songs she commented on) and of course the ballads he did like "Rainbow Eyes" and "Catch The Rainbow".
Yeah, call me a softy or whatever but for me that is one of the very best things about Dio's voice.
I love the Dio ballads too and Rainbow Eyes. It provides a balance to Long Live Rock and Roll. Mellowness after all of the Hard Rock music mayhem before. It also shows that he's not one dimensional. He did do the Doo Wop, Crooning, and Boogie Woogie in the past also.
@@dmacnic agreed! As I said, the softer side of deer is one of my favorite things about him. I love stuff like the quiet versus of last in line, too late from dehumanizer, opening of don't talk to strangers, etc.
Brilliant show as ever. Just as little sad that I've caught up with the past shows. The channel shouls be massive, get recommending it folks. Chris=legend
Great show. Chris Alho being the Ace that he always is! Sydney is always great. Ryan keeps you guessing where you will end up at a show. Basements. Alleys. I love it.
Variety IS the spice of life after all! 😜
Just another great episode. Thanks to everyone.
Great topic, and especially great episode! It was hilarious. Chris Alo delivered like he always does, and Craig was also extremely hilarious.
I have to say that was my favourite episode of the Hudson valley squares, keep up the good work guys
These are always fun shows, always interesting to hear the crew shredding, but to hammer bands they love makes it even better.
Maiden Math got me in stitches 😂
Take a bow lady and gents. The best entertainment for a long time. I will be watching this again next week to fill the gap during an HVS free week. Thank you all, it was brilliant.
Rainbow Eyes is a Masterpiece.
Glad to see Syd back❤🔥 Monday night must see TV always KILLER
I can't put my finger on it but you guys caught lightning in a bottle with that episode.Very enjoyable.
It was nice to see the Squares get back with an interesting show this week. It’s just my thing, but I’m not a big fan of the album war shows. Would have been great if Butch could have been on tonight.
As far as song we hate from bands we love…
1. Rush - “Tai Shan” from Hold Your Fire. Rush is my favorite band of all time, but this song that was inspired by Neil Peart’s bike ride around China was terrible. “When China sang to me”…Too much syrup here.
2. Rolling Stones - “Harlem Shuffle”. This cover could have put a nail in the Stones’ coffin back in ‘86, and I’m almost surprised it didn’t.
3. Boston - Pretty much every song on the “Walk On” album. I remember hearing “I Need Your Love” on the radio when I was in Japan, getting excited about a new Boston record, buying the thing at Tower Records in Osaka and…Wanting to throw the CD out when I realized Brad Delp wasn’t singing on it.
The video for Harlem Shuffle is pretty bad too.
I'm sure "turd between buns of steel" is one that's gonna go into the SoT lexicon.
I actually think “Rainbow Eyes” is a great song!!! Shows Ronnies vocal range. It reminds me a lot of a lot of early YES tunes. And even early Rush! …. Love when a band breaks it up! Miss you RJD!!
Craig is such a likeable and funny guy, and he brings an awesome positive energy to the panel!! I'd love to see him as a HVS mainstay!!
P.S. We miss you Butch!!!
Well, thank you! 😁
@@craigkaminski Great having you and I love that you do love the hair/glam metal and are not affraid to share your opinion!
Deep Purple is my favorite band and I love Rainbow 🌈. But I disagree I really like Rainbow Eyes. Really shows Ronnie’s versatility and range. He could sing the phone book and it would be epic. R.I.P. Ronnie.
Love it when Chris goes off leaving Pete gasping for air. Haaaa!
I used to really dislike "Changes". it was the one blight on what is also one of my favourite Sabbath albums (second only, perhaps, to Sabbath Bloody Sabbath). But then two things happened:
1. I went to see a friend's Sabbath tribute band for something like the dozenth time. They were playing in this bar. They brought their fans, but I'm sure most of the people in that place weren't hardcore Sabbath fans at all. i was always bugging them to play lesser known songs, and making fun of them for ending their sets with "Paranoid". Well, they decided to pull out "Changes". My friend, the bassist, was on keyboard. To my surprise, everyone in the place was singing along. It was a real warm, communal moment and I admit the whole thing softened my heart about the song. And then...
2. I heard Charles Bradley's cover of the song, and I realised what "Changes" is actually supposed to be. It's supposed to be a genuine soul tune. Sabbath is not a soul band; Ozzy is not a soul singer, and although it's a well-written song, it's maybe not executed on Sabbath quite in the way that brings it 100% to life and really makes you feel the real emotion in the piece. Mr. Bradley really brings it to life. I encourage anyone who is dubious about this song, or, hell, anyone who thinks it's actually a cool song already, to go listen to this cover. It may just change the way you think about "Changes" forever.
probably not Chris though! I think he might be immovable on this one.
@La Barba Azul68 yeah! It's like he fully understood what the song was supposed to be and brought it to its full potential. It's really fantastic!
Yep, agreed! Charles Bradley's cover is WAY better than the original!
I like changes okay enough but it drives me nuts when casual fans praise it so much. It's made even worse by the fact that Wheels of Confusion is just sitting there opening the album and is pretty much the greatest song of all time 🤣🤣 not to mention St Vitus Dance and fuckin Cornucopia
@@chrisalo2989 I love the original version with Black Sabbath. It´s one of the best soft ballads ever.
@@jimekberg No way
Since I have been listening to the squares, I've never heard everyone swear and be angry so much! Goddamn hilarious!
You must be from the mid west
This was one of the best HV episode, I can watch it over and over again.
Great episode! Loved the topic and awkwardness of bashing the favorite bands. Great humor, A+
Rainbow Eyes reminds me of the closing song on his heaviest Dio album, Angry Machines, called "This Is Your Life."
Time to rename HVS to "The Chris & Jamie Show!!" Neither guy disappoints ever. Jamie, I've always had a thing for Pat also. In fact she was my one and only music crush, so I know how you feel. How about the topic "Can't stand the band, but they played a great song by mistake" (Covers excluded)
Jamie - I with you on Pat Benetar! I’m down for a bit more than bedtime stories! Glad we got to talk about that here!
Come on Pete, Never Say Die ain't all bad. Few tastiest on there.
Love that Rainbow album. Never thought Gates of Babylon got enough love. IMO an awesome song. Enjoy it more than Stargazer.
Can we do a compilation of Alo's greatest hits from SOT? I am dying from laughter!
Alo!!!! How Dare You, Sir!!! ‘Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter’ is a majestic anthem. I love it!!! 😆
You can be wrong. Who would have thunk it?!?!?
I couldn't stop smiling during this episode. This was awesome! Thank you all!
1. Allman Brothers Band - "Never Knew How Much (I Needed You)"
2. Little Feat - "Wake Up Dreaming'"
3. Rush - "Need Some Love"
I love ABB but their 2 Arista albums are just horrible lol so I agree. Reach for the sky & Brothers of the road came out in 1980 and 1981 when they were all drugged up and unfocused which would lead them to break up 1981-1989. I love every ABB album and literally every song but to this day I’ve never had either of these 2 albums lol I don’t like 1 song on those lol
I gotta say, I love “Changes” - I’ve never understood all the hate.
It's mostly macho metal dudes who can't let themselves like the wimpy ballad. I like it too. FX would have been a way better pick
I love it too. It’s a precursor to songs like Goodbye to Romance which is beautiful!
I love it too!
Great song!
Me too, I really like it. I’ve never heard the version with Ozzy’s daughter and hopefully I never will.
Giggling, Dancing, Cursing And Ranting. Thank you guys and girl!!
1. Paradise Lost - Self-Obsessed
2. Genesis - Hold On My Heart
3. Iron Maiden - The Angel and the Gambler
The Angel And The Gambler was thr first one that came to my mind. My God that verse repeating for the 70th time...
If they just shortened it after the last verse by about 2mins it would be a great song.
2. Genesis - Invisible Touch 😳😩😒😕🥺
Good to see somebody mention Paradise Lost, although I like that song. Paradise Lost are my fave band, but I never liked Cry Out from The Plague Within. Sounds like a throwaway b-side.
Holy Shit!!!.....Absolutely the funniest episode ever. Wife and I laughing all the way through it. Funniest moments that stood out were " Paul Stanley touched you in a bad place", " In the pool looking for side boob" LOL!!! Oh man!!! The Maiden Math, not only funny, but fucking great!! Thank you guys so much. Great bits and great episode!
Zorros Ascent is a classic, in fact my two favourite Alice albums are Zipper Catches Skin and Constrictor and no I’m not joking and Rusty Angels is great too. One of the best songs from the underrated Forbidden
The Rolling Stones - Sex Drive
Neil Young - Computer Cowboy
Bob Dylan - Wiggle Wiggle
David Bowie - Day In Day Out
The Who - Athena
Craig is spot on with Great Expectations from Destroyer…it’s a major turd
Don’t you think I’m a savior
Don’t ya think I can save ya
Don’t ya think I can save your life
😵💫
And I love Kiss Unmasked. Underrated with great melodic songs.
Great show!
36:28 this makes me so happy. I need to come back to it every once in a while.
I wouldn’t say I love Def Leopard but I really do hate pour some sugar on me!
Yes, awful song.
That song is pure trash.
I imagine Chris has a few Rush songs he could nominate in this category based on previous comments (The Big Money or Time Stand Still?). As soon as he said Angel of Retribution it was obvious Loch Ness was coming, and it was a great rant.
Also, very cool to hear Genesis brought up and that Sidney saw them live.
OMG! Just listened to Rusty Angel and Pete, you are so right! In fact, I think the members of Dokken should sue for copyright infringement
This is the best episode of HVS to date. This panel really did well together and were really on the ball. Some other panel members, well not so much. As a huge Danzig fan, I was hoping Chris would choose him because I'm curious what his most hated song would be.
There's a lot to choose from after Danzig IV.
@@Jamie.Laszlo Yeah there has been some misfires from Glenn over the years. Some of that has to do with his production. The Blackacidevil album was widely hated but I enjoy it quite a bit. The worst albums to me are 6 and 7. Those records also have the weakest members. If I had to pick a song, I will say "East Indian Devil" from 6. But yeah there is some other cannon fodder to pick from. Great job on the show, it was a very entertaining video.
Scorpions - Winds of Chance
Van Halen - Why can't this be love and Panama
Judas Priest - Turbo Lover
Motley Crue - S.O.S., Home Sweet Home, and Smoking in the Boys Room
Rainbow - Stranded (around 500 times in the lyrics 😎)
And a lot of other cheesy ballads
Otto Waalkes (a famous german comedian) made a good parody of the whistling song "winds of change" in german television.
"I Am the Future" by Alice Cooper off of Zipper Catches Skin is so underrated. It was the main song for the horror/sci-fi movie called "Class of 1984." I'd check out the single or the soundtrack version.
The whole album is underrated
Awesome song, always loved it.
For me, 80's Alice Cooper is kind of like 80's KISS...I just don't care for it, with a few exceptions (the title track of "Lick It Up" is ok). Love both bands' 70's output, though. In my opinion, most of the great 70's bands put out subpar material in the 80's.
I always LOVE the shows that are about the *worst* or the things you/we *hate* . They are so much fun! I am trying to think of a similar idea for a future show, but you've done most of them. You could do something like "Albums/Songs by our favorite bands that are WEIRD, don't fit their catalog but we still like" or the opposite to today's show, like "Songs we absoluterly love from bands we *hate* " but I think this has been done before.
As for today's picks
I agree for "Quest for Fire". That's why I always put Powerslave over Piece of Mind.
"Rainbow Eyes", I don't hate that much.
"Changes" gets so much boring after a few listens, as does "Bring your Daughter"
"Big Balls", I don't really mind, but I get what Craig is saying.
I love "D'Yer Maker".
And Pete, your hatred for "Anyone's Daughter" is well documented and it makes sense, although I *love* the song. But it's not Deep Purple trying to be Bob Dylan. It's more like they got inspired by the classic british "Skiffle" style that was very popular in the UK in the 50's and 60's.
My picks
1) I never quite liked "Since I've Been Loving You" from Led Zeppelin. I always thought it was boring and very predictable. When I listen to the album I usually skip it.
2) I like "Load" by Metallica. I always thought that if it was any other band making it, it would've been hailed as a masterpiece. But I understand what a betrayal it was for all metal fans all over the world. But I still like it and revisit it a lot. But I can't *stand* "Mama Said". Metallica doing country and *not* as a joke, c'mon, that's a little bit too much even for the era.
I can't think of anything else right now.
Blackers hated "Anyone's Daughter" which I could never understand why, he's doing more 'folky' stuff himself these days with Blackmore's Night and always appreciated old acoustic music (even if he wouldn't admit it back in the day).
This was one of the funniest and most amazing THVS ever!! Thanks, guys!! :D
My picks on the heavy, hard rock/metal realm:
Black Sabbath - She's Gone (Changes very close, but She's Gone is even worse IMO)
Faith No More - RV
Motorhead - 1916 (symphonic sack of shit, lol)
Honorable mentions: Led Zeppelin - All My Love, Kiss - Shandi, Iron Maiden - (pulling the Catino here) From Here To Eternity tied with Bring Your Daughter...
BTW, I would love to see Chris Alo in the same show with Simon Bray. :)
Great prove by Jamie why The Angler and The Gambler sucks sooo much! Great Episode!
If I were to pick a band and a song, the band would be Led Zeppelin. I really enjoy every one of their songs, except for one ... Hat’s Off to Roy Harper. I always stop the CD before that song. When I had it on cassette tape, I’d hit fast forward.
I mostly like Zep III but I agree entirely. Hey Hey What Can I Do was right there. I wish Poor Tom was on Zep III too.
@@ChromeDestiny
I heard that Hats Off actually replaced hey hey what can I do at the last minute.
Totally agree on that! I am a huge Zeppelin fan, they're my favorite band ever, but I detest Hats Off to Roy Harper. I think what irks me the most is that dreadful vocal effect they put on Plant at the song's beginning- sounds like he's throwing up.
Who would have thought that a song called ‘Jerry Garcia’s Finger’ would not be a masterpiece.
Chaucer, Milton, Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Gillan.
the dinosaurs living with man thing in "Quest for Fire" is so obviously a reference to those old movies that had them living together. I think Raquel Welsch was in it. It's not a historical song, it's a movie song.
Ryan, I like Diabolus in Musica too. As for God Hates Us All, I do like a few songs off of it, such as, Disciple, God Send Death, Bloodline, Here Comes the Pain (one of their heaviest songs ever), and Payback. Also, Threshold isn't too bad. The album as a whole though tends to give me a headache, mostly due to Tom's incessant screaming which grates on the ears after a while.
F*cking ‘Tattoo’ by Van Halen. Just because I was so hyped for ADKOT when it came out; VH’s first full length album with DLR in almost 30 years. No Michael Anthony was a bit of a red flag to say the least, but I had seen Wolfy play live and knew he was talented… I was optimistic and willing to give him a chance. I imagined this album coming out and just blowing away all of the current pseudo “rock” bands out of the water, showing what real rock ‘n’ roll was all about. I was so excited when they dropped the first single ‘Tattoo’ along with the music video on UA-cam. I couldn’t wait to play it… and then I did… 🤦 I don’t think I had ever felt so much cringe listening to a song in my entire life. There was no hook. No punch. No drive. Dave’s vocals were shot, which made the non-existence of MA’s backing vocals that much more noticeable because it wasn’t there to help balance out Dave’s lack of range. Eddie sounded okay, but the song itself sounded over-produced and nowhere near as raw as the original albums. All-in-all it was just a bad and disappointing song that instantly killed the hype for the rest of that album, which is unfortunate because there are actual goods songs on it.
Tattoo is so bad its cringeworthy. Like you said Eddie was ok but save and those lyrics are atrocious.
God of Emptiness is 1 of my favorite songs. Got to burn some candles and summon some ghosts while playing the song. It's not a a song to mosh to , it's a meditation song. Another great song is Nile - To Dream of Ur , and Sarcophagus, Immolation - Burn With Jesus, and Vital Remains - Immortal Crusade are songs that I play to find myself, but I understand why the casual listener wouldn't relate to God of Emptiness, if they don't get into dark atmospheric songs, as opposed to bangers. Dimmu Borgir - Leppers Among Us is also an incredible experience
Altars of Madness is my favourite Morbid Angel album and I'm generally not into the kind of slow, sludgy (as in it sounds like you're struggling through sludge, not like the *genre* of sludge) MA tunes, but I do like "God of Emptiness" for the reasons you mentioned. i think it's a pretty effective way to close that album.
Cheers Squares. That was one of the funniest episodes ever! Between Craig, Jamie and Chris too funny. Craig was on a roll man. Symphonic Sack of Shit! My three favorite bands are Rush, Led Zeppelin and The Beatles.
Rush: Tai Shan is Tai Shit.
Led Zeppelin: Hats of to Roy Harper. I love Led Zeppelin III but man this song sucks. They should have included Hey Hey What Can I Do.
The Beatles- Revolution #9. They should have listened to George Martin.
Hats of to Roy harper is a strange song. I find that a lot of people don’t get it. To me it sounds like they were doing a pastiche of traditional blues music. They even recorded it so it sounds like a scratchy 1930s-1950s recording with Jimmy Page playing a bottleneck slide and echo/distortion on Plant’s voice. The lyrics are all quotes from old blues songs, Bukka White etc. Roy Harper’s music doesn’t sound like this. So I don’t understand the title or the inspiration for the song.
My pick would definitely be ‘Welcome to the Machine’ by Pink Floyd. Wish You Were Here (or any album from the Waters-Gilmour era for that matter) is absolutely stellar cover to cover!!…but the one Floyd song from that era that I never dug was Welcome to the Machine…
Thought Chris C. Was done , then "......DOUCHEBAG.". Almost fell on the treadmill I was using while watching this watching this . 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. The sheer fucking authority it was said with....fucking A , cheers to that !!
For Manowar, I am okay with the narration (even when I first heard it when Kings of Metal came out). On the masterpiece Triumph of Steel, I always skip Metal Warriors. I rarely skips songs on albums, but this one I always do. Very funny episode. It was great!
Tesla’s “Signs” is a great pick!
Since there will be no show next Monday just let Craig fill in as host and let him do a Rant show on songs that are turds between buns of steel along with songs that are symphonies of shit
Never Say Die has four great songs: Johnny Blade (the best song on the album), Shock Wave (the break down is REALLY heavy), Junior's Eyes, and Air Dance (ethereal and experimental).
Oh so you mean to tell me the title track and Hard Road aren’t great songs too? If you do then you’re wrong!
Totally agree.
Like Swinging the Chain too
Totally agree [2]
I love that album ,it´a masterpiece.
Great show again! I have lots, but I will mention just 3 too: Queen - I want to break free
Kiss - Then she kissed me
Van Halen - Big bad Bill.
Sydney nailed it with "Signs". I wanted to rip my hair out it was played so much.
"It hurts to play the blues, it shouldn't hurt to listen to the blues ". This reminds me of Sonny Boy Williamson's take on the Yardbirds, "They wanted to play the blues badly, and they played the blues... badly."
Eh, not a HUGE Yardbirds fan, but they weren't THAT bad!
Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter went to Number one in the UK based on 'pre-sales' orders, which from what I could gather were ordered by the record company. I worked for a printing company at the time and we printed all the CD inlays for Singles...we printed thousands of them...and they never left the factory and in the end were binned.
Lol
That's crazy
That was so funny, even if I didn't know most of the choices. My biggest take away though is that three of you have only seen Genesis in the 21st century, and it makes me teary eyed for the first time I saw them in 1972 :)
The Iron Maiden song 'Bring your daughter to the Slaughter was released at Christmas deliberately to foil the plans of a guy called Cliff Richard who was forever releasing awful Christian pap records which invariably got the coveted Christmas No 1 spot. It received no airplay from the BBC who of course hated it and never played any heavy metal. Thanks to everyone who hated Clif Richards (most of us) and Iron Maiden fans (millions of us) it went straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart on 30 December 1990. A real kick in the teeth to the establishment and well worth the cost of buying it!
30:40 Ac/dc´s "Big Balls" might suck, but "She´s Got You By The Balls" off of Razor´s Edge is pretty awesome, heavy stuff!
Yea he hit the nail on the head when he said “Big Balls is funny when you’re 12, but you realize how stupid it is when you get older” yea not only did I eventually find that song stupid, but also annoying
Great episode! KISS has always been a favorite of mine, but they do have a LOT of songs that could fit in anyone's list for this topic. Personally, i think it's ''I was made for loving you''. Never cared for that song. I excluded the solo albums, because Gene and Peter's have quite a few.. Twinkle twinkle little star? really? WTF.
You mean When You Wish Upon A Star. Still pretty bad though!
@@davidl570 yes.. equally as bad. lol I think my vinyl is still near mint.. that's how much i care for that album :)
This is why Chris Alo is the KING!!!!!!
What would a l hate show be without Chris Ahlo?
Great show as always.👍
Motley Crue - Smoking in the boys room
I have loved everything that Porcupine Tree released in their catalogue before and after first becoming aware of their material in around 1999. I also love all of the Steven Wilson solo albums and side projects such as No-Man, Blackfield, IEM and Bass Communion. But the one song I cannot get to like is Lazarus. It is from my fav PT album Deadwing, and it remains the only PT/SW song I always skip. I know others love this song, and SW himself says it is amongst his favs, but I really dislike it. Burn the witch! Great show :)
More or less the same for me regarding the Zeppelin songs mentioned.
The same Genesis songs come to mind. I love the early prog Genesis but I really struggled with the 80s Genesis, especially the pop songs. I saw Genesis 4 x. First time was on the Abacab tour.
BTW. The best Genesis gig I saw was on the Three Sides Live tour in 1982 in Detroit. On that tour they played Supper's Ready or the full version of Cinema Show as well as the Watcher Of The Skies/IT instrumental medley at some gigs. I was fortunate to see them play Supper's... and Watcher/IT... For me those two alone were worth the ticket price (along with The Lamb, In The Cage and Los Endos they also played). It was interesting to see 'new fans' getting into Misunderstanding, and Follow You Follow Me but then followed with a misunderstanding when Supper's... came on and carried on. The uninitiated must have entered into some kind of land of confusion. During those songs many went to buy drinks or took a toilet break. Go figure.
Marillion is one of my all time favorite bands and I really like the album Holidays In Eden but I never really liked No One Can. For what it is I suppose it is okay, but to me this song drags the album down. I like the other more pop leaning songs on the album but No One Can really pales in comparison to songs like Splintering Heart, The Rakes Progress and 100 Nights. No One Can is one I usually skip.
Great show. I'm older than the rest of you so my choices are also a little older. The Beatles-I Am the Walrus, Bob Seger-Turn the Page and The Rolling Stones-Happy.
Happy and Sweet Black Angel are the two weaker songs on Exile On Main St. indeed.
But "I Am The Walrus"?
I Am The Walrus sucks balls, total garbage. Happy is a great tune.
I have a few serious questions after tonight’s episode:
Don’t you think I’m a savior?
Don’t you think I could save you?
Don’t you think I could save your life?
Syd... Thank you for DaDa.. 🙏🙏 Those two other I support your thoughts on 👍
Jamie's Maiden math is great! 👍
A song that really sucks from one of my top three bands is "You shook me" by LZ (I know it's a cover, but a bad one, very unusual for LZ).
Totally agree with Pete on "Is This Love" - "Looking For Love" would make a better ballad for this album, but it was issued only in some areas as far as I know.
Pete is right as far as "Rusty Angels" is concerned. Check out Dokken's "Burning like a flame". It could be called a ripp-off.
Voivod's "Batman" cover was on the original CD release, which I bought when first released. Had no idea it wasn't on the original vinyl pressing. For the record, I dig the cover! (on a side note: interesting comparing the Eric Forrest era to Maiden's Blaze Bayley period).
I just remember Jamie calling Pat Benatar "honey bunch" and I was dying of laughter afterwards!
