Don’t forget it was easy for us but the clutch job alone from a garage would be 2-300 it did take both of us all day 👍 Wheel Refurb. Dan 07872 190614
where is the wheel refurb guy based Rob? (I'm in Kent so hopefully not very far from me)
Is it normal to take the bottom ball joints out on both sides and pull the driveshafts out completely before trying to remove the gearbox. Or do people just take one driveshaft out and then remove the other one as the gearbox slips out?

Hi chris and rob
Wicked stuff ....great vid
Hay ...me n mate are looking for a vw caddy a small one ..........
If you kniw any one or a trader up our way ......perhaps ....
Take care guys ........😊😊🙏🙏
As much as the salvage scruff like the Evoke & GLA are fascinating, these quick flips are too, its great to see cars being given a second chance & with the flips we never know what to expect, old, new, manual, auto, petrol or diesel..... Lets see more flips :)
Good blend of time lapse and 'real' time shots in this one, with the right amount of waffle ;), good video once again!
I wouldn’t worry too much about how your getting the content across, never saw you do a bad video mate so your already doing a brill job 👍🏻👍🏻
Definitely a fan of the live repairs ,keep up the good work boys
There's a 17 year old that will be loving that as a first car somewhere, looks cracking in blue with those wheels!
Well, ages doesn't matter. Everyone will love that car.
Excellent video, love these quick flips and the details of the jobs
Really like the no time lapse it showed the amount of teamwork between you another great video guys 👍
A good days work, the wheel refurb makes such a huge difference, always money well spent. Great job guys.
Another great video Rob. Would love to see more of these quick flip challenges :)
This is my go to channel right now, cant get enough..real cars real people
How good is this video.... love the quick flips, completely understand you don’t wish to do same in every video. Currently you have a great mix, just keep these coming... the Live video is great also ! Not a time lapse fan, it’s a tough one to balance ! Keep it up and all the best to the two of you.
Highlight of my week when a new project comes on. Keep up the great work inspiring all us DIY mechanics. Best wishes from Oz.
Chris where you been the videos now with you in them more just bought a smashing channel to new level two nice guys doing there thing keep it up lads
I actually just stumbled upon you channel and was immediately addicted. Really easy to watch and you don’t BS, just say how it is. I am learning lots.
Excellent video, keep them coming exactly as they are, the mixture is about right, thanks.
Yes, like the live stuff, it’s good to see you working on stuff and learning about it. I like these quick flip videos.
YEP!! .... Live Bits much better than Time-Lapse :-)
I found this very interesting as I did the same job on granddaughters car. She was quoted £500 at the local garage. I am a home diy mechanic so followed the haynes manual. Battery box & bumper off, both driveshafts removed etc etc. You made it look so easy👍
1 second ago
Absolutely, if you get creative with your camera angles, those live shots are worth their weight in gold for giving us plebs some good advice. Changing that clutch looked a sinch.
Throughout the lockdown, me and my young lad have loved watching your videos, over weekend we both like to get out and tinker with my old van and pretend we're you, the Salvage Rebuilds guys, he likes to be the quiet cool one and I have to be the one who doesn't shut up! Only joking! We're big fans. Thanks for the happy memories guys👍
Cheers rob and chris love seeing cheap bargain motors given a bit of tlc and back on the road where they should be, Cars like these are a godsend for people on low incomes who have to drive and new
drivers too.
It’s a thumbs up to the live bits from me mate, great to watch 👍
Love the live parts and the quick flip stuff Rob and Chris 👍🏻
The live filming on this one is really good, nice first car for someone now, can't imagine that one hanging about for long! Well done to you both
More of this would be great, I like work, I sit and watch it all the time🥴
Find it so fascinating watching you two lads flip cars. I'm an apprentice gas engineer, I have just got my gas safe at the age of 20, but always been into doing something like yourselves since I was a kid. Good work lads.
Easy flip. Great to watch the clutch being changed. Bargain car for someone
Thank you for everything that you guys do do the live footage is fantastic and those of us that can only dream of attempting the mechanical repairs that you guys crack on with it is thoroughly entertaining it's like watching wheeler dealer but you two are the real guys and we love the close-up mechanics
Binge watching your channel. This has taken over for me, where wheeler dealer left off, well, when Edd China left off. Great hosting and editing, you do always worry about the wind sound, do you not use a fluffy microphone? They are pretty good I've heard.
I was only thinking last week this is the new wheeler dealers just better.
I obviously can’t speak for new viewers but your personality comes across as being honest and jovial Rob, don’t be putting yourself down, by worrying about speaking with your hands, you and Chris have a great channel here so just keep doing what you’re doing and making enough money to keep your wives happy 🤔😆👍🏻
What would be good is if yous done a “how to” like once a week pick something to focus on and show a bit more detail, like how to change brake pads, how to service a car, how to change exhaust etc etc. 👍
Love these quick flip videos. The fast turnaround crash repairs or non running cars like this are your USP. Keep them coming.
There must be something sad about my life Rob, just got in from a filthy day in my paint shop. First thing I do after I walk in the door still in me overalls is sit down have a glass of wine and see if you’ve got a new video posted up. You are addictive mate, keep up the great work, kind regards, Seth, in suffolk 👍p.s you both keep a tidy wkshop ( I can’t stand to work in a mess 😂👍👍)
Cheers bud appreciate it 👍
Great job, really interesting to see this sort of work being done, gives me an idea of the complexities of it all.
Rob, stick a Go Pro on your head so we can get right in on the action. :-)
Go the whole hog....miners helmet 😆😆
Good idea
Cracking video guys. I’d certainly be happy seeing more ‘flipping’ vids. Some first time driver is going to get a lovely little car.
I reckon the live/time lapse mix is about right recently Rob 👍🏻
Really enjoyed the quick turnaround. More please. 👍
Great video again, just love watching them, giving me some inspiration to try some of these small jobs on my car, thanks again
Good video again showing both of u working together, gonna be a cracking little car for someone that, good little flip it came up really nice too, another good job lads 👍👍
My vote for more of the live real time footage instead of time lapse is a yes 👍👍😁
Totally agree Sammy
@@acorndogs904 Ah haven't seen you about in the comments the last couple of videos, wondered where you went 😁

A Go Pro with a mag base would be awesome for the real time sections, you could clip the camera anywhere, and if you had two, you edit between the two from different angles 😀
If Ray Winstone did car repairs this would be what exactly it would be like.
What....Sweeney Todd....slashing...the price of car repairs....or because.. "He's the daddy!" at it lol
I remember Ray Winstone in minder filling a wing for Arthur with mud which promptly seeded through the paint....Classic!
I bet they could knock dints out with a snooker ball in a sock
The wheels do set it off. Price it out a little more than double; you know someone will use the small imperfections to negotiate the price down. It's worth every penny you'll ask for it. Well done.
Not bad cars to work on these. Great car for someone, 1.2 petrols are bombproof.
Thanks Rob keep doing what you do, your judgement on what to do with time lapse is good. Take care and all the best. Stevie
I don’t do a lot but done one of these recently, on the ground. Had a bit head scratcher as the clutch release pipe wouldn’t sit in housing properly with the new one but would with the old one. We had new clutches in & out till we got it figured. Not a bad job to do on the ground tbh.
Firstly - GREAT to see Chris getting involved on camera.
Absolutely loved this video. It shows the real world struggles of bits that get stuck or are awkward to remove, sick of watching TV programmes or other you tube videos where everything comes apart as if by magic. Real is best.
mechanics most helpful piece of kit - THE CAR LIFT
More please!
Wife was worried that gearbox was going to fall on Rob. I told her, if it had they wouldn’t have uploaded the video.
But what if...
Chris uploads a short video.
Chris sat on a stool in the workshop looking into the camera and says “Welcome to the channel. There’s no video today as Rob is in hospital after a gearbox fell on him. Please like, share and subscribe. Follow us on Instagram for sneak peeks of Rob in hospital.”
lol!!! brilliant!!! cheers for the giggle!!
Definitely keep going with the live sections - great to watch! Thanks guys
Loving the live bits . Amazing content as always . Would love to have seen how Chris cleaned the spline .
Enjoying the real time footage. Good to see the professionals struggling a bit!
Love seeing these cheapies in between the higher ends rob mate looking forward to that gla work👍
Love these quick flip videos rob , .... never get bored of them .. Wheeler dealers has had the same format for basically 20 years and it’s still going strong, , would be good for an instructional video of when your cleaning an engine bay , the places to clean and the places to avoid , ... cheers 👍
My mate (sadly passed away) had a Clio. Not sure what year it was but it looked like yours and went like the boody clappers! They sure do win some traffic light races these things. Sound kinda sporty to. Great little fix'em up job, guys.
Excellent content really enjoyed it today more of them would be good cracking little cheap car
That looks mint, another great video :)
Brilliant content as per usual mate! I study automotive engineering at university, and you guys have gave me the inspiration I needed to finished my project car!
I always want to buy the car once you've sorted it, even though I don't need one LOL
Big well done rob and Chris another entertaining video. Car looks amazing and I found it unbelievable that you got a clutch removed and new one fitted in a day. 👍👍👍
A clutch on one of them I would of thought 3 hours, start to finish.
Let's get involved 🙂
Great video as ever, I liked the real time doing the gearbox learnt a bit other than it being on time lapse, hope it sells for you
Who remember paying £50 for a cheap run around with little MOT?
My first car a A reg fiesta in 1995 paid 200 had it for 2years
Bought a mk5 cortina £50 fixed it up put twin webber on it got 120mph out of it had it 3 year sold it for profit ,them was the days
Really good the live bits seeing the little details. I was thinking that's going be a right sod get back in if it's that tricky get out. Top upload again 😎😎👍👍👌👌
You two need a "Non Swearing Medal"....
Really like seeing the walkthroughs in full rather than the time lapse!
Liking the "real time" sections, and hearing the two of you talking to each other.
The real time parts are very interesting, the explanation that you give where problems may arise is also great to hear.
Another nice little earner for you lads.
Keep up the great quality vids
What a great cheap 1st car ! Excellent content as usual
Loving the live videos to show some of the detail (and the challenges faced), great job guys 👍
Dent in the rocker is probably from a poor choice on where to put a jack
Thanks for another easy to fix, cheap car quick flip video. Really enjoy watching the rebuilds on bread and butter models. Massive thanks for including where possible live footage makes it more interesting.
This reminds me of old school wheeler dealers 😃
Nice job. A popular little car in a nice, sharp colour, with the nice alloys and a good spec. For that money it's an absolute giveaway, as most below about £1500 have startship miles and are often very basic models, or they're being sold with known issues...
It must be unusual for Chris the quiet man to be the one making the noise for once...
It's good to hear Chris is made up with the quad, that was such a nice thing to do for him. It's going to look amazing when he's had his way with it...
Ha ha! Never thought I’d see my car again! Bought that new in 2011, sold it in 2014”
Small world
Great story as always. Can I suggest you try a radio mic kit for when you are away from the camera? I fixed my missus up with a Comica Boom X kit, 2 transmitters, 1 reciever and a bundle of connectors for all phones and cameras. Built in and lav mics, great wind suppression. Last ingredient you need really to polish up your great content. Keep em coming!
Another awesome vid.
We love you Rob & Chris.
I love the fact you’re so honest with all of the builds.
Is this the place they serve the best waffle in town 🧇 🚗 🔧
The best 👍
@@sruk Certainly plenty of it :-) Anyone would think you have changed a clutch before!
Nothing better than Monday after work find salvage Rebuilds in my in box big thumbs up for channel 🤗
My mate does mobile clutches on customers driveways by himself. Any clutch he will do it. You can imagine the size of his arms and shoulders laying on his back lifting them in and out.
What an awesome little car Again someone is getting a bargain absolutely brilliant video really enjoyed it
Your live bits gives everyone the feel of how hard it can be to repair motors, so well done, loving it, here in Bonny Scotland.
Great content and yes the live stuff is decent viewing. Bargain car and an excellent quick flip 👍🏼
Great to see the live footage much better than the time lasp .... much more live stuff please
Yes I like the live bits, you seem to present it all well.
Red grease on the input shaft (remove excess, just enough in the splines), and red grease on all gearbox dowels and bell housing bolt holes. Red grease is your best friend on a clutch change 👍🏻
By the way, the red grease is copper grease.
Great vid again you two your knowledge of every car you do is brilliant well done lads.
Brilliant Guys although I got a sweat on watching the removal of the box.
Wouldn't want to do it on the floor for sure.
A Good car for someone with a quality clutch expertly fitted.
Great job on the Clio its worth every penny, keep the videos coming I enjoy watching all of them, it’s nice to see the jobs done properly instead of by cowboys 👍
Amazing little 2011 motor for £200! This would be great for my wife to learn to drive in! Great video as always 👍
Love the cheap turn arounds 👌
Appreciate the live fitting of the clutch chaps 👍
Great job! Love the cheap car challenge and van videos. Keep them coming. The amount of live vs time lapse like in this video is a perfect mix. No need to apologize for the noise at the beginning. That's the sound of work, which is what your channel is all about. Keep up the good (noisy LOL!) work, guys!
Great work guys, has the mini sold as I wasn't sure how high I was up the list !!
It’s not ready to go yet but you are 5th 👍
Yes,the live stuff is really interesting.Close-ups of the inside of the bell housing, and the state of the clutch plate, and the detail about the drive shaft getting in the way is all useful information.Cheers.
Yes, keep doing the in-depth videos. Great to see all the detail, the problems you come across and how you deal with them. Looking forward to watching many more videos to come.
Nice easy one. The "old bangers" always have profit in them. Especialy if mum or dad want a safe cheep motor for the kids to round the corners off.
I like the live bits ,gives it realism and to see a project turned around in one vid is great ,always excited when another vid drops ,keep up the good work !!!
'The postman still calls round does he?' Haha! Couldn't help it. Great video fellas.
