One more Frank Zappa story from my past....I became aware and interested in Zappa in 1974 through a radio station in Memphis, TN. FM station of course, they played whole albums by Frank. The radio station created a pocket of Frank Zappa devotees in the city, so much so that, when Zappa came to Memphis for a concert, he guest hosted a couple hours at the radio station. Frank played records, told stories, even read the sports news. It was summer, so baseball was the sport of the day. When a broadcaster gets a sports feed, they would get the box score, showing all the innings. Frank apparently didn't know much about baseball. Instead of reading the final score for each game, he read out all the innings. So his delivery went something like this: Reds: 0 2 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 3 Braves: 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 2 After Frank read strings of numbers for multiple games, he paused and said, sports fans must be geniuses.
Similarly I heard Zappa on WHFS in D.C. introduce Richard Nixon’s resignation speech. Something like “and here he is Richard Nixon you won’t believe what he has to say…”
"Disco music makes it possible to have disco entertainment centers. Disco entertainment centers make it possible for mellow, laid-back, boring kinds of people to meet each other and reproduce." - Frank Zappa
Sheik Yerbouti is a fun album. I wore it out. I saw Frank at the University of Illinois, Champaign/Urbana in the mid 80s. In that concert, Frank rarely spoke. Most of the time he conducted his mini-orchestra, stopping from time to time to play lead guitar. He even had a baton.
Mr. Zappa was a creative superstar. L33 you should find the video of Frank on The Steve Allen Show back in 1962. Of course the show is Black and White, and Frank is sporting a haircut that would pass Army inspection, and he's in a Coat and Tie. He induces Steve Allen and his Studio band to "not play anything musical, while Frank "plays" a Bicycle. It is still "Must See TV". I think you would enjoy this hidden gem.
Dancing Fool... Right in the middle of the DISCO CRAZE, Zappa came out with this tune and the Anti-Disco folks put this one on the charts and it got a lot of Airtime. The conversation with the Jewish Girl in this tune is conceptual continuity with Joe's Garage ACT 2 Side 2. I forget which song it is in. Maybe Packard Goose.
Stick it out ends with those lines. As well, the CC goes way back to Fillmore East with: See the screaming Hot black steaming Iridescent Naugahyde python screaming Steam Roller!
Love Zappa, always did! The rock and roll fans, who were used to sort of shuffling in time, smoking a joint, or waving their hands around to see trails while tripping, were assaulted by the disco thing in the early 70's, ha! It was quite the sea change, people groomed to the hilt doing synchronized dance moves, like going from Woodstock to American Bandstand and Dick Clark. It was a real culture shock for the Hippies, for sure.
When you do get around to the Zappa..Floyd meeting and playing together, you may want to consider time travel as a reality, at 12.50 on the film, you will notice someone in the audience not really dressed and fitting in with those around him, Orange jacket, White Jeans, speaking on a cell/mobile phone.....1969 Hm!
Great jam and one of the best Zappa line ups. I would suggest Cocaine decisions from the Halloween 81 show. Also if you are looking for Zappa cross overs there are a few with John Lennon that are pretty good quality.
Frank was about the music and not a real fan of writing lyrics. So Frank being the eccentric genius he was decided if he was going to write lyrics, he was going to write politically incorrect comedic social commentary about how we act as humans. The funniest part is how well he nailed the subjects he wrote about and how allot of what he commented about lyrically is still relevant today.
When many of us were dying because disco had taken over the air waves, here came Frank to our rescue. Great song and perfect for the time!!
Disco Boy in 1976 was a good antidote too.
Laugh at his lyrics and appreciate his musical genius.

If there's one thing Frank liked, it's audience participation!
It might sound strange to some people , but I still have Zappa in my top 5 of guitar gods !
"Disco music makes it possible to have disco entertainment centers. Disco entertainment centers make it possible for mellow, laid-back, boring kinds of people to meet each other and reproduce." - Frank Zappa
YES , another fine classic !
I love "Dancing Fool" & spin the vinyl 45 whenever I can.
Vinyl 45s/ I remember 12" extended re-mix singles and still have a bunch of new wave stuff from that era.

One of the few Zappa songs that I’d actually heard before. Thanks Lee.
Wow, I have never seen this video, thanks so much for the Frank!
Glad you enjoy it, my friend. It is an honor to have such genius on my channel 😄
Nailed Disco culture and cracked us up, it was played all the time on Rock stations
What a fun song ... Frank's so good

Frank was great in concert! 1980 at SIU, Carbondale!!!👍⭐️😎
"Looking for Mr. Goodbar" was a crazy movie.! Rock on dude !!

Not a Jewish girl, but a Valley Girl from the San Fernando Valley
Stick it out ends with those lines. As well, the CC goes way back to Fillmore East with:
See the screaming
Hot black steaming
Iridescent Naugahyde python screaming
Steam Roller!
Love every single Zappa review! If you ever get the chance to do Carolina Hardcore Ecstasy from Bongo Fury…….. 😮💨 LOL I would not be sad at that!
One thing he couldn't do was playing guitar + sing simultaneously. No joke.
Absolute Genius
Live but with no audience, this was shot for German TV at Cirkus Krone in Munich on July 1st, 1978.

Well done. Zappa "Joes' Garage" and "Suzy Cream cheese" are two great ones as well
One of my favourite Zappa albums is Over-nite Sensation. Any song off of that is great, but I'm partial to "Camarillo Brillo".
"GOBLIN GIRL" next!
With a tongue like a cow 😛 LOL
@@TheHogsEarReport " Catholic Girls" is great!
...'N the spoon for up my nose
My all time favourite is Watermelon In Easter Hay😁
Must have been Amougies (Floyd & Zappa in Belgium) I missed that, I live there but I was too young (11) - Beefhaert was there too
"Only for entertainment purposes" :D Nice reaction!
I thought that was funny too lol
Shiek yebouti didn't come out until 79" and was my first Zappa album.
If it was compared president Zappa to any other president, what would be the main difference?
Ans. "I work more hours and I'm awake." - F Zappa
Got to listen to disco boy, one of Frank's most mainstream songs strangely it didn't get any airplay.
Vinny was the drummer for Jeff Beck also.
just superb🎼🎼🎼☕🚬
I'm a droolin' fool.😁
a really quick masterpeice is baby take your teeth out
Try it one time
Leave 'em on the kitchen table
@@Alix777. next to some frogs with dirty little lips

🤣🤣🤣love Zappa, I have Sheik Yerbouti and Joe's Garage part 2 albums. Havexa listen to Green Rosetta🤣🤣
Ah yes, I remember when this was a new release, we played it a lot!
Looking for Mr. Goodbar was a book published in 1975 that focused on a woman who frequented Singles Bars looking for sex/love.
I may be totally wrong but I'm a fool...lol❤
A Big genius
Should also check out "Cocaine Decisions" Another simpler Frank song with a bite
please do ‘Tink Walks Amok’ from ‘The Man from Utopia’ LP - blinding bass themed FZ instrumental. ‘Tink’ being Arthur Barrow’s nickname.
Zappa references the "your pace or mine" bit in other songs .......
Sheik Yerbouti. The first three tracks in one video.
Great jam and one of the best Zappa line ups. I would suggest Cocaine decisions from the Halloween 81 show. Also if you are looking for Zappa cross overs there are a few with John Lennon that are pretty good quality.
hey no worries mate, family first, us second, take care mate

getting caught in frank's cross hairs was both an honor and a horror.
Disco Boy
You have got to check out the Frank Zappa song Bobby Brown Goes Down. It’s hilarious.
Rat Tomago is the tune from Shiek that should be next.
From 1978 I think.
Lee, you have to listen to “Bobby Brown Goes Down” or “Jewish Princess”
Any FZ is good.
Yes, Frank hated disco too and disco still sucks! 😆
So many views so few likes? What's up with that? Why all the Lurking About?
Do BOBBY BROWN GOES DOWN, also from Sheik Yerbooti!
Frank would have turned 84 later this year.
The correct pronounciation of Vinnie's name...is COLE-EYE-OO-TA,,,Vinne Colaiuta
The tune underneafh the band introduction is called The Deathless Horsie, aa repeated riff in 5/4 for extensive soloing by Zappa.
Yowza
dont know much bout dancin
Sorry man, if you do not respect music?
