Do you mean sad? The ending story sounded like she came out of her painting but felt out of place. (she was paint the world around her solid). She even had her own soul, she was not just a blob of paint. But she was being bad changing the world just cause she was diffrent, maybe years as a painting made her twisted and she felt it was unfair everyone was free while she wasstuck to be a painting forever.
Both Canvas Curse and Squeak Squad were the last Kirby games I ever played. Out of all of the Kirby games I played, this is among the ones that stood out the most for me, it was a part of my childhood. Astronomically better than Kirby's Dreamland 1 and Kirby 64, right up there with Dreamland 2 and 3. The only games that truly surpass this one are Kirby's Adventure, Super Star and the Amazing Mirror. The end credits bring back a wave of nostalgia for me, my childhood left behind. Oh how I wish I could relive it again, but alas there's no going back. In my opinion, Canvas Curse was the last of the great Kirby games, but I could be wrong.
Don’t forget Kirby Air Ride. But I agree with you. The 2D Kirby games were some of the best: Amazing Mirror, Squeak Squad, Superstar Ultra. Even Mass Attack wasn’t terrible because it has great minigames, but I personally never got around to beating it (maybe the level design put me off, I dunno.) The 3D games to me always felt less responsive and like they were babying the player around. Although I appreciated Epic Yarn it never felt quite right and now there’s that huge Yoshi Kirby craft style kick that I feel is being overused.
Imo kirby is still going strong to this day. But that doesn't mean You can't have an opinion, and I respect yours fully. Ironically, star allies is My favorite kirby game. It seems to get alot of flack but before star allies...There was squeak squad. Which was also My favorite :) Star allies brought that childhood feeling in kirby back for Me. Doesn't mean it's better than squeak squad, though. I will find a way to buy a DS and archive it away with a copy of squeak squad incase I have a son/daughter in the future. I'll probably buy a duplicate switch and a copy or star allies to keep away as well lol.
