It's hard to believe I learned a dance that originally started in the 1920s......I'm 62.......my parents would have been blown away..... great tune.....😁😁😁😁
It was a scream when my 40-something sisters started doing "The Swim" to this one at one of my 45-rpm after hours parties. One of my favorites on the old Webcor Musicale.
Had it on my mp3 playlist forever. Bought the original in 1961. Played this on Bandstand and the kids loved it. Looked like it was made for the cutie at the 3:08 mark.
Now we have Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber... who said it was "better" before? Listening to this while working on my 79' Firebird brings back sweet memories.
Am I seriously the only person on here to mention this song being used as the theme music to the British sitcom from the '90s, called 'Bottom'? Makes me realise most Brits probably have no idea who recorded the song. Shame.
Just discovered this video! Fantastic! Been a Stax and Mar-Keys fan for a long time. Check out Bo-time by them. Love the Stax thump that moves the rump 😁
Weird thing is it has me digging on gals from the 1920s to 1940s ... ( then it hits me that they are looooong gone ) Makes me realize people back then had fun too. They managed to to have fun ... long before tweeting and social media in general .. they just got out there and ... did it.
I LOVE THIS LONG VERSION !!

Yeah, I think the Bandstand connection did it for me too. I live about 30 miles from Philly and one of my mom's cousins danced there. (Justine)

La musique de tendre jeunesse
This was not only a popular dance in the 20s, early 60s and again in the 80s but it was also aerobics.
Well if this is what the old people did in their spare time then it is no wonder they have knee and hip problems :P In love with this tune :D

I wasn't even born yet.
The charleston looks like the grandfather of both the mash potatoes and the slop. Tribal memory, no doubt.
