A Year After SCOTUS Overturned Affirmative Action: What’s Changed? | 6/28/24

- The historic ruling last summer reversed decades of precedent, ending the ability of #colleges and #universities-public and private-to consider #race as one of the many factors in deciding which qualified applicants are admitted.
As the dust cleared in the post-decision shock, a tumultuous year in #collegeadmissions followed: partial-year data shows more applications by nonwhite students earlier than ever. But this trend was somewhat overshadowed by the disappointing rollout of the #FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), plagued by delays and glitches, which is likely to have a major impact on enrollment of students of color.
The new reality is still to emerge clearly, but experts and advocates will discuss the trends they are seeing, how higher ed institutions are adapting, and what the future holds at a moment when American confidence in #HigherEducation hits a historic low.

Great commentary by the panel
. The Asian community got plaid. There was a bigger agenda by those that initiated the over turning of Affirmative Action. You have here in the comment section those talking about merit, however, in this country there are those that are passed over primarily because of who they are, skin tone. We live in a country that doesn't play fair. We have those that are in positions of power that are extremely bigoted. If they played the game of being qualified fairly, we wouldn't be having this conversation, however, that isn't what's happening. You have people of color with incredible credentials that don't get positions for that very reason. Great Job Panelists ❤ .
Oh, please! Wang and the other racist Asian plaintiffs, did not get "plaid." They were all willing ADULT participants in dismantling Affirmative Action, bec they are anti-Black!
@@changeisgood9955 how are they anti black exactly isn't affirmative action unfair so what's you're deal?
Karma! Enjoy!
Exactly
Government has no right to discriminate based on race.
That includes government schools.
We should abolish all race based government policies.
And legacy based programs also
@@emmanuelbriggs5182
As long as you oppose government enforced racial discrimination; we're in agreement.
I supposed you are one of those NON-BLACK people who don’t see color? Go work on your anti-Blackness!
Dream on.If there wasn't white racism created by " these programs would never have existed💯
Affirmative action is over. It's more Asians than other minorities .It's basede on meri, and that affects the workplace
Its no more issues what people went to court for . So DEI is ove, andp hopefull, people are happy
Yet, legacy admissions continues. So, no it's NOT all based to merit or there will be even more Asians in colleges and universities.
White women and Asians who benefited the most, from affirmative action in admissions and the work place, are not happy.
Vote BLUE!!!
