Man I know how long you've been wanting to get up there... all those years staring up that way from 395. Looks like it did not disappoint!! You captured some incredible shots. I'm stoked that backpacker rod worked out!!
Thanks for the rod bud!
Do you guys have a link for the rod? I broke my telescopic Okuma (Discontinued) at 5th lake a couple months back (you probably heard my heart break down at 3rd lake) and I have been looking for a good replacement for under $100. Thanks guys and thanks for the tips over the last 4 years as I was getting back into fishing on my East and West Sierra trips.
@M1ST3RHYDE amzn.to/3PL13Tw I believe this is the 7' 4 piece. Good deal right now too
Wow, just loved the video as it brought back some very great memories of my hike to that lake. So worth the effort.
Isn’t it one of the best spots!!! I absolutely love this place. It’s so beautiful
I don’t fish, but seeing people fish at places like this makes me want to start. Lol You got some great shots! Love the Big Pine Creek area!
Look into a tenkara setup if you ever want to start fishing. They're Ultralight and they don't take up much space at all. Big Pine is sure a special spot.
@@HuckOutdoors Will do! Thanks for the suggestion! 🙂
Wow awesome video Huck! The views and scenery were spectacular. Love the fishing videos (my favorite) 🤙
Thanks 👍
beautiful place to be, so nice with all the water and snow this year. looks like some decent fishing too, thanks for taking us along
Nice to see fishing in your videos again.
Thanks!
I’m glad to see you guys hiking the three musketeers, and their dog spot. Good times friends.
Thanks AL!
Watch you and troutdoors for fishing up 395. Im glad you got the chance to do this. Those spots by the creek and falls with water splashing up in the shade were a life saver. I love it up there, can't wait to watch the rest and see where you camped. Summit lake has Golden's and word on the trail was a guy caught a 14"+ Golden. I didn't make it to Summit but kept a few to cook at camp.
Thanks for all the support. Hopefully I can do summit next time.
@@HuckOutdoors it is always a great trip up BP, this year it looked different, the long stretch of topped Aspens you mentioned was a beautiful 30-40 foot tall canopy. Next year Glacier Lodge should be fully operational ( generator issues due to the excessive water flow) . They are a great place to stop for a beer and Burger. The owners are great and Bought it 6ish years ago after migration from O.C. I accidentally left a question about a link for the rod on Troutdoors comment .
Absolutely gorgeous area! Thanks for sharing
What an amazing and beautiful place! I loved the scenery and the fishing.. awesome time lapse.. cheeseburger birds lol!! Man, one day I'll get up there.. thanks for the great vid.
Really good to see you on trail again man! Glad the wife could join you!
What an amazing beautiful hike 😊
Nice relaxing video with beautiful scenery. I knew those birds were saying "cheese burger" 😉
That is such a beautiful area. Thanks for the video. I’m reminded of the trip I did. Also, thanks for bringing that big camera. Lots of great zoomed shots of the peaks and waterfalls, etc.
Man it sure was a beautiful spot! I think I want to check out the south fork sometime too!
I went there at the start of fall and the turquoise water was stunning.
Nice video Jason! Definitely a beautiful spot
It really is!
Looks like a great trip!
It was!
Absolutely beautiful.✌️
Hello 👋 What A Beautiful Upload Watching 👀 Here Your Nice Upload Good Job Keep It Up Have A Nice Day 👋
Been a while since I’ve been up there. Summit Lake is worth the additional miles. Some nice goldens and LCT up there.
Maybe on another year that the snow/ice isnt as bad i'll make it up there!
Hey, Huckster !!..love the channel you keep ne motivated, man!!..I've been on solos to... big pineslakes ,cottonwood lakes and the fork of the kern wilderness .could you direct me to other spectacular alpine wilderness spots I can put on my list ..im planning my itinerary for this year in the sierras ..ty brother and GOD bless!!😊
Rock on! Domeland Wilderness is a really fun one.
One of my fav areas in California: the 395 and Eastern Sierra. I must do this hike next time I am up there. Thanks for sharing, and I am subscribing for more! :)
So many great spots on the 395.
@@HuckOutdoors I 100% agree!! 😍
Absolutely stunning lakes! Was it everything you were hoping for? Seems like it! Beard is also lookin healthy ma dude! ‘What I do for UA-cam!!!’ 😂
Dude it was everything I hoped for and much more!
Great video 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing. How many hrs does it takes to get to the first lake ?
Could take someone 2-4 hours
wish I were you dude!
How long did it take you guys to hike between the camp and the second lake ? My friends and I are going to be in Bishop in July , and I like to try and hike this .
Couple hours to get to Lake 2. We took our time and enjoyed the trail. From our camp to lake 3 was about 30ish minutes.
Beautiful lakes! Nice campsite overlooking Lake 2. Are there any campsite down near the water at either Lake 2 or Lake 3? I'm planning to head up there in mid-September. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Lots of sites out there!
I have been to Big Pine one. I think it would be great to give folks some technical information. It’s not an easy hike. Like how far from the trail head, elevation info. Ect.
Maybe I can remember to include some info on another one.
You got that right. Some people don’t make it all the way. The trail head sign is should be more informative.
How long it’s the hike to lake 2 from parking spot?
Couple hours depending on how many pics and videos you take
Hey Huck What Lake did you spend your 2cd night? Lake 3
Both nights at Lake 2. We just did a day hike to lake 3 and spent a lot of time there. There are many great camp sites there.
How’s the mosquitos?
They were bad in the evening.
can you hike it in febuary?
Not sure how the permit system is in the off season
Understood. What do you think the weather would be like in February hiking it?@@HuckOutdoors
How many miles is it to lake 2?
6-7 miles
How many hrs did it take you to get to lake 2? Thanks
When you're hooking a fish on every cast, and every fish is a skinny, 7" dinker, this is not "good " fishing. It's sucky fishing. it means the lake has way too many fish for for its natural food supply. That's the sad story for at least 95% of the timberline lakes in the range. Also, it means too many fishermen keeping too many decent size fish (10" +) when they do manage to hook one. The moral: use barbless lures and flies ONLY, never use bait, keep the dinkers for dinner (put about 20 in a pan and you might get a sparse meal out of them), and release anything 10" and up.
Nice video. These were some of the most secluded spots now everyone knows about it. been going there for the past 15years.
It's blown up big time over the last 5 years.
@@HuckOutdoors yup just like everywhere else .
