50th Anniversary of the Baja 1000

- 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of arguably the toughest off-road race in the World! Stretching from Ensenada to La Paz, racers travel across some of the most intense terrain this planet has to offer along the Mexican Peninsula.
No matter the obstacles that lie ahead, all of the racers have one thing on their mind... WINNING! - Спорт
Congrats on Trophy Truck #1, a non-sponsored team beating the big name factory sponsored team with big name drivers and bigger budgets. Talk about being the underdog.

Wow
hahah The truck with no sponsors won!! LMFAO
RPM 🙄
ua-cam.com/video/LivbkNEVANg/v-deo.html
This is just a hobby for people with money! All of them have fun!
@@MariaGonzalez-fn2bi rpm it’s not a sponsor. It’s like putting a Pizza Hut in your car. That’s not a sponsor it’s just someone that paid to have their name on it
@@santiago7314 That is exactly what a sponspor is lol.
30 min penalty for speed? No he got a penalty for doing a wheelie and crashing into the stands at the finish... Broke someones leg. Get the story str8
Lol did that really happen though or was it not for any of those🗝
@@skyknight3621 It happened exactly as he explained. Dude's a dumbass and cost his team the win with a failed showboating effort.
Oh that would make more sense lol
totally worth it
From my perspective view, I believe that the Baja 1000 is far out the most legendary race in the world.
My dream would be is to see a live event.
Just the atmosphere would be astronomical and breathtaking.
My respects to all races testing they're endurance and test out new racing technology.
Take care and God bless!!!
"Due to a speed violation." Tell it like it actually is - they were reckless and severely injured a spectator at the finish line.
Fucking hell seriously? I was kind of pissed because that just screams stolen win but shit. Then again how much is it truly their fault. Fans get retarded at the 1000
They love wheelies down in Baja, if you guys are referring to the accident with the Honda team. The guy pulled a wheelie at the finished line and the road was slippery he slid out and I think someone broke their leg or something like that. It’s a bummer, but it’s a great example of never celebrating to early.
Falcone Moto Someone didn’t break their leg. The Honda teams motorcycle broke their leg when it skidded in to the fans.
The video showed him stick the wheelie and go on the get on the podium and receive his medal
"Trophy trucks are coming" bikes proceed to haul ass.....we know who the boss is
The bikes?
Trophy trucks may be the boss vehicle, but the bikes are able to hold the riders' huge balls
amen!!!
Bikes actually beat trucks time wise, which is why bikes go first. 4 to 1 win ratio over the last 53 years
Pre-running and chasing for these races (especially the 1000) are always the highlights of my year. Can’t wait to go back next year!
How do you do this? How can this become a career
I find it hard enough to drive from BC to BCS every year on the paved roads!
This is really amazing!
Esta bien chingon de norte a sur
To me the real heroes are the dudes on bikes, they don't have a co driver, they don't have helmet ventilation and cooled jackets. They don't have 4 wheels with 3 feet of suspension travel. It's just them, a bike and a big tank of fuel.... and some gynormous balls.
Peter Griffin if you haven’t watched it yet, go watch dust to glory. Gnarly rider to iron man the whole 1000 on a dirt bike.
It's got to be pretty hardcore in the vintage classes as well. Class 5 VW, with virtually no suspension and low HP...
c warner, not sure what class 5 is, but I'm thinking class 11 is the roughest craziest dudes out there in a car. A bone stock vw, 60 mph non stop. Crazy bastards
Phil Z
Okay, that is the class i was thinking about. Hardcore for sure !
Peter Griffin ouyei
We were proud to be there and support a second place finish with Chapo Racing in the UTV FI class. Best race on the planet!
Congrats! I wish I could witness one of these races im obsessed with trophy trucks
To be honest it’s not just utv and atv riders. Not everyone who rides one is like that. I ride dirt bike mainly but enjoy the utv and atv’s I’m not against them.
ptxxr650r You're blaming a single group of people for something everyone does. It's not just UTV drivers. Don't try and shift the blame asshole.

I raced the Ocala, FL Enduro, row 3, on my line was Larry Roeseler and Ty Davis, late 1990's! Larry amazed me at every check, he stranded on his pegs as if he was talking to someone, almost at a dead stop, in line waiting to get scored. After a grueling 80 plus miles he never sat on his seat even one time in that deep sand whoops. I won my class that day, trying to keep up with those amazing athletes.
Been following Baja since i was 6 my dad got me into it . Love Baja
Jose Aguirre ..."and I am seven now"...just jocking...my greatest memory was seeing the Oly Broncos back when.....long time ago
Did I miss something? The winner in 1st place was a Mexican, and he's not shown or interviewed?
It's a monster energy video so they're only focusing on monster sponsored drivers
@@dmalll4360 L A M E
It had nothing to do with him being Mexican..lol..It was because he wasn't sponsored and this documentary is obviously for those sponsored teams..
School of Holistic Vibrations you’re on the monster Channel. If you wanted to see the whole Baja 1000 then go look it up.
Don't make it about race. This isn't every bit of footage from the event
Excellente. Viva Baja California!
RIP to my brother Luis Antonio Mejia Loved this stuff
🌻
R.i.p.
Great video, deserves a billion views!

WHAT ARE YOU SAY IS A SPECTACULAR FILMING BROOOOOOOO0
This was refreshing, Cameron always rolls in the purest looking trucks its legendary.
I ran in the 1967, 68 and 69 races, rough to say the least and a lot of great people . i'm glad it's still going and good luck to all.
Love you PAB!!! Thank you for awesome experiences.
This should be an Olympic sport
Like motorsport's equivalence of marathon? F**k yeah!
Best of the best.
Thanks monster energy for all that you do for motor sports. You are a awesome Co for supporting and reinvesting your hard earned money into sports. There's a little monster in us all.
Dennis let's not forget, red bull does a lot too! Haha
Thank u guys for believing in baja California we are happy to have our neighbors come and are very nice to us .
I want to do off-road racing professionally. It looks like so much fun!

viva mexico, saludos equipo monster
Congrats on yet another win for BF Goodrich too. Retired from there after 36 years. I've actually built some Baja T/A tires. Those are some beasts, and heavy as hell. haha
Great story telling and wonderful filming!
damn these guys have balls, it would be awesome to go and try to just finish this awesome event, congrats to the people who did!!!
This film should win some award for cinematography excellence and editing content subject superb watch
My grandfather with his brother won multiple baja races racing jeeps 👍
Will u be joining us this year
@Sergy Slivnik couldn't find the baja records but found him on themint400.com/champions/ 1972 Arther L. Archer / Sherman Balch
@Sergy Slivnik no problem buddy 👍 we have different last names cause my grandmother didn't want my dad to have his father's last name. They owned a team in nascar as well called archer brother racing
Can’t wait, see you next week Baja! ❤
It's pretty cool that The MotoCross division share the track with the Baja 1000 competitors it adds a sense of intensity to the whole race
To follow up. We went to baja on the sport class, team of only 7 team memebers from maryland and dc . it took a great effort, and most crazy experience. We did not finish but we going back! We learned so much. Also folks talk about mexican traps. mexican (like me ) got us out on various situations. Dream dream big baja is an example of what cant be done but it can>
I had the opportunity to ride a couple of legs of a BAJA 1000 classic as a navigator and mechanic a few years ago. Pretty amazing experience.
amaziing peoples ,drivers ,and landscape!!
When I grow up to be able to move im going to move to cali just for these its been my dream to see Loretta lyns and baja races
My boy and I about to start building a truck. We have given ourselves 2 years to get it ready and tested. No sponsors or anything. Just 2 oilfield guys. We just want to finish and the glory of doing it all. No swapping of drivers or anything. 🤟🏽
for a second I honestly thought I clicked on a "Launch Control" episode by Subaru. Same commentator
Dude me too lol, LC is still the best show on youtube even tho this was badass.
Yessss!!!! This comment needs more likes haha
Andy Amezcua I know right! I just watch launch control before this
I do not get it
I watched a Baja 500 with my dad back in 1999 it was amazing
Excellent video, thanks for sharing
9:40 Rip cone
XD
GREAT editing Monster!
I wish I had the money to do this kind of racing. It's impressive what the drivers and crews do in order to finish the race let alone do well enough for top positions. I agree with what the trophy truck drivers say when it comes to the guys on bikes racing. I wouldn't want to be one of them on the course with trucks flying by me. I think the guys on the bikes are the most hardcore racers.
It is the "purist" route though. The Baja was initiated by Honda to prove their bikes could handle offroad terrain. The original Baja race was just two Honda motorcycles driving the peninsula to prove that those bikes were tough enough, and it grew from there. So, sure, it's crazy, but it's the original Baja.
Really nice e video capturing some of the different aspects. I know you focused on the monster teams but it didn't feel biased. Thanks 😊
I'll never forget driving out to the race course near Borrego the following morning and coming across a Japanese guy on a bike that had gotten lost overnight. He asked us for directions to the highway so he could quit and get back to his base camp. He said, "I need the road to town!"
Some envy right there at the finish, put some attention to Apdaly Lopez he's the man to congratulate!
Great scott ! How many Monster sponsored trucks were there in this race ?
Top gre
Great Video!
greetings from Baja California Mexico
My uncle was a co-driver in the trophy truck category back in 1997.
🔥 congrats 🔥

Awesome video!
Absolutely AMAZING
good job - wish i could hav been there in La Paz
Nice Video Love Baja too 👌
Great video !
Raced in this on a Honda dirt bike. Fucking not joke. The silt made me humble. That and the broken ribs. But thanks to a trophy truck driver helping me lift my bike up I finished my leg. This shit is no joke. Real deal.
I had the best time of my life going to see this trucks in baja
This is such a mean video !!!! So rad!!!
Apdaly should be monster sponsored, i mean dude was flying day and night. He is also 3 time score champion in a row which is pretty fucken impressive considering the other skilled drivers
Mr. Repetitititive agree!
Excellent video.
This dude Cameron Steele is geting close to be the number One...
LMAO yes the reason I stayed in it is Baja is a part of my family etc... COME ON CAMERON
The reason you stay in it is being in the position of racing a TROPHY TRUCK off road. How could you walk away from that situation? I have a prerunner I built and am very stoked driving it. Having a Trophy Truck etc.. would be unbelievable. Just a ride in one would be a life long great memory.
I gotta see this in person one day!
That was really cool!
Great Video. I just went to the 2020 Baja 1000
That Magpul truck was awesome
Sounds like the same narrator for this as the one for launch control. I think this guy is good at it. And has the voice for it
Weird seeing awesome shots of the rockstar truck on the monster page
I love this race and the Isle of Man..I prefer the Isle of Man, but this is sick as hell too..
I want to do this like it looks like so much fun but at the same point very challenging and I think I would love doing Baja racing these guys love it I love the idea of Baja racing what do you guys think should I do it or is it too costly to maintain a Baja truck like those
Que!! Estan listos para la siguiente baja 1000.
we need more baja games. the only good one is baja: ege of control
Amero I agree, the ultimate for me is changing the settings for the trophy truck, first I go to options then go to driver physics and turn the traction off, second I go to the garage and change the suspension to the highest ride height as possible with the grippiest tires as possible change it to manual transmission and make the shocks donkey kick on the rear end, and put on the worst Cooling, the weakest breaks, then I go race the Baja 1000 on time trial with vehicle damage on full and tree collisions on all, then start the race with first person view and no GPS then just try to not wreck, overheat, or wear out your brakes the entire Thousand Miles. It's a steep learning curve but it makes you drive your f****** ass off.
James I don't think you understand the concept of the challenge or the games time trial mode.
Go and have a look at Aussie super truck racing. Its crazy action packed well worth a watch only between Baja races of course.
La baja mil es en mexico al menos muestren subtitulos para que la audiencia que habla español entienda.
Xonoman porque? Ustedes deberían aprender inglés you lazy fucks.
Armstrong chido we
Armstrong Calmate prietito.

How come these trophy trucks have so good oversteer even after having soft shockers at the rear??😍 Its just ARB or something else??
I feel pretty cool to know that my uncle and my dad won the trophy truck lights

This is really an incredible event

Dog's Gaming - Roblox how much weed did you smoke too bro
Bucket list race
someone tell me where i can get a suspension kit that close to matching a baja one for a 1991 s10 blazer 4x4 frame??? right now its a crawler with a LS 3 and looking to take on navada or worse type terrains in this truck :) i just cant find info on the suspension set up for what these guys are doing here lol
Damn it im so jealous. id love to get a chance to do this stuff
Talking about Baja makes me smile
Rip Kurt Casseli
Brock Larrick yes and many others. I must comment. Guy I went to HS with. His son is in a wheel chair now bc of Baja. Dennis and Rita Law's. Jerome. Jerome just about died there. His father managed d to save his life. Is it worth it? Everybody has an opinion. I say it's not
6:47 the trucks are coming
6:54 Rip moto guy
Thanks
Best narrater
awesome footage..
