    CORRECTION: Rotation is actually TOMORROW (March 21st) and not today (March 20th). Slip-up as I recorded this at 2am and ready to fall asleep. Apologies for the mistake!

      When it rotates, do I lose all the starter decks that were free from 2023?

    • @InThirdPerson
      @InThirdPerson  2 місяці тому +1

      @@victorangelogabrielyou keep all the starter decks! However, certain cards will rotate out, which means you may need to modify the decks to work in Standard or use them in Expanded.
      For new players, if they first sign in AFTER rotation, they only get the 2024 decks and not the 2023 decks.

    Would love to see these all get a league battle deck physical release. Accessibility to the card game is a good thing

    • @InThirdPerson
      @InThirdPerson  2 місяці тому +2

      I would love to see more League Battle Decks too!
      However, despite the rapid growth of the game in terms of tournament turnout, I get the sense that the reason why we get so few League Battle Decks each year is because the demand for more simply isn’t there right now to sustain more decks. Pokemon card products sell HEAVILY towards collectors more than players, which is why we get dozens of collector boxes every year but only 2-3 League Battle Decks in the same timeframe.
      I hope to see the needle move on that front to the point where Pokemon releases more of them. I’ll gladly buy more!

    Roaring moon should not be as fast as it used to now that it doesn't have moltres v with energy switch. We will prob see lots of Charizards probably though. Will need to make sure to tech for the Zard or to have a good matchup against it.

      I have tested RM turbo (version without) and it is really strong and fast. Single prize RM helps a lot. Biggest downside is loss of cross switcher and vip pass. But those are minimal nerfs.

    Quick question: are there psychic energy on the roaring moon deck like you have it, or was that supposed to be dark energy? Thanks!

      It’s supposed to be dark I screwed up the graphic

    It's really cool to see zoroark Vstar get a spotlight since it's one of my favorites, but seeing the nest balls and buddy buddy poffins, i think, is wrong. Would rather go great ball so that this way, the card goes into your hand and then can actually be affected by gapejaw. Also way too many capurting aroma.

    • @InThirdPerson
      @InThirdPerson  2 місяці тому +2

      Those are all easy fixes players can make on their end. But yeah having Pokemon in-hand for Zoroark specifically makes sense for the Gapejaw Bog synergy.

    Do you have any resources to know what to update for each of these decks? You mentioned some ideas. Just curious.
    Also, random question - what are your thoughts on sealed Obsidian Flames vs Temporal Forces? I'm trying to build up my collection, and just want nostalgic stuff as well. Those 2 sets are cheap and seem relevant atm.
    Thanks for all your vids! 😁

      I’m on my phone and can’t grab all the links, but I have previews or deck profiles for all of those decks in varying degrees of newness. Just search my channel for the Pokemon and results will come up.
      I have covered Charizard, Giratina, Roaring Moon, and Lugia already as standalone deck profile videos in the last few weeks. I’m going to be covering Chien-Pao next week. And I have preview videos with deck lists from Japan for most of these decks as well.

    May your explain why Greninja is so good. I must be missing something on its ability

    • @InThirdPerson
      @InThirdPerson  2 місяці тому +2

      Greninja is a basic Pokemon that is an instant draw engine. Discard an energy and draw 2 cards. Being able to have a steady source of draw helps a lot. A number of decks that don’t use Greninja’s attack will still use Greninja just to help draw cards.
      Furthermore, lots of decks want energy in the discard pile. Chien-Pao can use Superior Energy Retrieval to recover energy from the discard pile. Same goes for Gholdengo. Gardevoir ability attaches energy from the discard pile, so Greninja helps to move energy there. Dark decks attach energy from the discard pile to benched Pokemon through Dark Patch. Palkia can use its VSTAR power to attach water energy from the discard pile to other water Pokemon. Fire decks accelerate fire energy from the discard pike to benched Pokemon through the Magma Basin stadium. Post-rotation Miraidon might run Greninja, especially if they use energy sticker. Arceus might use Greninja if they also have the Poppy supporter so that Greninja can land a sneak attack. Hisuian Basculegion and the upcoming Sinischa ex do damage based on the amount of energy in the discard pile. I’m sure there are more good examples out there.
      With the new card Ciphermaniac’s Codebreaking, Greninja gets even better. That supporter lets you pick 2 cards from you deck and place them at the top of your deck. Greninja can then discard an energy and draw those 2 cards.
      As for its attack, being able to hit two targets for 90 damage each can be absolutely devastating if you snipe out two smaller Pokemon for 2 prizes or finish off 2 multi-prize Pokemon for 4 prizes. Only certain types of decks can get the energy on there fast enough (Chien-Pao, Palkia, Lost Box, etc.), but it’s yet another tool these decks get.
      limitlesstcg.com/decks
      5 of the top 10 best performing decks at in-person tournaments have Greninja in them. Even more if you go to top 20.
      From a gameplay perspective it’s easily one of the best competitive cards from the Sword & Shield era.

      Decks run one copy yeah? Is that because basic mon are easily fetched from Nest and other means?

      Greninja is a Radiant Pokemon, thus you’re only allowed 1 Radiant card per deck.
