First time seeing this channel. Very educational and funny! Though as you were describing the color and features of the tiny gemstone I could not see the detail with just you holding it closer to the camera and pointing. I would recommend scattering some of the pieces of photography at the end throughout the video. I would be better able to take in what you know about these gemstones that way.
OrangeFluffyCat I have some huge pieces of lapis, virtually all grades of lapis will have some pyrite, some of the higher quality pieces have flecks but generally pyrite is good for distinguishing the two
UCLA - blue and gold. :) Lapis is a gorgeous stone. I've recently been drawn to it. The blue with the flecks of pyrite is just memorizing, like stars in a night sky.
The boxes being a soft grey, a lovely neutral tone, may not be representative of gemstones, BUT that way they don’t compete or distract from the gemstone contents-cuz they deserve to have the full spotlight
Could add some shelving with gems & geodes in the background set, lit with some soft lamps on the gems & geodes it's displaying Also, magnifying glass-lamp on the table so we can see more of the details on the gem being showcased?
Ooof, what a lovely Lapis Lazuli collection you had here for us today. The gold and white flecks and lines really accentuate this massive hunk, and the tiny cabochon as well. It's such a beautiful kind of stone, very dark and yet able to stand out perfectly against muted colors of your set today, even against other dark blues like your coat's. Lovely episode, as always!
just a suggestion, can we have the camera to do a 360 on the gems cause the light reflecting off it may be different in certain lighting. i love your vids btw :3
Idea for your set. Photographers backdrops. Grey pattern or another color. Could change them from time to time depending on topic. Perhaps a white mat under the box to set the items on.
Neat video. Boxes wouldn't be bad if the background was nicer. Black background make it hard to focus on you (dark sweater and hair on dark background).
I'm really thinking now that the Lapis Lazuli I owned was actually Sodalite... but TBH if so, I liked the Sodalite better. Still it would have been nice to have known for sure.
Came from Film Theory, have always been so interested in gemology, even when I was a kid I would find the shiniest stones in my grandfather's creek and collect them. Great to find this channel, I love videos like these.
Personally I think that the gray boxes, and dark background help the Stones stand out. As you taught me, just like a black opal, the darker the background the more your color stand out :-) thank you guys for all you do and for providing me a fun and educational program
I SOOOOO WANT these Lapis sunglasses I saw online!😱 the frames are Lapis & Gold🤩😍🥰 ...Lapis was WORSHIPPED By the Anasazi and they used it to vibrate into higher dimensions
If you guys really do decide to change the studio up a bit, I think a lavender backdrop would look lovely!! Also, if I could choose the color of the boxes, I’d go for cyan!
I personally couldn’t bring myself too pic a stone and grind it down for pigment.. although the hues of colour in the final result are something else 💎 it’s amazing how many forms of art gems & minerals fit comfortably into.
What do I know? I don't know. But I don't think the grey box matters. To me, the box should be subordinate in color, tone, and emotive power, to the content of the box. Maybe wedding presents, and maybe Christmas presents, are different. I don't think it matters if it's gemstones or chocolate calcite. The box is not sad, it's polite.
As a child I had rock stands, instead of lemonade stands. Don't know why I didn't stick with it. I would have fools gold, and pebbles from gravel driveways that had amethyst looking inclusions featured in my inventory. Wishing now that I had pursued geology a little more seriously.
@@cecilejourdan5500 I’m from london but at the moment I’m pakistan managing my Jewelery business. Tbh I could look at lapis and tel if it’s fake now 😂. I’ve seen sooo much real lapis. We have over 25kg of madani 4 lapis pigment, real lapis cabachons, real lapis rough peices and polished peices/chunks. We do sell. And you’ll be shocked with the prices 😂 . We get lots from the mines such as jundak, we do have madani but that’s quite expensive and we only sell lots.
@@cecilejourdan5500 the problem is a lot of people sell to outsiders very expensive but in lots, or over priced. But again I think it’s ok since they got to eat. Imagine 😂 we get our lapis super cheap…. But not going to reveal, as the miners and the community would not be happy 🤪
Since you asked, I am a huge fan of the pink, blue and purple colour scheme. If it was me to decide how the set should look I would do something along these lines. A psychedelic tarp would also look great! But you know, that's just me.
While lapis is opaque, high quality lazurite is often translucent to transparent in thin sections. Unfortunately, most of the stones labelled lazurite for sale online are lapis lazuli not lazurite. It's a shame because lazurite is such a beautiful gem itself and deserves to be appreciated as such.
What type of equipment is used to differentiate sodalite from lapis lazuli? I just got a stone that it was sold as a "blue jasper" but it has inclusions that looks like silver, aluminum or zinc, with a shape like roots and I would like to identify it.
I have an idea for the boxes lol How about a white box with holo rainbow "paint splashes" and a reverse of it :3 (Holo rainbow box with white splashes)
"'That's so small", "Look how tiny that is !"I was expecting something more" Size is not all that matters ok ? :'( More seriously those are beautiful gemstones. The color must have been particularly striking in ancient times, with blue being so rare in nature.
So this is were lapis went after she took the barn.
Luna The Purple Fire Cat :(
OH MY GOD IM DEAD
Luna The Purple Fire Cat nah I went to the moon
with all my stuff
Peridot R. No regrets.
Every time she says Lapis there is flashing of Lapis's face in my mind!... 😄😄😍😍😍🙋
Aman Mandiya just like the peridot episode
Cain Harris Yess 😁
Aman Mandiya it’s actually spelled Lapis. Just wanted to point that out
TheUltimatePvzLord385 PS how do people manage to misspell the name of the gemstone when it’s literally in the title of the video??
TheUltimatePvzLord385 PS sorry for the spelling😅
Oh!.. My my!...
😍😍😍 Lapis lazuli

She is great!... 😘😘

yeah she is great
Gray spinel is actually quite beautiful

Thanks Wesley! You can also go to the JTV Gems Instagram (link in description) to see more photography from the episodes.
No wait. You can tell the difference because lapis has pyrite bits in it and sodalite doesn't
Moody Man not a large chunk, but I have lots of lapis beads and cabochons that have little gold flecks in them that are pyrite 🙂
Moody Man I have a big lapis lazuli cabochon with a polished dome but a rough bottom and both sides have a lot of pyrite
OrangeFluffyCat I have some huge pieces of lapis, virtually all grades of lapis will have some pyrite, some of the higher quality pieces have flecks but generally pyrite is good for distinguishing the two

I can arrange it for you, if you want it.
I agree. I recently got a couple pieces and was amazed at just how beautiful lapis truly is
I agree I love the colour of lapis lazuli....also I love lapis lazuli from steven universe. ...
Just found your channel from film theory. This is my new rock channel
Matthew McCabe I also found this channel through Film Theory, but at the time the video came out, which was months ago.
Great! Matpat is the best! We're happy you've joined!
JTV I'm happy I joined too, lol. But yeah. Quality content on an interesting subject.
The boxes being a soft grey, a lovely neutral tone, may not be representative of gemstones, BUT that way they don’t compete or distract from the gemstone contents-cuz they deserve to have the full spotlight
Lapis Lazuli is my fav. Those bands that are on the side are from the way it is formed in sheets.

If you want to see something really amazing made out of lapis, look up the Ishtar Gate.
Lapist Is a beautiful shade of blue, I love it.
Thank you.
Lapis is probably one of my favorite gemstones ever.
Ancient Egypt one used to grind Lapis Luzuli into powder to make blue paint and makeup.
You should make the background a colage of pictures of gems
Ah, my favorite stone finally showcased! 💙

Lapis is one of my favorite material.
I love lapis! I have lapis in jewelry ! You should have a picture of an English Garden in your background.
I love lapis because the contrast with the blue and gold makes me think of stars in the sky :)

A background of abstract flowers would be great with the gemstones. My high school football colors were blue and gold, West Hardin Oilers.
University of Michigan is technically maize(gold) and blue.
She’s so adorable 😻😻😻

You're glasses match the lapis really well. Yes plants. Soften the background and lighten it. Box- maybe a lighter gray with sparkle.
That slab of lapis looks kinda like a book, it can be the book of lapis 😆

Hi BoB dO yOu PlAy BaSeBaLl?

Lapis always makes me think of King Tut. By the way I love your channel I'm having a lot of fun watching it!
We've actually done a video on King Tut & the hidden gemstones in his tomb, check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/Ht4Xh8IlC_g/v-deo.html
@Connie H I always think of the night sky at 2 or 3am
Plz show a gemstone call phosphophyllite
Houseki no Kuni?
David Nguyen antarcticite ;p
I would like to know more about the not so expensive gemologist tool for testing each stone and crystal.

This is so far my favorite video, your facial expressions... classic!
More so, aside from ruby, lapis is my favorite stone!❤❤❤💕
Beautiful lapis lazuli. I have lapis lazuli earrings bead stud earring and a bracelet.

I love the black, white, and grey.
Kinda sad my fave su character wasn't mentioned
Yea that’s cuz it’s mentioned too much on other places. Please enjoy lapis lazuli for the amazing gemstone it is. Not for peridot’s Gf.
I SOOOOO WANT these Lapis sunglasses I saw online!😱 the frames are Lapis & Gold🤩😍🥰 ...Lapis was WORSHIPPED By the Anasazi and they used it to vibrate into higher dimensions
Where do your production crew find these amazing gems?
I’ve have Lapis Lazuli. A lot of them, I put them right next to Angelite Crystals. Both Lapis Lazuli and Angelite are the most powerful Gem.
If you’re carving it into a shape for jewelry, you’ll need byproduct not suitable for jewelry.
oh my god, the peanuts "wah wah" 's for the people of screen, A+ editing choice
Also, perhaps you could use pastel, soft colours. It adds life without overshadowing the vibrance of the gemstones discussed!
What about smoky quartz
The thing about the plain colors is that they offset the more colorful gemstones.
i hope they zoom in more to the gemstone

First, she was caught in a mirror and now she was caught in a box... Just wow
8:55 is it just me, or things seem a bit more interesting at this time mark (if you know what I mean)?

13:01 Is it just me...?
I like that idea! Green plants and white table! Still neutral!
Oh dear that's a beautiful lapis lazuli specimen
As a child I had rock stands, instead of lemonade stands. Don't know why I didn't stick with it. I would have fools gold, and pebbles from gravel driveways that had amethyst looking inclusions featured in my inventory. Wishing now that I had pursued geology a little more seriously.
You can use it to enchant stuff
been subbed since 3k nice to see you grow
Yes, I looove lapis! I actually have a lapis lazuli bracelet that I adore!
Lapis Lazuli! reminds me of Whispers of the Heart everytime
Soak it in nail polish remover or acetone. If color comes off then it’s dyed lower quality. If not then it’s real

Are u trying to get rid of the lapis lazuli
I love this show, and Natalie, you ARE SO CUTE
Ok so can I enchant my tools or no? Do I need a enchanting tabel?
The last two are collectors wet dream :))) I envy their owners
Late as recovery from my appendix removed but worth it. Hoping to see Cinnabar stone on here one day.
If as much passion as critism for the grey box had been given to the topic, namely lapis lazuli it would have been a pleasant video to watch.
I like the gray!!!!
You could also put it on the back of a mirror as an accent! 😂😂😭😭
I love your channel!
Thank you!!
I think you need a gray carpet for that table the way you handle gems and fine carvings. Ha!
Can anyone tell? How much days or weeks or months it takes for this stone to show effects after wearing...
Lipas was also use in King Tut's Head Dress.
I have a question: Is Rose Gold a natural color? Because the only time I’ve seen it is on manufactured products.
I think that the simple colour scheme makes people focus more on the colour of the gem! 🤔

Dear Natalie, grey gemstones do exist. There is grey spinel, grey moonstone, as well as "salt and pepper" diamond.
I’m your biggest fan
Do a video about Houseki no kuni. Maybe about the various gemstones in it, and thoughts about the show.
I have an idea for the boxes lol
How about a white box with holo rainbow "paint splashes" and a reverse of it :3 (Holo rainbow box with white splashes)
Fun fact:lapis could go up to 44 million dollars so she should be pretty happy
Uncut diamonds are grey and they are a cube like the box.
Why is the person at the start off screen talking through a drive thru speaker?
You're awesome! So is Lapis
Thanks, Jennifer!!

She’s just used to a bigger specimen ….
The set is fine.
Come to see your channel because of matpat
Cub Scouts use blue and gold for their uniforms.
Nothing says 'sexy' like a hunk of gemstone!
Didn't Egyptians use it in their images as well? Like Osiris is painted in Lapis?
If I could paint I would so grind that up. for paint it is the most amazing color
