That was seriously one of the best games I've ever played! I loved that show growing up, so it made the playing of this game just that much more special and dear to me. I always loved the way they would say "MONKAAAAAAAAAAAAY!" That'd get a laugh out of my younger sibs and I everytime! I have to say, also, that I loved watching you guys play this gem - it reminded me of how my sibs and I used all sit around one player and just talk about the game as it was being played or taking turns trying to get through levels. Thanks for the nostalgia boost, guys, and for stirring up those memories!
2 years ago you (Josh) replied to a comment of mine where I mentioned that I'm in medical school and still make sure to watch continue every week. I'd like to say that 1) I'm now 18 months away from being a doctor, 2) I'll take your advice to blame my first malpractice suit on you guys, and 3) you can't have a balls hernia. A hernia is any situation in which part of the body leaves its normal anatomical space and 'herniates' into another space. For example, most hernias are inguinal hernias, in which the intestines herniate through the inguinal canal and, possibly, into your scrotum. But you can also have cerebellar hernias, where part of your brain herniates into your spinal canal, or other crazy stuff. Cheers, Continue.
I hope you're gonna be that cool doctor like in that Trauma Center game... _Doctor! Zap them with your zappy gun!_ *pewpewpew* _Doctor, we need you to defuse this nuclear bomb!_
Literally I had this game when I was a kid and all I remember is the beginning theme song, that you played at the end. Monkey Magic right now has rung in my head for years.
Sun Wukong , The monkey king is one of my favorite legends. His tale is of great lessons on how to not be a pompous ass often, and express a hilarious contradiction to the path of enlightenment many others follow. He is the magical monkey master who even manages to annoy a holy buhdi into throwing a mountain on top of him.
That game didnt look too bad honestly. I definitely wouldve continued unless the controls were super bad. The whole mechanic of the spells seemed pretty interesting and it reminded me of any 2d/2.5d indie puzzle platformer we see on the market today. It had a lot of charm, just got rubbed the wrong way i guess.
I've noticed that the guys have really weird taste sometimes. It seemed like they were loving this up until the end. Base Wars was another one they had a lot of fun with, but all game over'd.
I actually played that game a lot as a kid, and played it again when I was like 15. The game isn't bad, it's fun and it has fun being silly. I'm honestly not sure what made them think it was bad.
TheBlackKnightGamer I also had it. Loved it and the show. Recently thought about it and went to gamewinners.com and found I'm still the only person to post anything on the game. I loved it and got it recently on eBay. Still an awesome game.
I love this game and as a kid I was really good, clearly their problem was that they weren't listening to the instructions and instead were to busy making fun of everything they were hearing, because if they actually listened they would have heard that you can use opposite spells to cancel each other out and combine spells to make for various puzzle exterminations, like making yourself small and freezing yourself to go through a small heatwave area or something, the game does a really good job of teaching you how to play sure in some ways it might over teach you a bit but you can actually skip it and in the first level they don't really tell you what to do unless you are really stuck giving you that option to figure it out on your own, also the controls are pretty tight though jumping can be a bit difficult at times, it's just a really easy game with just enough difficulty for kids to feel accomplished or for adults to just be able to take it easy with something just challenging enough to help pass the day and not be toooo frustrating, though in some spots it can be especially with bosses, but if your not going to listen to what they have to teach you and goof off then your just going to fail, I have lots of students to do the same thing so this game really touches me.
Jeffmetal 42 I started singing it and was surprised that they hadn't yet. They usually make those references before I think of them. Then they never made it.
I think the creators of this game knew how awesome the life-get jingle was and decided to put lives everywhere so you could hear it nonstop. Also, I'm pretty sure they're checking for a ball hernia when they do the turn and cough thing. Either that or my doctor's just a creepy molester touching balls for no good reason.
Monkey Magic is an incredible game! It's a member of the family of "underrated childhood retro games no one really remembers," right on the shelf next to other PS1 classics like the Tomba! series
I've played this game and though it's not awful, it's not really good either. A lot of the problems with this game have to do with early Playstation controls and just subpar design. Those three guys they fought? How beating them basically had to do with spamming against super fast animation? I recall later bosses being even worse about that sort of thing. Then when you include having to cycle rapidly through magic and cast it with the shoulder buttons in a completely counter-intuitive scheme it gets really aggravating quickly. I believe in one of the next boss fights you have to do that for various phases. I recall quitting at a boss where you have to cycle magic, plus use the cloud and the bo with predictably floaty, overly fast controls. There are games which did all of that and still managed to be fun and worthwhile, like Treasure's Alien Soldier, but this game doesn't really have enough redeeming qualities to make it worth it. This is mostly a slow memorization puzzle platformer that still makes you go fast with bad controls and poorly conceived bosses. Game Over is pretty fair on this one, the further you go the worse this game gets.
This weekend; Catch up on Continue?, Listen to the newest Goosebuds, listen to the newest Fantasy Fiction, and order one of those new Wizard Yale hoodies. Final step: Lament over Syndication Station. I think I might need help.
I dont know if it's the way they are sitting but Josh looks a lot taller/bigger in these newer episodes whilst Nick Murphy looks smaller. That or the more realistic possibility that Josh is siphoning Nick Murphy's life force so he may live in the day time with normie hairs
This was based on a cartoon that aired in the late nineties early 2000s, it was awesome, I remember reading about this game previewed in a magazine and wanted it so bad. The game never got a wide release though so I never got a copy.
I still buy physical cds over digital. They cost about the same and I get a hard copy that I can make digital copies from. Also I get a nice jewel case with artwork. It's win-win! Plus there is a certain joy about buying a physical cd for one or two songs you like and finding a song or two that you love even more but never heard before buying the cd. I guess I'm getting old. I would be disappointed if they ever did away with physical cds permanently.
Is this intro by the same animation studio that did the Kirby anime? Because it looks eerily similar, down to the art style, bad CG, crash-landing on the planet, and I even confused the cloud for the Warp Star for a second.
that game looks great for a puzzle platformer. it seems like a natural progression from platformers from the SNES. this came out in the next generation, so if games didn't start becoming 3d, this is the direction platformers would have gone. switching between planes could have been used better, but I think the different powers is a pretty good game mechanic. one thing I did notice is that the enemies like the white martial artists seem a little too difficult, and they lazily counteracted that by putting a million MONKAAAYYYY lives throughout the levels
This game was based on an anime of the same title, though I don't know if that has ever aired outside of Japan. What you might of is a live action Japanese series also called Monkey Magic (Sometimes known simply as Monkey) which has something of a cult following and has aired in a number of countries and on a number of different networks.
*Saw the nice over the top animated intro. *Like the characters. *Saw the gameplay, reminded me of Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub Zero. *My shit radar went off the charts. At least the continue guys, the hilariously bad voice acting made me watch the fooking thing to the end.
King of Prussia is a pretty sick mall, I've eaten at that five guys like 70 times while waiting for my sister to finish at fucking forever 21. 5 guys is sooo good.

This was the first episode of Continue? I ever watched.
I just wanna thank you guys for being such a constant bit of joy in my life the last 8 years.
I want that "Monkaaay" sound effect to be my text tone.
Game Over the game, Continue Mick Nurphey, Raul Pitchey and Hosh Jenderson singin' MONKAAAAAY!!! ♫

I was told I had a naval/umbilical hernia. Although I don't have a bulge like the descriptions say it gives. Weird stuff.
I hope you're gonna be that cool doctor like in that Trauma Center game...
_Doctor! Zap them with your zappy gun!_ *pewpewpew*
_Doctor, we need you to defuse this nuclear bomb!_
balls lol
Literally I had this game when I was a kid and all I remember is the beginning theme song, that you played at the end. Monkey Magic right now has rung in my head for years.
monkeey sounds like a awesome new ringtone
Sun Wukong , The monkey king is one of my favorite legends. His tale is of great lessons on how to not be a pompous ass often, and express a hilarious contradiction to the path of enlightenment many others follow.

"BUT MASTER, I WAS JUST SLEEPING!" D:
An American game about a Japanese anime about a Chinese story?
Amazing.
MONKAAAAAAAAAY!
Its one of them japanimations weenies like to gab about
Nick nailed it every time he talked as the bat!
MURPHEEEE!!!
Monkaaay!
Well... that was a special form of dafuq, that "mooonkeeh!" cry will feature heavily in my nightmares for a while now...
this week's epsiode. The Continue Team doesnt know DB is based on the Legend of the Monkey King
Except they do @ 3:25
Superman is also based on the Journey to the West
Game over the game, continue the monkaaaaaaaaaay
I must get my hands on those delicious Purpleberries! Thank for you reminding me of that episode Josh, it's such a good one.
Bort!
I'm shocked at the lack of Peter Gabriel references...
You might even say you were... shocked.
Oh shit wait you did, you did say it.
***** the best comment response I've seen in a min. Funny shit.
Jeffmetal 42 I started singing it and was surprised that they hadn't yet. They usually make those references before I think of them. Then they never made it.
Damn, every time I go away for a while, I always come back. I can't ever get away from this show! lol
0:26 That "omg" from Nick was so hilarious. xD
He sounds like an angry old sailor or that bearded old dude from the Simpsons.
Well, they put effort into the sound design at least, what with the sweet tunes and the "MOONKAAAYH" :P
omg I want that MONKAAAY clip for my text message tone lol
This episode was hilarious. I can't believe they Gameovered though. It actually looks fun.
It was fun, lol it was one of my favorites when I was a kid
Had no idea this was a game, the show was badass! Wish they continued it
Dude I almost pissed my pants when I heard the "monkayyy!"
Now every Monday I'll be singing MONNDAAYYY!
I loved the gameplay from the video! I think I would definitely love to play this game, just from the footage of you guys!
Keep up the good work! You guys are hilarious!
Monkey Magic is an incredible game! It's a member of the family of "underrated childhood retro games no one really remembers," right on the shelf next to other PS1 classics like the Tomba! series
Moss nah man fuck this game.
Huh. I usually agree with you guys, but I actually thought this game looked pretty cool.
I've played this game and though it's not awful, it's not really good either. A lot of the problems with this game have to do with early Playstation controls and just subpar design.

+Frontier Jazz damn, that's a damn good summarizing of this game. i seriously enjoyed reading that.
7:18 jesus CHRIST I thought there was an actual bee behind me wtf
This weekend;
Catch up on Continue?, Listen to the newest Goosebuds, listen to the newest Fantasy Fiction, and order one of those new Wizard Yale hoodies.
Final step: Lament over Syndication Station. I think I might need help.
Is it me or does Josh look like a younger, happier version of Louie CK?
Monnnkeeeyyy from the year 2023!
I 100% forgot about the Monkey Magic cartoon until I saw the intro to the game.
Dang you guys always upload so late for me. Now I gotta stay up late to watch the goodness.
been waiting all night for this rad vidya
Dude, that Futurama episode that Josh was talking about is hilarious. I forget what it's called, though.
I dont know if it's the way they are sitting but Josh looks a lot taller/bigger in these newer episodes whilst Nick Murphy looks smaller. That or the more realistic possibility that Josh is siphoning Nick Murphy's life force so he may live in the day time with normie hairs
On an Australian Podcast (Aunty Donna) they kept referencing Monkey Magic, and this episode was the only thing I knew about it.
A funny thing just happened; the first time they got the extra life and the game yelled "MONKAAAAAY!!!!" I was looking at my Diddy Kong amiibo.
Oh man, this was one of the "Up Next" random plays for me. CAUGHT THAT SMART GUYS REFERENCE NOW. BOOM I GOT YO REFERENCE.
Does anyone else want a MONKAAAAAAAY!!! Shirt? Cause I totally do. Id wear that shit every day.
This really never gets old
I loved this game as a kid, but I have no idea after seeing it again if I would still enjoy it. Monkaaaaaaaaiiiii!
Some real obscure shit you got here. This one of the first games I ever played.
why were games even made after this? this is truly a masterpiece.
That MONKAAAAAY sound needs to be a text message alert tone.
I used to play this game all the time, thanks for reminding me, I could never remember what it was called.
"it's easy to teleport, you're a god damn bat!" lmao
I have a new go-to phrase in conversation.
MONKAAAAAYYYYY!
God, I remember watching this saturday morning cartoon.
This was based on a cartoon that aired in the late nineties early 2000s, it was awesome, I remember reading about this game previewed in a magazine and wanted it so bad. The game never got a wide release though so I never got a copy.
I just had the biggest nostalgia explosion....and the sad part it...I never beat this game
Personally, I think this may have been the funniest video they've done. I laughed so hard I went blind for a brief moment.
My childhood is MONKAAAAAAAAYYYYYY
3:34 Guess shenron got tired of granting wishes.
You boys never disappoint!
You can't ever convince me that the CGI Dragon wasn't fucking Shenron.
Dear paul
You have nice button ups
please bring back the podcast
, Love someone
Dat ODB reference doe...so clean
that 'moooonkay' lyric is ringtone material
Is this intro by the same animation studio that did the Kirby anime? Because it looks eerily similar, down to the art style, bad CG, crash-landing on the planet, and I even confused the cloud for the Warp Star for a second.
And then the drummer Fraggle started The Foo Fraggles.
I love you guys
7:16 NOT THE BEES AHHHHHHHH!!!! NO NOT THE BEEES!!!!! NOT THE BEEES !!!!!!
huh, i think that Scott McNiel as the bat and Richard Cox as the tutorial old guy...
I swear to god there's like 8,000,000,000,000 games based on/inspired by/taking influence/making references to Journey to The West...
Hey look its fuckin Wukong
Love the pearl jam reference
dont' listen to this while wearing headphones...you think there are bees in your ears.
that game looks great for a puzzle platformer. it seems like a natural progression from platformers from the SNES. this came out in the next generation, so if games didn't start becoming 3d, this is the direction platformers would have gone. switching between planes could have been used better, but I think the different powers is a pretty good game mechanic. one thing I did notice is that the enemies like the white martial artists seem a little too difficult, and they lazily counteracted that by putting a million MONKAAAYYYY lives throughout the levels
Came back after the newest monkey game, I needed a good palate cleaner
Wait, what is the bee's hate cell phones a reference too? Or is that just a closely held personal belief?
WHAAAAT?! You're playing this on PS2?! God damn I've never got that to work!
Yes! It finally came out!
Wasn't this a TV show at one point?
Yeah Dragon Ball Z
This game was based on an anime of the same title, though I don't know if that has ever aired outside of Japan. What you might of is a live action Japanese series also called Monkey Magic (Sometimes known simply as Monkey) which has something of a cult following and has aired in a number of countries and on a number of different networks.
This was actually based off an anime called Monkey Magic. I Googled it.
ThatChainmecha lol
Tour ignorance disturbs me
Would continue using MONKAAAAY as a 1-up sound.
*Saw the nice over the top animated intro.
*Like the characters.
*Saw the gameplay, reminded me of Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub Zero.
*My shit radar went off the charts.
At least the continue guys, the hilariously bad voice acting made me watch the fooking thing to the end.
considering that DBZ is just a bastardized journey to the west I wouldn't exactly call this one that bad
Journey To The West is such a great story.
That damn bat has to be the inspiration for Egoraptor's Mega Man Sequelitis episode. At least the "MEGA MAN! MEGA MAN!" parts.
I always figured it's either a reference to Alia from MMX, or the Navi mode from Anniversary Collection.
Matthew Shirtz Oh absolutely. Something about the way the bat speaks reminded me of it though :) haha
So much for my childhood.
The audio from the past few episodes seems really off. It's either too hard to hear them or they are too loud. Same goes with the game audio.
This game's "MONKAYY" is the "DYNOMITE" from Black Dynamite.
King of Prussia is a pretty sick mall, I've eaten at that five guys like 70 times while waiting for my sister to finish at fucking forever 21. 5 guys is sooo good.
Killer use of Cosmic Two font!
Game over? It sounded like you guys were really enjoying it, though.
9:38 You must Edge!
Real talk? I totally remember this cartoon.
I think this was a saturday morning cartoon at some point.
Josh seems like he is stoned as fuck! Lmfao
Monkayyyy
I honestly don't think that game looked that bad.
Also, dbz is based on journey to the west, the story about sun wukong
Anyone else think Paul looks 10 years older in this episode?
