If only Destiny's Child had been as egalitarian. The women of En Vogue have always been able to have their own individuality and time to shine without trying to outshine one another---seamlessly balancing solos with tight harmonies. It keeps things fresh.

It's funny that in the decade of the Rodney King beating and the O.J. Simpson trial, black-white relations in the USA were better than today. The amount of fear and distrust being instigated by politicians/media/educational system is sickening. Anyone who doesn't believe it, can ask an black person over 35. Same goes for m/f relations. The only thing that's gotten better is LGBT. They really had it tough in the 90s.

I will have to disagree(without changing your mind) on the grounds that the music from my Boomer parents was better. 70's were amazing. I think because the technology didn't allow to overproduce a song with prerecorded samples. People had to play all the instrumental parts and record them over and over to layer them over the melody.

It was at number 1 for an eternity here in the UK. It really is a great song, and gets it's message across far more effectively than any of the mindless PC nonsense happening today.
Sadly it was the only real success story En Vogue had over here. A few of their other songs were reasonably well known because they were in movies - but that was it. They vanished from the charts after this song and only get mentioned now on a handful of music channels when a 90's recap must be produced.

I came straight here after hearing Beyoncé’s new “country” music, I get that she’s going in a different genre, but it stills sounds too pop and R&B. Now En Vogue definitely knew how to do it right. This is nothing like there soul and R&B roots, it’s solid rock and it hits every time.

I didn't say anything about a stereotype, I was just saying how this music is empowering and how it's unfortunate that some of the prejudice and ignorance is still happening today??? Not sure what's wrong with me saying that & also don't care. And secondly, you really need to get your facts straight, my dude. *Necrophilia* is when you commit sexual acts on a dead body. *Necromancy* is basically calling upon spirits and talking to the dead. Oh the late 80's, 90's...this was the time when everybody could feel like million dollars(on credit). This was the era of the REAL supermodels. Naomi, Cindy, Claudia, Linda, Christy, Helena...Love this steampunk-ish vibe. This must be around the time when Tim Burton was doing well. I love the 'underground' look and the fabulosity of the ladies, is off.the.chain. DIVAAAA

The lyrics and the micro and blatant aggressions I will never forget from hearing this song in the the 90’s. It made me think. “I can’t change your mind. You can’t change my color.” Profound. I Love En Vogue, forever and always!

A great classic by En Vogue and probably their best music video, it was ahead of its time, fashion-forward thinking and considering it's Black Female Artists kicking ass with rock! They won 3 MTV Music Video Awards for this video, Best R&B Video, Best Dance Video and Best Choreography In A Video. Well deserved.
